Keywords word war two (1)watsons wizards (1)Messerschmitt me262 (1) ()
Description I wrote this in August 2002. and it is one of three demos that were made of the song.

It's about an American WW2 squadron led by a Colonel Watson . Their job was to retrieve injured German war planes mainly jets like the me.262 , and get them back to America to help the American military with their research. Many of these planes were almost wrecks so it was to say the least a very dangerous job. Sixty years on and these men are all but forgotten -until now ! The Messerschmitt me262 arrived to late on the scene to make much difference to it all it seems but there was evidence to suggest that the American P51s were holding their own against them very well despite being approx 100mph slower. Seems that speed is not everything in a dogfight, -apparently it takes too long to turn so I'm told,- a great looker though nevertheless.
Lyrics Watson's wizards by woofer3 [keyC]

verse1
Watson's wizards are leavin' in the morning ,
Sometimes they're up and sometimes they're down ,
Back in America a new day's dawning ,
For a new shape flyer with a different sound .

verse2
The American government was searchin' for the answer
Looking around they had turned to the East,
They needed to obtain a little downed technology,
Most of it abandoned when hostilities ceased.

chorus
Watson's wizards are doin' what they're best at ,
Bringing back the wreckage to the USA,
Watson's wizards are the unsung heros,
Never putting off what they can do today.

verse3
Europe was the place they had found a solution.
It was 1945 and the war was done,
The wizards moved in, took the pick of any salvage,
They knew they had to finish what they'd just begun

chorus

solo [as verse]

verse4
Ripping out the secrets of the German aviation,
Solving many problems that were taking up time,
The 262 was just one of the warbirds ,
Delivered by the wizarsd in an endless line.

chorus

What a great
rocker John - you really have a way with catchy songs. Your inspiration for lyrics is very unusual but always interesting. I can hear Status Quo doing this - would have been a massive hit!
Cheers
Len

Sounds like...
you're doing what you're best at. Great tune John, who knew you could get a history lesson with a rock and roll song. I especially liked the guitar's sound great licks too. Thanks for sharing this one.

well Guy,
I saw a documentry about these guys a few years ago and liked the name Watson's Wizards so I read up on them a bit and then wrote the song. I get a lot of my ideas from the television.

Thanks for commenting and listening.

John.

Another . . .
Great song and three minute history lesson. You should be at university teaching the youngsters history.

Great solo too. Did you play guitar and back with the piano?

woofer3 said 223 days ago
maybe I can sell this
to the education authorities ! I did play everything myself on here and as usual it's all done from scrath which is why it takes so much time. I can't really play much guitar but have always been lucky to have worked with so many good ones,- mind you Tim I've also worked with some very bad ones as well! - I would always pick their brains, [the good ones I mean] and try and learn from them. There used to be a lot of this Edmunds style around in Wales back in the seventies. One of my favourite tracks ever is -Louisiana Hoedown - by the Cardiff band Memphis Bend with Micky Gee on guitar - breathtaking - recorded at Rockfield Monmouth.

Best wishes and thank you Tim,

John
