Description Written and recorded in 1992 - I think.

In case you wonder what the song is about, I got the idea from the Viz comic which is British . Betty was a cartoon character in it who also as I remember was a very ugly ballerina who underwent plastic surgery to get her back to ordinary. When the day came to remove the bandages she looked like Bob Holness. I can't remember anything much else about the story, but I remember thinking at the time - what a lovely name. It was made many years ago on an old Atari 1040 and a portastudio so it comes with it's own hiss as well. This amazingly got some radio play as well about a year ago. The picture above is of where it was recorded, - this must have been one of the very first bunion productions. I must check out this comic some more.

Thank you Feter,
your comments are always valued and welcome. It's a very silly story I think.

I hope you're ok,

Best wishes to you from us Welshies here in the hills,

John.

Bob faced Betty
I'll have a pee please Bob.
You never cease to amaze me John - another great song with off the wall lyrics. Production is pretty good I think for 16 years ago, I had (and still do - in a cupboard, I think) an Akai sound on sound tape recorder (poor man's Teac or Ampeg) that I loved, but from the 70's. Must dust it off one day and see what's on the tape.
Cheers
Len

Thank you Leonard
I'm glad you liked it, actually it was an Atari 1040 computer I used and a Roland sound canvas that generated most of the sound here but yes I did have an Akai [4000 ?] as well. I thought I'd hit the big time when I took delivery of that- 7.5 ips - how good can it get !!

Best wishes,

John.

Love that cool sound starting off
nice jumpy sound.

Reminds me of a puppeteer boobin up and down a puppet to your wonderuf funky music. So original.

You sure have a unique style woofer, even your name woofer is cool.

Such interesting solos, I can't even give an understanding of how in the world you make some of the souful sounds.

Your music to me is some of the most unique stuff on this site. Especially when it comes to dancin and prancin and singin with that sassin voice.

Way to Go woofer

Hi there Bill
you are a bit like me in as much as music conjours up pictures for you. I remember a Bach piece [one of the Brandenbergs- one of the 3/4 movements] that always reminded me of a chess game, it's hard to dscribe but I still see it now. -It's my age maybe?

Thank you Bill for listening and for your comments.

Hello Jonny Jape

Another cracker from the master. Love it and that Piano sounds fantastic.

Read your 'Blog' really interesting read. Nice one John. What a great pity
your Wife is not interested in your music.

Then again my Dad was more interested in our Dog called Rodger than he was of me his Daughter.
But i still adored our Dog. :) Thats just me though.

Peace Dee.

Peace Dee.

well there you go
some you win and some you lose, I think a lot of family's are the same. Mabe I should have married Bob Face Betty, -what do you think ? just remembered my uncle had a dog called Roger as well, - he was a black lab.

Anyway, thanks Dee for listening.

Hey man
I know what you mean when you classified this as "children's" music, but it really isn't. It sounds a bit like Nilsson in the beginning, especially the singing. The middle is another story.

I really dig this, but the "children's music" genre may keep the hits down on this and it SHOULD be heard.

Great stuff.......btw read the blog.

Thanks Dave
but to be honest I didn't really know what to call this. I'm sometimes at a loss to put a handle on things.

Appreciate your comments though just the same.

I wasn't going
to post this, but a friend of mine heard it and said he liked it so I tried to clean it up a bit and here it is, - complete nonsense - a song just for the sake of it!

Thanks for listening and for your kind words as well,

John.

Defies genres
Delightfully eccentric combinations of sound which I'm beginning to realise is your special trademark. I like the strange piano sound ... well, I like all of it. Original and different.

woofer3 said 228 days ago
I put it under
childrens music but don't really know what you'd call it.

Glad you liked it and thanks for the listen.

funnily enough...
i had a chum who worked on viz so i got a listen and a memory too - i also enjoyed blockbuster, this tune and the lyrics so - all in all - a great package as far as i am concerned - thank you

woofer3 said 228 days ago
You know I just wish
I'd kept that copy of Viz with Bob Face Betty in as there was a picture of her[not colour as I remember] and I have never seen her since so I don't know if she was a one off or not as I was not a regular reader. I did like Big Vern as well 'cos he used to get killed in every episode, and I have got a picture of him , -in colour.

Thanks for listening, on reflection if they'd used my Betty song in the Eurovision song contest we'd have almost certainly won, don't you think?

Break it Down
Good song, but I especially liked the break down or solo section. Gave us a chance to hear you really play.

Another great song.

woofer3 said 224 days ago
I don't remember for sure
but it sounds like the product of one of those post gig late night sessions I used to indulge in years ago.

Thanks for visiting and commenting Tim,

John.
