Apogee
You're so COURAGEOUS for even trying Logic Pro (having quickly given up on LP Express around Xmas time) - so kudos for that. PLUS - this song is GREAT!! If this is you not knowing Logic Pro, can't wait to hear what happens when you DO learn it (watch out world!) Really, it sounds like you've got it all figured out. Really interesting sounds, great beats, especially like the additional little sub-tunes as they come in. Great work Miss C!

MissChaos said 226 days ago
thanks Karen
I gave up on Logic Express 2 years ago. Honestly, I just couldn't "get it". But I really believe you'd catch on to Pro much quicker. Maybe you can find a trial version? Thanks so much for your support-- means a lot coming from such a brilliant musician!

Great!
Happy to hear a new tune from you, it has been 9 months (exactly) since your latest. Amazing piece, great choice of sounds... Loved it!

Take Care
- Yeman A. Al-Rawi

MissChaos said 226 days ago
thank you Yeman
Wow, until you mentioned it, I hadn't realized it had really been THAT long. That time has really flown by now that I have school-aged kids. Hopefully I won't let another 9 months go by without making music. Thanks so much for stopping by here. I hope you are well!

Henke said 227 days ago
This does not sound like chaos to me
But it very much sounds like Miss Chaos! LP or not. Actually I would have thought you used LP before, thanks to your earlier professional sounding songs and mixes. I love them all, this one included. Indeed, what will come if you think you have a long way to go from this..!? Thank you so much for sharing here!

/Henke

MissChaos said 226 days ago
Hey Henke!
Good to see you around here! I know I've been completely absent from music and MJ for way too long. But it's so comforting to know that I can come back and not be forgotten. Thanks so much and I hope you are well!

Moviz said 227 days ago
Like Karen said
you're brave for even trying, as far as I'm concerned too. I love the sound you've got here; a good variation of modern and light classical, which you've pulled together perfectly, cheers M

MissChaos said 226 days ago
Thanks!
It's funny, no matter how hard I try, I always end up with some sort of classical element. I can't help it -- I love the blend of electronic and classical.

Chaos versus Logic
Chaos ALWAYS wins! Wooooot, about Time we got a new MsChaos tune.... ahhhh. No wonder you've been away so long, I now see that it is because you were sequestered away in a high mountain cave, reading the Logic Pro manual! :-) Really nice touches here, as usual, love the growly bass that just swells up enough to be noticeable before ebbing away again (nice cello-like hits at 1/3 mark too). Your stuff is so smooth. Crisp and clean, that's the way I like it! This starts out ALMOST like one of my favorite songs by the Eurythmics :-) Great synthy stuff, as always. Thank you!
ttfn,
Drakonis

MissChaos said 226 days ago
thanks!
Sorry it's been so darn long! Acutally, I've been sequestered in a fog of kindergarten madness! I can't believe how my calendar has filled since the twins have become school-agers. It's all these darn birthday parties. :-) Thanks, as always, for your support.

chuck_t said 227 days ago
Nice sounds
Nice sounds, I find it really hard getting the synths in logic not to sound just like the synths in logic if that makes sense? Anyway youve done it well, better than I can and Ive been using the program for like 2 years!

MissChaos said 226 days ago
yep
I totally know what you mean! Though this time, I agonized over the tempo and timing more than the soft synths. My guess is next time I'll probably spend another 9 months trying to get the synths right. Your compliment means a lot! I really felt like a floundering moron trying to work my way through Logic Pro sans the manual.

kristyjo said 227 days ago
Brave woman -
to be moving to a new program! I'm hearing all of the great stuff i like in your music - crisp entrances, layer upon layer upon layer, a beat that's driving, yet not annoyingly boring. Logic Express 7 let me do one piece of music in a couple of months of working, so I am very impressed with this offering of a full length tune of this quality on your first try on LP8!
Now that you know how it works ;) we'll be looking for more of the inimitable Miss Chaos sound here!

MissChaos said 226 days ago
well...
actually it took my 9 months to offer this lil' tune! :-) I hope I can find more time in the next 9 month to mess with Logic than the last 9 months. I actually gave up on Logic Express 2 years ago because I found it so difficult. Thanks for your encouragement, as always.

Logic tuorials
The tutorial videos at www.macprovideo.com are excellent. Helped me out a lot.

I almost forgot about those. Thanks for the reminder. I will check that out!

