Description Song about life. How'd you guess? Great fun collaborating with Jack, Roxy, and Paul on this. This macjams is the mother lode of talent. You got a spark? You got your fire! Hope everyone enjoys this.
Terry and all.

Post Production Note: Many thanks to Paul, Roxy and Terry for taking this to a new and wonderful place. And Thank You Magnatone for helping us initially find our way
ALSO .... Thanks to Jim of the Infinites and Neil [jiguma] for pushing us a little harder ... still got an ipod slot for us Jim?
:-] Jack
Lyrics All the lights would die if you ever said “Goodbye”

I’ve been thinking all around it, I’ve been thinking all through the night
Sometimes it’s hard just to get it right
A calculated phrase, a message falling from the sky
I’ll say anything and mean it, if it keeps you by my side

But have I shown you enough so that you believe
It’s not just words you need to stay in love with me
But, then I know it’s just as easy to let go sometimes
And sometimes I thought that you should know

I’ve been thinking about it, I’ve been trying to sort it out
Sometimes, I know, you’ve got to have your doubts
If I haven’t been the man I promised you I’d be
I swear that I’ll keep trying as long as you’re with me

All in all it’s been a lovely life, just you and I
And I would like to think you’ll never change your mind
But then I know it’s just as easy to let go sometimes
And sometimes I thought that you should know

Bertty nice
This is, beautifully sappy! Nice balance of composition. Who is, Jack and Paul? I this inkling that I should know...

Great arrangement! Nice vocals from everyone singing. Really struck by rightness of the orchestration.

A wonderful listen! Thanks for the traveler! Macca

right then....
this was months of back and forth with all involved ... Paul Page was wonderfully patient and Roxy ... well roxy is just an amazingly talented and witty artist to work with ... Thank you Roxy, Terry and Paul for taking this further .... :-} ... jack

Thank you, Jack!
I absolutely loved singing with and working with you and Terry, and hope to again. :-)

I absolutely loved working with you, Terry, and also Jack. And Paul did an amazing job with the orchestration. Someday I'll get my davisamericas 1 and 2 straight. <G>

wow...nice
I love this song! Very whimsical happy go lucky sound but yet something so tender and emotional about it too! Loved the lyrics and singing! Wonderful collab folks! Great job!!!

davisamerica2 said 230 days ago
Thank you Gail
"Whimsical" That' the word I was looking for in the list of genres. They need to add that. I'm glad you enjoyed the singing too. Roxy was the icing on the cake, and probably the cake as well. I think I was more like the flour you throw in the pan. Glad you enjoyed it. Terry

Roxylee said 225 days ago
Pshaw..
You guys were definitely the cake. I was the little roses decorations on the top.

I thought You Should Know
This turned out BEAUTIFULLY! Thanks for the thanks, but as you well know, I did NOTHING but be paralyzed by the lack of a click track. Luckily you found Paul Page, who can do anything! This is just wonderful, congrats to this great collab team - a new MJ band!

Wonderful collaboration
Lovely song with great lyrics and orchestration.
I can see this on a film score - towards the end of a christmas movie perhaps, just when the tears start. Well done.
Cheers
Len

davisamerica2 said 230 days ago
Thanks Len
Yes, I would like to hear this every time "an angel gets his wings." Glad you enjoyed it. Terry

drakonis said 232 days ago
Wow...
This is a gorgeous little vignette! It feels very Beatles-esque, very satisfying melody, the singing and harmonies are beautiful (but well duh, it is Jack & Roxylee & Terry there), and the instrumentation is absolutely perfectly arranged, way to go Paul! I remember Magnatone shaking her head early on with this and bemoaning the lack of any metronome/grid to go by :-) Paul, you did a masterful job crafting the instrumentation on this, fits very well. The overall mix sounds quite good too, good balance between voice and instruments, panned position voices was OK (perhaps a bit wide for headphones, but crisp.) And the lyrics are sweet and heartfelt. Well, that's about it, I thought that you should know.
ttfn,
Drakonis

Thanks Eduard
A comprehensive review, and well worth considering. I too felt a vague nagging about the vocal panning. Paul provided a sophistication and urbane quality that I, as a musical barbarian, can only dream about. It was great working with all these talented people.

guitapick said 232 days ago
Sweet piece...
...getting Paul and Roxy in there was a nice decision, davis...

