Description
About 5 years ago I needed a short piece of piano music to play as an interlude during a funeral. That's where this started.
A couple of years later I was trying to improve my composition skills and decided to arrange it for a string quartet.
A couple more years later and it has become this.
Magnatone, drakonis and KissMeKate - without your patience and advice and support I would not have been able to accomplish this. Thank you.
Futzpucker was such a HUGE part of making this happen. His generosity is limitless. His honesty and nit-picking refined this piece. And his tools and skills mixed it into it's final form. From the bottom of my heart, Patrick, I thank you. You helped me make this into more than I could have ever imagined.
This song is in memory of my father.
Hardware
GEM PS1600 keyboard, MacBook Pro, and whatever all the expensive gear is in futzpucker's garage.
Software:
Started in Sibelius, built in Garageband 4, refined and mixed in ProTools.

this is just so moving....I am not sure what to say....maybe it's the timing of the night....idk.....but this is just so good why oh why am I hearing it here at MJ???? I don't mean that in a bad way it's just that this is so solid, well arranged, moves and shifts and rolls,it should be a major ordeal for themasses to hear. When will the great music managers of the world start shopping for the real talent found in abundance here at MJ...
Everyone should pay attention to this piece of music....it deserves our attention

Amazing...
I'm a big fan of your work Shay, since your first post I was impressed by the talent and I knew that we'll have some more coming better and better.
What I just heard was something so deep, full of love, full of passion and feelings. What I heard was a composition from the heart... Sad mixed with emotions and deep memories. What I heard is... a masterpiece.
A classical guitar would be very fine here but on its own, it's just a gem with masterful touches.
Kudos.. I'm blown away!

Extremely moving
I'm pretty much melted into my chair with this. Gorgeous work, Shay. It helps that this speaks to your father, that goes right to this father's heart. The changes Futz suggested since my sneak peek have indeed polished this up a great deal (although how he got you to put a FLUTE in near the end is beyond me... I happen to really like it though!) I absolutely love the cymbal-swell in the middle... but the overall piece is yours, and it is very touching. It actually got me all teary, thinking about my daughter. Thank you for this!

Rememberance
What an exquisite piece of music. It is astounding to hear this final version, so perfectly flowing. This is music that touches the heart in the deepest ways. The final instrumentation here is stupendous, the ones taken out and added in since I last heard it - every choice and change brings yet more elegance to this piece. Futz's mentoring (and his cool studio!) brought this into the shining light of day. Congratulations shay, you've turned a corner and there's no going back!

No need for words...
because this piece speaks volumes. I didn't hear the original or the updates, but I know the finished work is truly amazing. Kudos to you and for the ones who helped you to develop it. This makes me wish I had taken piano lessons. and the instrumentation is a feast in my headphones.

Good music, good people, good times
I love this piece, and it will always linger on in my memory of a wonderful day spent with Shay and Futz and family. I am fascinated by mixing and it is not a portion of Shay's creative process that I usually get to observe. Thanks to you both for letting me be a (distracting) fly on the wall.

Wow Shay!!!
This is absolutely wonderful. I love the orchestral intro and your use of motif - with the solo piano repetition. Great job by Patrick to mix the piano and orchestral sounds so well. You've really outdone yourself here - and transported us to lush fields of emerald green - softly caressed by channel breezes. Delightful!

WOWSER WOW .....
... truly EPIC in parts .. the way one is instantly drawn in from the first opening note ... and then the swells carry you right on through .... absolutely georgeous ... you should be truly proud! This is dynamic! Hits one square in the middle of the heart strings!

Wonderful!!
Can I say Shay that I have just listened to all your uploads and I think they are all beautiful. Especially the rememberance one. I used to be an organist in a crematorium (perish the thought) and I used to get bored of playing the same old fashioned stuff there. If only i'd known about this piece then! Beautiful, keep writing! I also love especially the Witch dance. Brilliant!

The issue at hand
when I am late to a song is that everyone has already said everything Id want to. So Im just gonna chime in and heap some adulation and praise upon you because you totally deserve it. This song represents to me, what this community is all about. One musician reaching out for help to others for a heartfelt and dear dear piece. Its beautiful in both sound and substance and it makes it all a bit more than just download worthy.
Thank you Shay.

Emotional
This piece is so emotionally evocative. I agree that people would be interested in using this as a soundtrack. It just pulls at the heart strings. Very beautiful.

dynamics
Tasty textures with your splendid use of dynamics.
It is so nice to hear what is possible with software these days. Now, all students of music, who don't have the money to go to the better schools, have the opportunity to hear their ideas realized. Old days, you'd have to search the practice rooms to conjure up a group of players ready to play and even then, not all the parts would get played.
Listening to this, sure makes me want to dabble again in bigger projects, but time is such a hard thing to come by these days and you have to pick and choose.
Thanks for reminding me of what is possible.