MissChaos said 226 days ago
aw, thanks!
Glad to be back... for a little while anyhow. :-)

I really like this. You brought it all together quite nicely. Great beat and melody throughout. You are very talented and what a pleasure it is to enjoy your music. Thanks for sharing with us!

Hi Gail
Thanks very much!

Bubowski said 226 days ago
Oh GAWD!
This is truly awesome! Not to sound like I'm gushing or anything, but this is really really nice. I love the little lo-fi elements you throw in with that pristine sound. I hope you're happy to have made the transition....it isn't really too bad actually (it's hard fro me to go back to GB at all now). What a great piece to come back to...I'm so happy to have another Miss C tune to add to my collection. Well done!.

Ooh
I love the title. Apogee. Probably because it has too do with flight. Want to name something that. Such an awesome name :D

And I see you are using Logic 8?!?! Yaaaay. Good. You are in the logic world. So glad :).

Like the arco strings and the piano riffs. Lightly used choir voices are a nice touch too.

ha!
It's about time, right?! LP is so much more intuitive than express... Wow. I was playing and recording on my very first launch of the software! Thanks for listening. Looking forward to more of YOUR stuff too!

caroline said 226 days ago
i am so impressed...
as someone who bear-ly got past pressing the record button in gb this kinda stuff amazes me - nice to see you back on the scene too xox

MissChaos said 225 days ago

It's good to be (sort of) back. Summer vacation, baby!!! xxoo!

i am in the airport right now, so i will comment more on this later! This is awesome as always. Well worth the wait.

Impressive first foray
into the world of Logic. Lisa and I made the jump last fall and haven't looked back. This does have all the hallmarks of your past work, but sounds fresh, not overdone.

Matt

MissChaos said 225 days ago
hey matt
good to see you here... Thanks for the comment. I'm glad you like this one. It was fun for me to write something with so little direction and with such a "light" air. Most of my stuff is way too over-thought and serious. I like this Logic Pro Practicing. :-)

The Orbiting said 225 days ago
P.S.
I also wanted to add how much I've been enjoying this the last couple of days (and am so happy to see you back) and how much the opening remind me of a really cool Eurythmics-style track.

The Orbiting said 225 days ago
and uh..
that was from me, Lisa.

MissChaos said 225 days ago
smile
Thanks Lisa. I really do miss my interactions here. I try to lurk, really I do. But before I can even click Play, I've got a kid tugging on my shirt needing something for school. Why are these little creatures so needy?!?! :-) I'm really hoping for some extra creative time this summer. I have to catch up on all the fine music here! And your latest is nothing short of amazing! I was totally inspired...

Nice style ! Congrats on logic MC, hope you have plenty of fun with it. It sure seems like you are doing that with this fun to listen tune.

Thanks for sharing

Thanks Bill! I wish I could spend more time around here. I miss my macjams pals!

VicDiesel said 225 days ago
Party time tonight!
Hey, that's a pretty cool track for just a tryout. Combination of loops and programming? I upgraded from LP7 to 8 a while back, and I know that I now have thousands of loops, but I still haven't used a single one of them. Loops are way too hard. It's easier to just play them damn notes yourself!

Anyway, regardless of how you did this, it's a cool tune. Nice mix of electronic and occasional (sampled) acoustical sounds.

MissChaos said 225 days ago
Hey Vic
Thanks for the listen. I wonder how much different Logic Pro 7 is to 8. Because honestly, I had a copy of LE 7 for 2 years and couldn't even record a single track. But just upon opening LP8 I could tell it was more intuitive and easy to navigate. It was more "Garageband-like". Anyhow, I played all the tracks on here with my Korg but still use, chop up and reconstruct percussion loops. The supplied loops really intimidate me because I just don't think I'd be any good at mixing them together into something coherent. It's easy for me to play what I want to play. (and fix it if I mess up) :-)

kassia said 225 days ago
Apogee
I absolutely love the strings in this piece, and the piano. It's an awesome dance tune yet different with those "classical/acoustic" elements added. This is a superb beginning effort at LP8. I'm tackling LE8 right now and am not anywhere close to this. lol Since I only joined MJs a couple months ago, I haven't been waiting as long for a new tune from you - but now that I've heard one you can bet that I'll be adding myself to your fan list and being impatient about hearing new things! Good luck with kindergarten!

MissChaos said 225 days ago
wow, thanks!
I'm totally honored! Welcome and I will check out your stuff too!

