Description the final short part for harpsichord, at 0:26 the accent in the left had is shifted briefly to the off beat. I had heard Fats Waller and Art Tatum pull this trick several times on their records but had never heard it done before that until I heard it done in one of the movements in the French suite by Bach. I love the effect of it.

Bit of a clever bugger then?
Very well played and, like your other pieces, you have caught the style very well.

Always nice to hear a bit of Alberti bass.

Cheers

God John!
Is there ANYTHING you cannot do dude!?

Yet again you continue to amaze!

woofer3 said 225 days ago
Hi Mark-
I think it's good to get interested in all types of music, I used to work at one time with a double bass player who in the day time worked with the Welsh Opera and at night used to play with a rockabilly band and that's true. Great rock'n'roll player too, really used to go for it on stage.

Thanks for listening,

John.

Well, ...
...that was sure pleasant. It is so nice to hear a super little harpsichord number that is not only written well, but played expertly, too. I was just fishing around and found this. Glad I did.
Peace.

Differences
Hi,

Q: Is there a way to tell what DAW was used to make the recordings? I'd like, for example, to know whch ones were created in GarageBand.

Ken N.

woofer3 said 222 days ago
thank you Tokai and Pixelbird
In answer to Pixelbird's question, none of these tracks were done on Garageband. They were all done using a very early verson- midi only- of Cubase. I still use Cubase today only now it's an SX version. Hope that answers your question. The phasing sound that can be heard here and there, particularly on the more orchestral tracks are probably to do with the tape it was eventually transfered to.

Very authentic
Ok, as a composition this is the real thing. It sounds convincing.

Eh, I keep hearing pops, for instance at 0:17 and 0:18. At 0:34-0:35 it's like someone ate your tape.

0:25 - 0:40 is absolutely wonderful

Your harpsichord sounds much more bassy than a real one does. That makes passages like 0:42-0:52 way too boomy. Also, there you're using chords in the left hand, which I believe is not idiomatic for the period. It makes the sound a bit too thick.

woofer3 said 220 days ago
not a fave then Vic ay ?
thanks anyway. the chords were actually intervals, I'd never use a chord at such depth in any music.

Wow
Very authentic sounding Baroque music. Outstanding composition and superb performance. By the way I love Bach's French suites also.

woofer3 said 151 days ago
thank you ace
yes I like the French suites as well, I heard someone once refer to Bach's music as typewriter music, and although that doesn't sound very complimentary I know exactly what they mean ! - I'm pleased that you enjoyed this.
