Keywords Rainy (3)Day (39)Birdman (1)Wayne (1)Guitar (943)
Description Following on from the song 'Rainy Day' I posted for the MacJams Coffee House, Birdman Wayne suggested that a guitar solo would be a nice addition - there was a natural space in the song (for that purpose) - so, very kindly, Yeman (Birdman Wayne) sent me the two solos on this version. I added an couple of additional guitars and bass guitar - the drums are from Discrete Drums.

I'd like the thank Yeman for his fabulous contribution - he is a very gifted guitarist.
Hardware Taylor 110, Old Yamaha 12-string, Epiphone Les Paul plus Yeman's guitar. AKG condenser mic.
Software: Boss BR1600/II and Garageband

Missed the first one
But soooo glad I caught this one... this is PERFECT for a little coffee house number, as I always remember coming in out of the cold damp evenings in London to some warm little shop, and I can just imagine you in there playing this... it fits right in. I love the tune and lyrics, very smooth song-smithing here, and gorgeous singing and guitar playing. Of course, Yeman's guitar work in the middle was just perfect, skillful and tasteful. On headphones, it seemed that the rhythm guitar was off to the left a little too far, but that's about the only critique I have (perhaps do the double-the-track and spread-it trick to keep it centered but away from the vox and other guitar?)
ttfn,
Drakonis

Peter Bauckham said 205 days ago
Thank you
very much for listening and for your critique - the acoustic might be a wee be more left than I intended - I always try and keep instruments (other than bass and drums) away from the centre so the vocals can breathe - I'll take on-board what you've said and give it a try on future projects.

Thanks again, Peter.

Peter and Yeman!!!
This is totally killer! Love the solo and love the overall sound!

Mr. Yeman that guitar solo is off the wall! Wow!

thanks!!!

Peter Bauckham said 205 days ago
Yeman's
solo is something else - he sent me 3 different ones - all sounded great to me - he is a real perfectionist and a pleasure to work with. Thanks for listening Mark.

My Pleasure!
Thank you a lot Mr. Peter for the invitation to play the solos, I enjoyed my time laying them. Great vocals and guitar rhythm, really lovely work. Thanks again.. I love this piece!

Yeman
without your playing this would not be any where near as good - thank you so much - it's been a pleasure working with you.

Now hear this!
Hey Yeman...Those solos are spot-on-the-money and utterly sublime!

You ROCK my friend!

Be well!

jiguma said 205 days ago
Clean and clear
What nice additions to this great song - you have a big future Yeman!

Great song - especially excellent production. A suggestion on the mix: the RH acoustic tends to dominate a bit - maybe you could double the track and put it in the LH channel (slightly delayed to fill things out) - just a thought, and by no means essential.

I really like this one.
Neil

Peter Bauckham said 205 days ago
Thanks Neil
really spooky - I was just listening to your latest. Thanks as ever for your comments. Originally, this was just acoustic and vocals - I would have re-panned the acoustic a bit more central but I had bounced the track with the vocals (not sure why I did that) so I was stuck with that bit really - I guess it adds a bit of 'space' around the instruments - I must have been listening to too many 'very stereo' 60's albums!

Thanks again
Peter

2.0
Cool Peter and Yeman.

I always like to here how someone else's song can develop and grow.

Yeman your leads are REALLY nice! And Peter, the added production really fits the bill.

Peter Bauckham said 205 days ago
Thanks Vic
There are always so many ways a song can develop and change - When I recorded the Coffee House version, I used a drum track (I hate click tracks) - so in a way this is more as I was thinking - but I really wanted the Coffee House version to be kept simply acoustic. I could never have imagined Yeman adding such a wonderful solo though!

So, this is first for me - both collaborating and posting another version of a song.

Thanks for listening!

Peter

Roxylee said 205 days ago

Peter Bauckham said 205 days ago
Thanks Gail
...I remember you being very complementary about the acoustic 'live' verison so I am pleased that this didn't disappoint. Thanks again for listening.

I am sorry Pete I missed this one. I am a very naughty girl :)
I loved your other one and also love this edition too. Great job.
You guys well done. I keep strumming away at my own guitar and am pleased to say I think I am making some slow but sure steady progress. lol
Great listen as usual.

Peace Dee xx

Fits nicely
I'm not sure if I've heard the original song, but I like this version. That guitar solo comes just at the right spot and it fits just right.

The arrangement sounds pretty good otherwise too.

lavalamp said 204 days ago
Wow Peter and Birdman
Yeman is truly gifted, indeed. Love how you keep the British accent on the singing. A lot of English blokes tend to do the American thing on vocals.
Gloomy weather in England. Isn't that redundant?

I had a great time Peter. And a shout out to Yeman!

aren't you LOL. This sounds truly great. I loved the original, but with this new fullness and Yeman's expert instrumental pieces it puts the icing on the cake, cheers M

This song again?
I still love it! Yeman's addition solidifies this already neat song. This is a keeper in any format. Acoustic guitars sound soooo good!

Peter Bauckham said 204 days ago
Yes indeed
'this song again' - I wouldn't normally post an alternate version but I was so happy with Yeman's guitar work I wanted to share it. Thanks for checking this version out, and for your comments.

like this Carol - I never know which way a song will go but I think this is quite typical - I can't resist acoustic guitars - Yeman's solo is the icing on the cake here.

Thanks for listening.

Sorry I'm late to this Peter - been away
Glad you have done this - it has made me realise what a strong song it is and a second playing really reinforces that.
Inspired solo from Yemen really works well and I really like the production too.
Cheers

you really created a nice overall sound with this, and Yeman adds a unique flavor with his solo. Good one. Cheers

Yeman
had a very definite idea of the solo and the sound for this. So nice to have a real guitarist play on one of my songs.

Very cool
This was an excellent song in its original incarnation, and this is nothing but an improvement. Lovely singing, great guitar tone, and that solo is excellent, with some lovely melodic runs that perfectly complement the song. Excellent stuff. Nicely done to both of you. Peace.
