Beautiful soulful performance
Lee does so well on the piano, and you did a wonderfullly flowing performance on harmonica... now we have to get Caroline to do better with the technical bits! (smirk)

So, do you find harmonica/piano transcriptions of these pieces, or transcribe them yourself, or mentally sight-read the violin score? Impressive performance no matter what!

Violin Concerto
Thanks so much for your kind remarks Eduard. I normally use any music published and the Mendelssohn is the violin edition.

I like your music very much and will listen to some of your other pieces. Perhaps you have a piece for me to record sometime!!

Cheers, Carol

wow
Mendelssohn on harmonica. Can't get better than that! This is amazing. And beautiful. And creative and full of talent and brilliant. You both play wonderfully (and I'm sure Caroline was a great cheerleader/recorder/producer)! Thanks for sharing this!

Great set of pipes!
Caroline pointed me to this page and I'm so glad she did!

I wouldn't have believed that a harmonica could sound so sweet, until hearing this wonderful rendition of the slow movement of Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto.

As a professional horn player, I have sat in the orchestra as many violinists have performed this work. I must say that your version is every bit as expressive as theirs. In fact, I am amazed at your subtle, tasteful phrasing.

Harmonica is one of those instruments which seems simple on the surface, but must be devilishly difficult to play as well as you do.

Lee's piano accompaniment is in excellent balance with your solo.

Altogether this was a most lovely listening experience, and totally unexpected!

This kind of music is exactly what MJ needs now. What a great breath of fresh, new air! Thank you for sharing this.

Sincerely,

Cameron

Silver harmonica
Hi Cameron, thank so much for your kind comments. The harmonica I play was made by a friend in Germany many years ago and is solid silver, I think this helps to get a sweeter sound. I love playing this instrument, but you sound like a very professional musician yourself, it's a great vocation in life.

I am going to listen to your music now, it's such an exciting world this Macjams!!

You never know just how timeless and beautiful a classical piece can be until you hear it done from an unexpected medium. Well, tan my hide and take me out to lunch if this ain't one doozy of a tune!

Harmonesque said 205 days ago
Thanks Richard!
I might be medium but not unexpected!! The harmonica is a unique instrument with all sorts of peculiarities...hope to get more pieces on sometime soon!!

Thanks again for your comments,

Cheers Carol!
