Description I deeply thank Feter, for without his helpful critique and suggestions, this song may have never seen the light of day.
(You might say it would still be "in the darkness waiting.")
;-)

--------------------------

We all want to live forever.

But, imagine actually being immortal.

What would immortality really feel like?

How many loved ones could you bare to see pass on?

How hard would it be to get attached to someone, only to know that you would one day watch them perish, while you live on forever?

In your eternal existence, you would be left with nothing more than the haunting memories of a distant past and the darkness that surrounds you.

Immortality is endless like the ocean, as eternal as the mountains, and as real as the sun.
Lyrics Do you remember as a child
when you saw a light in the dead of night,
and you knew it was the beginning of the end?

Do you remember when she died?
I'm the tears you cried.
I'm the air she breathed, when she took her final breath.

I'm as old as time.
I'm the sun, I'm the sky.
I'm the light that shines when you squint your eyes,
as I gaze down on you.

It's your last night
So say goodbye
As the sun sets
On a Western sky
As the moon rises
Don't you cry
I'm the Darkness waiting

I go by many names, but to me it's all the same.
I've swam the oceans and the seas,
walked a million miles through the trees.

I've slept in graveyards, rode in boxcars,
stunk of red wine and cheap perfume.
As the city sleeps, I've seen some things
I hope you never do.

Father, hear my cries...

Hey Dee,
I'm sorry to hear that you lost 2 people you cared about.
I don't believe in coincidences, so maybe you heard this song for a reason?
Thank you for the kind words, I'm so glad you enjoyed.
I think you totally rock! ;-)

Keep Writing
This is a great song and your singing really makes it come alive! You have a unique and powerful voice with a great sense of drama. The new version has better intonation and a more even tone. I want to hear more of your songs and more of your voice! Also I like the sexy pics.

Thanks Wayne
Thanks for listening (and commenting) on both versions.
It means a lot.
You know, Birdman, I think we enjoy a very similar record collection.
(Bands like Opeth, Dream Theater, Metallica)

Nice music bed
I really like the intro bass sound, really sets the scene... nice guitar work, love the violin & organ touches... bit of a darkwave BOC touch to your emotive singing. Cool evocative lyrics. The mix seems to be missing some midrange punch after it gets going, not sure exactly what's missing, but it sounds like the EQ is off a little. I think that, like "The Truth", this could be another heavy hitter, with a little more work here and there.

epic
very nice production and tight performance! really dig how you lose the reverb in favour of delay in the choruses.

also totally digging the unique instruments interspersed. from the close-encounters synth at the very start, to the huge sounding church organ. good stuff!

resonance
Musically and lyrically rich. I love the low deep pedal tones. Your voice has just a hint of stretching that gives it a very intimate vibe. I've also always wanted to be a vampire :-) (sort of immortal), so the song speaks to me.
nice

Very cool
Great sound. I love the intro - dark and impressive. Lyrics are very well-crafted, with some wonderful imagery, and great lines. A very evocative and memorable track. Nicely done. Kudos. Peace.
