Lyrics RE-GIFTED

I say the word, the wind obeys
The autumn swirl, the length of days
I make a sign, I turn the rhyme
And lo, she comes again

Dancing and laughing we run with the tide
You gave your song to the Sea
I conjure darkness for lovers to hide
You gave your last breath to me

On my command, the shadows grow small
The summer swell, the nightingale call
I make a sign, I pantomime
And lo, I’m alone again

Dancing and laughing we run with the tide
You gave your song to the Sea

Nice Tune Luna ....
I would have to say that I would have liked to hear the vocals a little more up front in the mix .. they came across slightly muddy to my ears ..... not that I am one to give mixing advice .. but I might turn down the volume on the ticky ticky drum beat (and slightly on some other instruments here and there) to give it space for the vox ... and then bring the vox up ....

LunaTrick said 167 days ago
Thanks Alannah...
I take your point on the mix - but what did you think of the song?
Your opinion is always welcomed.

Reinholt56 said 168 days ago
Hi Daniel.....
I thought this was a great song but had mixing issues.

The voice was a bit 'back' in the mix as well as quiet.

There was a slight 'glitch' near the end, as two parts didn't seem to fit together.

The lyrics were very interesting and thought evoking.

Take care.

Paul

All I can say..
is that I did this song a while back - and my vocal recording has got better since. I'm learning to put my voice more forward in the mix - and I'm now recording with better mics. Thanks for your imput!

gail60 said 168 days ago
nice...
This is a good song and I really enjoy hearing you sing. You did a great job here Daniel. Thanks for sharing it with us!

LunaTrick said 167 days ago
Thanks Gail
You are very kind - and good for my confidence. Cheers for that!

Having no clues about how to mix properly, I have no two cents to add in to that discussion (sounds fine to me). Great to hear you singing - terrific song Daniel!

LunaTrick said 167 days ago
Alright Karen...
I take people's point - but it's all so subjective - many people like the mix fine. I did tend to be shy about vocals at this point though!

easytbird said 168 days ago
Mixed fine for me
I dig the bass & drums ,,,,The VOX plenty up front for the mix.

Right on! Daniel

LunaTrick said 167 days ago
Right on Easy
I'm a guitarist who works hard on my bass lines - so I appreciate the encouragement!

Sounds great!
I like it. Could use a some more keyboard chords in the background. I love the right side melody it goes perfect.

Thanks!

Ed

In that case
Check out my Swimmer & the Siren - which has just that! Cheers!

Enjoyed this very much
You have a really nice warm rich voice, and that comes through fine for me ... no complaints about the mix. And once again you display your ability to write thoughtful lyrics. A very enjoyable piece all round.

LunaTrick said 167 days ago
Ahh Rebsie...
If you have no complaints then I'm truly happy. Thanks for all your encouragements!

Cool song
I like song. Its very original. Vocals sound good. You say you are using an SM58? Is it a n SM58 condenser mic or just a garden variety SM58. Either way the vocals sound good and contrary to previous opinions I think they are "sitting" pretty well in the mix. I don't think the issue is volume, perhaps EQ (of instruments encroaching on vocals) might help to bring it out. Back to the song - I very much enjoyed it.

LunaTrick said 167 days ago
Thoughtful comment...
Just a regular 58 - but I'm graduating from those for vocals. Thanks for the encouragement - and I'll be checking your stuff out!

michael2 said 168 days ago
nice
vocals sound good to me, having used the SM58 a bunch for vocals, they do have that signature EQ thing peculiar to that mic (i could never figure out how to make it more crisp), but that doesn't bother me at all. it's a really nice song, guitar parts are great, love that beat, your voice sounds great; only wish it had gone on a bit longer. i kept picture it coming back in after the solo chord at the end, if just for a minute with a nice lazy solo. that said, the ending is good, i just kept picturing it as i listened (2x in a row). great job.

LunaTrick said 167 days ago
Thanks Michael
Very thoughtful and helpful comment. I have some new recordings coming that feature more intricate guitar work - and perhaps bolder vocals. So I hope you'll keep listening. I really like your work too!

Karmatoburn said 168 days ago
very
original. Luv the funked, swirling rythymic groove. Your vocals just float over that...so nice
