Description This is a song I wrote about a client of mine that I have a soft spot for. He's just a kid, and was kicked around by his stepfather for being gay. He ran away to hollywood and became addicted to meth and started selling his body to survive while he lived under the freeway. Last year he became an adult, and after getting busted a few times, he got sent to prison. I wrote the song because I just got a letter from him. He's really scared, and I feel for the kid. Shouldn't be in prison; he should be in a rehab. All of his crimes were against himself, and he is really sweet, honest and tragic. It's a shame really.

Anyways, this song is in the Elliot Smith/George Harrison pop vein that I constantly pillage. Hope you like.

Have You Had Enough
great song, michael. almost has a Spanish feel to it. really really like the dueling guitars and that post chorus vocal is awesome. great lyrics and singing too. hope your friend can find comfort somewhere in his situation.

michael2 said 151 days ago
spanish huh?
now that you mention it I can hear that; my uncle Silvano taught me how to play guitar (and smoke weed), he was the master of surf and spanish style guitar. glad you liked the tune, mix is a little trashy as I blasted the whole thing out as fast as I possibly could. thanks for the listen bro.

Some times I don't understand what's going on in our so could PEACE all OVER the WORLD thinking when we can't help people who really suffer... Hey what a democracy we live in..... OKAY back to song.. This sure touch deep in my heart very lovely done my friend.

Take care

glad you liked the song, but more happy that you get the sadness of the situation. there are many things that piss me off in this world and this is just another to throw on the pile. thanks for the listen.

You knew I'd love this one
True. E. Smith meets G. Harrison. Really great tune.
Awesome lyrically and very brilliantly put together.

All Right!

Dave

thanks Dave
so good that you're into this one (and thanks for that pimp). the slide guitars were driving me crazy trying to get a decent sound, but it all worked out good enough. thanks so much again.

buckhorn said 151 days ago
Beautiful Tune
Nicely arraigned and sung, marimbas a good touch, mix sounds a little edgier than your others. Totally agree with your assertion. You rule this genre. Regards

michael2 said 151 days ago
thanks man
glad you like. hey i forgot to reply to your email; sorry about that. was very kind of you. talk soon.

MarkHolbrook said 151 days ago
It generates
deep feeling Micheal. Sung from the heart and the emotion comes through nicely!

Great work on all the instruments too!

Really a wonderful tune!

michael2 said 151 days ago
thanks mark
so glad you like. i was going to do the vox over and get them more together, but decided against (like the raw feel of scratch vocals). thanks for your kind words.

And pillage away if it produces this kind of song! Hope your client hears this, it really reaches out.

Thanks

sometimes i can be completely shameless (but so were most of my icons). glad you liked this one. your new tune is amazing BTW

Best
thing I've heard you post here. The recording is huge and pro. Love how the vocals and guitar intertwine in the end. And when you sing "friend" it really does channel E. Smith. But that picture is heartbreaking.

michael2 said 151 days ago
thanks Ash Tree
so glad that you liked this one. That picture is awful huh? ever since i had a kid, i can't stand the idea of suffering. it actually enrages me. the picture turns my stomach, but it's appropriate i think. thanks for listening.

Great work my friend, fine guitar playing and as always, the singing at its best. One of your best picks Sir. I'm sorry about your friend, hope he'll have some better days in the future. Great work and dedication!

was a little worried about this one, since it's in A (horrible key for me), but it's alright. thanks so much for giving this listen and for your kindness.

thanks Feter
i love panned guitars, they just do it for me. i can't wait to get a beefier computer so i can do more layering without things slowing down on me (stupid beachball). thanks so much for listening and i hope my friend will be ok too. thanks.

Lennon714 said 151 days ago
great
heartbreaking subject matter. Done very well, not preachy - which is a difficult task itself. If you're going to pillage, Elliot and George are the some of the finest to pillage. That being said, I think the song still has a unique Michael2 element that makes it your song and not just a template. Great job!

michael2 said 151 days ago
thanks lennon714
glad that it's not overly ripped off; I just try and go for a vibe. it's funny, Elliot Smith moved into my neighborhood years ago, and all of a sudden everyone was playing acoustic guitar. Of course they claimed Nick drake as an influence. The hood was devastated when he died (and rumors are still flying that his girlfriend killed him - the case is still open apparently).

Lennon714; just realized how close that is to Lemmon 714. Guess we are about the same age. Thanks for the listen, loved your new one.

OOPS
I had no idea what you were talking about so I had to look it up. My username is actually my daughter's name and her birthday. I'm about as removed from drug culture as they come so any reference is purely coincidental. Great. Now I look like a poser :).

naw, that just makes it cooler.

song Michael - very sad story. The arrangement and production on this is exceptional.

One of my best friends does the admirable work you do, and laments that almost to a one, all the heartbreaking cases she deals with stems from truly cruel family life. I hope your friend can find his way clear and the inner strength to push on through.

Great song. As always :-)

thanks so much for the listen. it's not as if a song will end the woes of the world, but i gotta do something with this crap when i come home. thanks again.

davisamerica said 151 days ago
wow michael
how many behind bars for being a victim of rotten luck and unfair roll of the dice .... we really don't believe in rehab in this country ... and it costs us in the long run ... very nice treatment of a very sad state of affairs .. good job my brother

michael2 said 150 days ago
thanks
i was just thinking that if they spent some of the prison money on rehabs they could save some money in the long run. and as musicians, i imagine we have all been touched by substance abuse in some way. it's shocking to me that it is still pushed under the rug. thanks for the listen.

what a sad story Michael - thanks for the background on this - it makes your song all the more excellent in what it conveys. Please continue your pillaging!

glad you liked the song and that you have empathy for those worse off than yourself. good girl.

Song with great lyrics, that picture is so sad, it makes my blood boil, your song is sensitive and compelling and tells a sad story...

michael2 said 150 days ago
thanks shadowofnine
glad you're blood is boiling, and glad you liked the tune as well. thanks for the listen.

jiguma said 150 days ago
Lovely song Michael
I can empathise with your position re this young guy - too many kids seem to fall victim to/in our society. On the positive side, some who are definitely heading this way seem to come through the other side without as much damage as we might expect. I always look for the good side because there are so many examples of the other.

Musically, I love this. The way you channel George and some of the other Beatles is uncanny. You don't just SOUND like them, you take on all the little nuances to FEEL like them as well (just check your bank account to see if you ARE George will you).

Top shelf!

Touching
song and very well performed.
Thanks for the background story, it allowed me to feel the music much more deeply.
Congratulations one more time, my friend!

Interesting tribute
I've never been one to believe that things are random. There is a reason he is in your life and a reason his life is the way it is. It means a lot to someone displaced from society to know they have someone.

Very nice stuff here man. Very pro and I really enjoyed it. Reminded me a bit of Crowded house too. Tragic tribute but very well executed. Well done!

Ejh said 148 days ago
I can hear some echoes...
...of Chris Bell era Big Star in this, including the acoustic against the slide and the vocals...

The song is solid and effective, and it's got a good heart to it, which matters in my book...

look at you... two songs topping the charts! well deserved, mind you. this and your other most recent are great works! i love the beatle-esque sliding 'have's. and super cool slide work! really... awesome stuff.

thanks for this one...
my admiration is very high for you doing the work you do. I know it must be very frustrating to know that a person needs special care and not be able to offer it.

just know you've probably had a positive influence in his life and that your friendship and unconditional support is going teach him something of the world he might not have otherwise seen. the rest is going to be up to him.

this song is a real gift to me. keep it up!
