Description Again I'm not quite sure of the genre this is... I put this under rock, but I guess there is influences of soul and funk and maybe a tad hip hop in places;)

Karmatoburn helped me out on the keys. Thanks John.:) I didn't leave to much room for him to move in this, but I think he adds the spice needed to give it an edge.
Lyrics I tell myself
Thor Oliversen©2008

Too many people – try to stress me
All day long – all day long

A burglar came – and took my stash
My car broke down,
in the middle of nowhere land

Oooooh, Ooooooh
I feel so lucky – I tell myself
Oooooh, Ooooooh
I feel so lucky – I tell myself

My lover left me – I left my lover
My boss is craving – I get no pay

Rain is pouring – it’s cold and wet
Sun is shining – it is hot as hell

I have ten fingers– I have good health
My home is warm – I have good friends
I have freedom to speak

Oooooh, Ooooooh
I feel so lucky – I tell myself
Oooooh, Ooooooh
I feel so lucky – I tell myself

Oooooh, Ooooooh
I feel so lucky – I tell myself
Oooooh, Ooooooh !

Excellent tuneage. Its really does rock in a funky sort of way...Reminds me a little of some of Los Lobos' stuff. Really fine collab guys!

what a great tune!

a whole lotta soul. everything is so solid here.

I can't help but think that you listened to a lot of Curtis Mayfield, it's the cool rhythm guitar style that makes me think that.

excellent work guys!

Thor, thanks for the chance to play. Didn't have a chance to say before, but I love the lyrics/message.

Gamborg said 199 days ago
Great ...
The sound reminds me of Jimmi Hendrix. Both guitar and your singing. It's absolutely stunning.

Well done !

Regards, Gamborg

You are better than lucky. You are good! The little "hip-hop" section adds a lot to an already cool song. Very much enjoyed this one.

Thanks

Rockin' Soul
Nice job, Thor and John. You could place this in a number of genres without a problem, but I think it's Rockin' Soul.

Brings back memories of many years ago when a friend would want to drag me to hear some hot new soul band. As we would near a club's entrance, I'd hear the bass thumping, a funky Strat pattern and a sweeping Hammond soaring... I always knew it was going to be fun.

As it is here.

And yes, you can tell yourself you're lucky... we ALL are. Unfortunately, there are two kinds of luck. ;)

Good one Thor and John!
I really like this stripped down style Thor - almost as much as I enjoy your strat playing. John does a great job of finding the gaps to play in.

hey man
'count your blessings' my mom always says.
And there have been times / let me tell you!!
These words surely are good wise advice.
You always have a way of hitting home, Thor.
You really are into some great stuff with you song writing talents. That spell you had a bit ago of writers block/ gone for sure.
This rocks a good groove. The vocals are outstanding / primo.
Great energy in all the fine playing, too. The guitar solo break arrangement with the sweet changes and stops and sweet octives /nice.
Then I'm see this hip hop thang erupting, now in two songs in a row.
So very cool the way you twist that RnB up in the mix at the end. How cool is that?! Well done.
This is a great thoddi song! I got it saved for future shuffling.

Oh Yea,
Hi John...

Nice work with the great choice of keyboard sounds and tones. You have such a way with that ebony and ivory. You are a man with much natural talent.
peace

this is really
a great tune.. thx

Innovative.
Thoddi, you did a great job on this classic rock arrangement, and the vocals are confident and right on. I love the twist you put in the middle of the song with a semi-rap/rock. Got me rhythmically off-guard in such a pleasant way!

Karmatoburn also stamps his sound on this with his ever reliable musical sense. I've worked with him, and he is quite an awesome musician.

Cool track
reminds me a little of the kind of thing Traffic and Spirit did back in the 60's / 70's where the lines between genres were blurred and the music was funky bluesy rocky and good. Dig the rap break toward the end. All around this track is excellent. Fine collab KTB added some fine touches.

soulful funk-rock...
... that is the appropriate genre. Unfortunately that isn't an option. So, groove on and kudos to you both for a top tune... and I do mean a top tune. I totally dig this!

slick as butter
You are getting quite the knack of this 'glide" thing, this just slipped right in from the start

The spot at 2:12-2:39 was unexpected for me, but not not bad. Kind of broke the flow I was in on the groove, but it did put some variety of spice in the song.

Best regards

. - Harold
