Description a Flaming Lips inspired indie rocker about about a guy who needs to finish singing one last song before he dies...

Chords:
D,A,D,A,D,A,D,A,D,A,D,A repeat
(Phew! don't try this at home)
Lyrics One Last Chorus (You Can Have it All)

Someone grab me by the feet
And pull me down to Earth
Cuz I've got one thing left to do here
I'm not ready to go... oh, no

Heaven's gonna have to wait for me
a little longer can't they see?
I'm not ready to leave... just yet

I have got this one last song to sing
Then they can give me angel's wings
And I will fly to them.. and then

You can have it all

I'm coming to the last chorus
And after that it's time to go
But I will leave you everything
Everything I've got

and as I take my final bow
I can feel them hovering around me
They are waiting for the last words
that I have to sing.... and here they are:

You can have it all

I'm leaving but don't you worry
Everything will be okay
I'm leaving but my soul lives on
I've left it for you in this here song

You can have it all

I can always
rely on you for something different and unexpected. Great idea for a song and lyrics. Love the vocal effects and instrumentation you have used.
Cheers
Len

Thanks Len. The idea of music as a timeless immortal thing has always intrigued me. Glad you like the idea.

Unusual
but very cool, like the lyrics a load, I wonder if I can get that extra 12 hours to finish a song...I'll work on it...

rsorensen said 159 days ago
hah

Great departure. Total Lip-ish. Love the lyrics and the whole quirky feel of this.
Loved this.

Thank you Dave. I love the Lips! They're one of the most underrated bands of our time.

davisamerica said 163 days ago
wow ...
a bit of Cloud Cult here ... and that is very good ...

rsorensen said 159 days ago
CC

hey
haven't been able to be around much, and I'm super glad that I caught this one. really great song, love that woozy slide guitar and those drums are just perfect. this is one of your best as far as I'm concerned. great job.

rsorensen said 159 days ago

Ya know, I'm glad you think so because I REALLY like this one too. I know it's not going to get a lot of attention because it might be a little too harsh for folks, but I'm glad someone here likes it as much as me :) I remember the first time I heard The Flaming Lips song 'Pilot Can At The Queer Of God', from which this song was partially inspired by, I was like 'yikes!' and forwarded to the next song. Then after a few listens I was in love. Maybe this'll have the same effect? Maybe not haha.

Cool song
Hey, Tomorrow Never Knows is one chord and it's mind blowing. Chord counting is for tools. This is jarring and fantastic. Love it. Are you doing the high harmony? If so, you've a great, razor sharp falsetto. Officially jealous.

rsorensen said 159 days ago

Thanks Eric. Yeah I tried to throw another chord in there but it felt contrived. This is all me, including the falsetto. Glad you like it.

I think it needs some more...
D,A,D,A,D chords. Kidding!

Boy, you sure nailed the Flaming Lips style and sound to a Tee.

I can see the costumed animals dancing in a rain of confetti.

You did wear the the white vested suite when recording this, right?

rsorensen said 159 days ago

Thanks Vic. I tried to subdue the Lips style but ended up doing a full blown homage haha. I love that band so much I couldn't help myself. And yes, it got a little crowded in my little studio with that huge white rabbit dancing around

yes this IS unusual! but unusually cool in myopinion. i dont see the need for a chord change in this at all. the melodies are good enough to keep it interesting. cool song ridd!
