Description This is a recording of a recent Splinter jam session at Ultrasound rehearsal studios in NYC. Recorded straight to Zoom H2 digital 2 track. Our first session with a new drummer MarcB.

Stu - bass, LSD25 - guitar, MarcB - drums, Bud - guitar and vocals.

This takes a little while to get going - but eventually something happens - I think. You tell me.

Thanks to Karen, Bob and Mark for commenting on the earlier release that had a crackling sound I didn't notice. Hopefully this sounds better.
Hardware Zoom H2, iMac G5, four piece rock band
Software: BG3, Audacity

How Long
I thought I was seeing things! So - ditto what I said before - lol - I didn't notice any crackling sound either (still waking up - that's my only excuse!)

bud said 221 days ago
Thanks for stopping back Karen
This is a bit rough around the edges - but it cleans out the cobwebs.

paul f. page said 222 days ago
The rhythm track...
...strikes me as just about perfect. I was, though, waiting for a really wild lead guitar flying out of there...was a little disappointed. I had the work really hard to hear the vocals...and finally just decided to concentrate on the great rhythm track. Seems like this number has a ways to go in development, but it is sure a great start. [just my opinion...and I am probably not qualified to make it!]

Paul

bud said 221 days ago
You're right Paul -
we were saying the same thing - where's our 19 year old shredder to rip over this? We've all slowed down a bit I'm afraid - and truth is - I never was a shredder to begin with. Really nice of you to listen and comment.

Vic Holman said 221 days ago
how long was it?
I wasn't paying attention to the time.

I had the headphones cranked on this. So I had a better feel of being at a concert. If my ears ring for a while, so be it.

Fun, to listen to an extended jammin' version. along the Crazy Horse line. this fits the bill.

bud said 221 days ago
It was a fun night -
we were rock gods in our own minds for seconds at a time. Priceless.

Feter said 221 days ago
How Long?
Ahhhh ...nothing I mean nothing realy best than
live performance .a real headbanger jammin song
everybody Rock so hard ...the drum the bass player
the guitars burn on fire ..great singing my friend !!
closin my eyes listenin to this ...its been along
time since woodstock since I heard such rockin ..
thnx alot for sharin Bud YOU ROCK !!!!

bud said 221 days ago
Hey Feter -
so kind of you to drop by. Glad you enjoyed this as much as we did. Rock on Brother!

dajama said 221 days ago
Great groove on this
I love the guitar sound, and the drums sound good, too. Vocals are a little lost in the mix, but the singing sounds good - reminds me of Ian Curtis in passages. Great loose vibe. I think Vic hit the nail on the head with the Crazy Horse reference. Very cool. Nicely done. Peace.

bud said 221 days ago
You're right about the mix -
but there was no mix - just four guys in a room with a questionable PA. what you hear is what we had. Vic is right - I've got a little Crazy Horse in everything I do I think. They exist at a high level of mediocrity that I aspire to.

Yeah
There is just nothing like what you can get from a good jam session. It seems like the best stuff can come up. Good thing you recorded it. I love this stuff.
Great track Bud.

kool sounds
great vox sounds like a muddy Neil Young it has a 70's feel to this, could imagine it playing at woodstock. great jam guys, hit the spot.

gregd said 221 days ago
Fort Collins . . .
This reminds me of a band that lives and plays in my former college town, called Drag the River. I love the scratchy quality of this recording, like Op Ivy's CD: it took me a while to warm to the sound, but now I'm hooked; thanks for fulfilling my lo-fi fix.
Cool bootleg, Splinter.

Is that a dog?
At the end of this recording is there a dog cheering for you all, or am I just hearing things?

Great live
sound bud - sounds like you were having fun. You sound more like Neil Young than Neil Young.
Great listen.
Cheers

Gritty and grimey in all the right places[erformance is spot on, the recording is somewhat blown out a bit. The atmosphere this creates splits the wall paper Excellent!

Peter Bauckham said 220 days ago
This is a great session
you sound really together - real Neil Young thing going on - which I love. Not sure which version is which? Loved it anyway.

Peter

davisamerica said 219 days ago

Hey Bud man

bud said 213 days ago
Hey Benny -
Nice hearing from you. I'm working on a rig to take to the rehearsal space where I can get a little more control over my live vocal sound. The roughness will still be there though - we're not that good to do it any other way.

Macaudion said 213 days ago
uh oooh...
I'm a little late here, and trying to play catch up. My apologies, Bud and the gang.

Dign' the dirtiness 'round bout the edges. An authentic jam session, indeed. This one grabbed me, Bud! I'm willing to bet that I've just listened to this "grungy piece of rockn' blues thang" more than anyone else has.

Nice jammin! As real as it gets!

Thanks for putting it out for the grab. Macca

bud said 213 days ago
Thanks Macca -
I know about late - I can't keep up with this place for a minute lately. Glad you could get into this one.

lavalamp said 213 days ago
Huh?
Have I heard this before. Live stuff! Cool.

I did a solo GB version of this last year
and pulled it out at tour jam. It's also on the splinter page - which you may have visited I think.

19 Year Old Shredders
...not sure if this needs one of those or not. I listen to this, drink a cold beer and feel a few drops of sweat work their way down my back (it's 97 degrees up here in the train room where I make my GB music) and this loose, swampy groove seems just right for the heat.

Don't worry, I brought enough beer for everyone. You guys got ice?

bud said 209 days ago
Swampy Groove
you make it sound kinda romantic. Pass the beer.

rsorensen said 211 days ago
hot
this is awesome once you guys get into it. reminds me a lot of neil young and crazy horse. great jam! must have felt good.

bud said 209 days ago
Glad you stopped by
I can't seem to get off of that horse no matter how hard I try.

Ejh said 210 days ago
Well, sure...
...it has much of Neil Young and Crazy Horse to it, but I'm also hearing some echoes of the old ROIR tape I had of the band Television...

I suspect that it works best over headphones, where you can hear deeper into the mix and get more of a sense of it as a song...

Nice staggering rockness...

Ed

bud said 209 days ago
Thanks Ed -
Television - now there's a band to reckon with.

said 209 days ago
Classic sounds!
Nice collab guys! Keep the jams comin!

Be well!

Heightened said 208 days ago
The song itself is frigging bloody
awesome. Recording not so much. It sends shivers up my spine to think of where this song can go after everything is a bit tighter and rerecorded.