Very nicely crafted work of art...thanks to all of you...

davisamerica2 said 230 days ago

Great!
Very nice collaboration, great work by everyone. This could be a soundtrack for Disney's animations (or cartoons!), really would fit perfectly. Great atmosphere. Thanks for sharing, really neat wonderful work.

Take Care

appreciate the comments Yemen
Disney has always used high quality and memorable music. Quite a compliment. Thanks again. Terry.

i'm
with Macaudion on this one: SAPPY. but great. i think i need to explore this mental picture i have of Burl Ives doing this one in some sort of animated 70's film. I'm picturing a bunch of fuzzly little forest animals singing the harmonies. great tune.

davisamerica2 said 230 days ago
Burl Ives?
You must have seen the picture on my drivers license! And some of my best friends are furry little animals. Glad you enjoyed it Michael. Terry

kassia said 230 days ago
Beatles?
Or more of a Peter, Paul and Mary feel. Great little whimsical tune. Lots of talent here and it all sounds great together. I loved the little flute line. Thanks all of you for a great collab!

davisamerica2 said 230 days ago
Thanks kassia
Peter, Paul and Mary? Beatles? These are icons in the musical world. Very gratifying to share their qualities. Thanks again. Terry

Moviz said 229 days ago
Well done All
This sounds so classy as though it's from a show or a musical... yet it has that warm personal touch.... great singing Terry and what a great backing group too.... the best, cheers M

davisamerica2 said 229 days ago
Glad you tuned in Maurice
Everyone pitched in from their creative treasure chests. I guess it wound up on my site because I got to sing it. Jack and Roxy and Paul are great to work with. I hope to do more with them. Thanks again for you comments. Terry

We were fortunate to get Roxy in on this. Her vocals are amazing. I too, am a fan. Glad you enjoyed this. Terry

Lovely
I love everything about this song. Great melody, lyrics, harmonies, everything.
Just one critisism........ it finished to soon.

davisamerica2 said 226 days ago
That's one criticism I can live with.
Really glad you listened Robert, and thanks for the encouraging comments. Terry

biba_nova said 226 days ago
Nice one
I agree with Drakonis on the vocal panning, otherwise great stuff

davisamerica2 said 220 days ago
Thanks Bryn
Yeah, the panning is being reworked. Thanks for listening and the comments. Terry

I get a distinct Pink Floyd feeling from your combined vocals. Weird setting for it, hehe. nice arrangement, reminds me of some of Queen's stuff.

davisamerica2 said 220 days ago
Queen eh?
Gotta love being grouped with them. And when it comes to vocals, we could all learn from Pink Floyd. Thanks, Terry.

Dragonas said 222 days ago
Nice vocal work
Amazing compositional skills.
The melody is really strong and the orchestral arrangement sounds 100% professional.
Who composed this gem?
The vocals and the vocal harmonies are really well done!

davisamerica2 said 220 days ago
Thanks Drag
Jack (DA1) is the melody wizard on this, and planter of the seed. He let Roxy and me (Terry- DA2) do the singing, and also allowed me to add more lyrics. The orchestra arrangement is exactly what it is. Paul Page is a professional, and we were blessed by his input. Glad you enjoyed it. Terry

Alannah said 221 days ago
Very sweet .....
.... sometimes a good old dose of saccharine (spelling?) is just what the doctor ordered ...... and this was a fab lilt in the middle of all the chat we are having tonight .....

davisamerica2 said 220 days ago
Thanks Alannah,
I try to embrace the entire spectrum, from the Osmonds to Ozzie; from saccharine to cayenne pepper. Glad you liked it. Terry

Hey nice!
What a lovely song. Warm and whimsical! Very nice vocal Terry. And isn't it a hoot to have Roxy on board?

Kudos to all!

Be well!

davisamerica2 said 205 days ago
Thanks Michael
And yeah, it would have been a struggle to get this effect without Roxy. Jack and I are truly fortunate to have her on this one, And Paul...blessing # 2. For any tunesmith, Macjams is a gold mine. Thanks for listening. Terry
