Description Throughout the years as a songwriter I have not been inclined to advance any messages or political agendas with my songs. But when the plight of famine for children robs them of their innocence, grace and childhood peace, then that's something I can feel proud to try to make a difference with my songwriting.

I wrote this song for the Oxfam cause and it was included on a compilation cd to raise funds and awareness against child famine.

Lyrics It’s Up To You

© Words & Music John LaMantia 2008

It’s time to think about
All those that live without
The ones who struggle hard
To get a better deal of cards
There’s something you can do
To help to see them through
To find some happiness
Shine some light into their darkness

It’s up to you
We need you now
To show your strength
To teach us how
You’ve got to know
The help you give
Will make a change
A difference in the way we live
It’s up to you
We need you now

Along the path of life
The pain, the loss and strife
The times you feel so low
Believing there’s no place to go
Imagine those that know
Much less than you can show
They fight for food to eat
For shoes upon their children’s feet

It’s up to you
We need you now
To show your strength
To teach us how
You’ve got to know
The help you give
Will make a change
A difference in the way we live
It’s up to you
We need you now

Some Things Transcend Politics
Starving and suffering children is most certainly one of those things. Kudos to you John, for lending a hand --- and a bunch of talent --- to this cause.

Lots of good things happening in this tune, but I must say the guitar work is exceptional... well-played and right on the musical money. Very cool stuff. ;)