And I agree with Karen: can't wait to hear when you've got it down...

Heya Miss C!
Ive just started using LP as well. Im just dropping my GB files on it for now and then going and playing around with all the doohickies and what nots.

I am sooooo happy to see you posting again. I missed your sounds so much. This is beautiful, nice breaks and levels are all pretty decent and of course your a wiz with strings.

Congrats to you for taking the LP step, so cool to see that a bunch of long time GB'ers are movin' up (so to speak).

Thanks for posting!

MissChaos said 224 days ago
Hey J!
Good to see you too! So you're learning LP too - very cool. There are a few things that just irk me because I can't figure them out and am too impatient to read the manual. I may try out those tutorial videos that someone mentioned above. Anyhow, thanks so much. You always make me smile. I still have one of your emails printed out and nearby when I'm feeling unmotivated.

Warren Smith said 224 days ago
Book learning
If you can create this kind of a wonderful soundtrack by just skimming the manual ... look out when you actually read the dang thing : >

MissChaos said 223 days ago
*if*
IF I read the dang thing. :-) One of my many flaws in my lack of patience. And we all know reading a software manual requires patience... thank you so much for listening Warren!

bud said 221 days ago
Forget about reading the manual
just keep making great music like this and exploring the new world around you. The analog bass synth sounds fantastic and the whole arrangement is wonderful.

MissChaos said 217 days ago
bud!
From someone who consistently makes great and creative music, I'll take this as a compliment!

Give me a call anytime you have a Logic question.

MissChaos said 217 days ago
Thanks, Brandon
LP is much easier than my previous version of LE. I'm more of a hands-on learner, so hopefully I'll figure this all out by experimenting. But I will definitely give you a ring when I get stuck. And I expect that will be more often than not! :-)

Ejh said 219 days ago
You've got...
...really elegant musical taste, Miss C...

I'm enjoying the simplicity of this, and the attention to small details, and the high quality of each individual instrument sound...

Has an almost Pachelbel Canon feel in the way it cycles through, adding and subtracting bits, and still remaining interesting...

Good to hear from you again...

Ed

MissChaos said 217 days ago
hi Ed!
Wow, it's been awhile! Thanks for your kind comments. I try to lurk around here as much as possible, but life is busier than ever. I miss you all though! I hope you are well, friend.

said 217 days ago
Oh dear
I have along way to go if this you just starting out on a new set up!

The tune is great and I particularly love the cello sounds you have going on in there. More ambient than dance-club, but I think this goes thru many genres as you can see by the cross-section of artists who have commented on "Apogee".

I look forward to more - imagine how it will be in a few months when you are in the swing of it

MissChaos said 217 days ago
hey ScaryCar!
Thanks very much. I trekked over to your page to return the favor but didn't see any music posted. Let me know when you've got one available. Oh, and I love your profile photo!

said 217 days ago
Thank you!
I am awaiting approval from the management for my first tune - they say it's 1 - 3 DAYS!!! Hope it's worth the wait (ambient vocal) and is accepted. It's not explicit or anything, I guess a new face has to do the rounds first!

Glad you like the pic of Mr S. Car...

I know guy's that have played, with that program
for about a year now, an they are no closer to you
as the earth is to the Moon.....
It's just changing time and keys you should be concerned
with, your mixing talent is top shelf all ready.....

I............LIKE IT............

hey thanks, soundhound. That's really encouraging. It sure takes a lot of dedication and patience to learn this. I have to work on the patience part. :-) Thanks again!

E-Frame Wrecker said 153 days ago
Gee...
Nice build up of the song. Started out and I thought of Annie Lennox - Sweet Dreams and just kept building from there. There is a term in classical music when you build a song around a riff - can't remember what it is. Sounds like Logic is working out for you. Mix is good and the sound is rich in tone and layers. Not bad for someone who calls themselves Miss Chaos

regulus said 134 days ago
I is a delight
to drop in and ear what you, the long timer here, has done as of late and I'm glad I did. You definitely are geting better and better as time goes on. This, per say, is not really my brand of of music, but I must say I enjoyed enough to do a download. Really melodic, consistent in it's evolution in it's color spectrum. Some nice warm, friendly feelings with the lower tones and you say you just getting into logic. I guess I'll have to just wait for the next segment in the life of Chaos to hear what is. I guess you turned my ear to this genre.

I listen to Fireflies a lot as one of my fav's.
