Description Just listened to an excellent little track from guitarpick: http://www.macjams.com/song/43803

It's a kind of cool anti-establishment song written in 1989 using primitive equipment.

It reminded me of this one - recorded by my very good friends The President's Men - being a cool anti-establishment song written about 1989 using primitive equipment :-)

It's worse than that - in order to get it into GB, I think I used a tape recorder (to play the tape) and a mic?

It sounds a bit wonky - so if anyone can d/load it can clean it up with some better toys than I have - please feel free to do so...and send me a copy after!

Simon Carter on Vocals & Guitar, Chaz Corradine on Lead, Paul Corradine on Bass and the near God-like Nigel on Drums.
Lyrics We put watches on all the ports
We have operatives overseas
We search minds for subversive thoughts
And swimming pools for accidental deaths......

We are the President's Men
D'y feel secure?
Our hearts are Stainless Steel
Our Minds are pure..................

TVM.......
Yup - I like the feel of this one too - (I can say that as it's not strictly mine - although The Prez Men did a few cover versions of various songs of ours as well)

Actually...
...I think the sound's pretty good...very cool tune with some fine layering of the tracks. The lead sounds like an old Sam Ash distortion pedal I used to play through. I miss that one.

Thanks for the plug and the trip over here...I'll check out one of yours now...

I have a feeling.......
that the pedal in question was a Big Muff.

I recently had...
...my Big Muff Deluxe repaired by the guy who designed it. Turns out he lives a couple of miles away from me.

He modded it so it can do it's usual thing and some more...real sweet. And let me keep the capacitors he changed....

I love the Big Muffs.

So what you're saying is.......
You have a Custom Muff.

Not a lot of people can say that. :-)

anti-establishment songs
interest me - sounds remarkably good considering its origins - especially like the guitar riff - don't think any clean up will enhance it - nice to hear a bit of hiss and a few dropouts in these days of digital silence!

More where that came from........
in the anti-establishment stakes.

c.1984-5 ish - Thatcher was fine inspiration for protest songs :-)

There's two others - Toys for the Boys and Amerika which - if I play with them a bit more might just sound OK.

The messages are still as pertinent today, sadly :-(
