Description I wrote this song after a chance meeting with Christina, a "mysterious" Opera singer.
We met at a choir rehearsal.
It all started when I heard this amazing soprano ringing through all of the other voices loudly and clearly.

I just had to meet the person behind that voice!

I finally met her and we talked about music and had a lot in common.
We exchanged numbers and ,(much later), I finally mustered up the courage to call her.

Eventually, we started dating.

She was having a very turbulent year with a lot of "violent" changes happening,
which inspired me to write this song.
The general idea is basically about the ability for people to determine "The Truth" from "Lies."
It seems that sometimes we forget how to do this and we try to see events in our life the way we want, instead of the way things really are, which can put us in very compromising positions.

This is a song for Christina and about her life.

----------------------
I want to thank Drakonis (Eduard) for taking the time to preview a rough version of this piece.
Without his excellent suggestions it never would have turned out so polished.
I also want to thank Christina for singing the soprano parts on this song.
;-)
Lyrics Do you know how long it's been?

Do you feel how long it's been?

Do you see how long it's been?

To be

To see

To know the Truth

-------------

Do you feel it?

-Everytime.

Can you see it?

-In your eyes.

Do you shiver?

-Down your spine.

Can you wait?

-One more time.

Art Rock...
I like the sound of that!
The fact that my song reminds you of Pink Floyd is a huge honor. :-)

Mystified said 234 days ago
haunting...
The song art drew me immediately (of course!)
And the music itself built upon that haunting and vulnerable image and setting.

This is an example of music expressing more than even the words..

Thank you for sharing this :)

ah thank you
I so glad you liked the haunting image and the song.
I means a lot that you were one the first people to come listen to it.

Thanks for stopping by to check it out.
I'm really glad you liked it.

excellent
I love the slow build-up on the overall song, and the raw strength imposed by the fifths... this feels like something the Blue Oyster Cult would have done, if they had thought it up.

I totally love what you did with the singer's voice now (after the sneak preview I got), you totally nailed just letting her peek through a few times before letting her really letting go at the end, making the listener wait for that last note. The only thing I'd critique on this would be there's a little bit of compression-hunting going on in the middle loud part that is distracting in headphones.

But man this is GREAT... you really polished this up! Faved/DLed.

Drakonis

drakonis said 234 days ago
oh forgot...
Your singing and playing on this are excellent too, BTW! Great job with the instrumentation and keeping things panned separately, everything is clear and balanced. And was that a real trumpet? Sounded like one.

Drakonis

Thank you for critiquing this piece and really pushing it in the right direction.
Without your suggestions, the song just wouldn't have worked out correctly.
Thanks my fellow Dragon. ;-)

The question remains... what happened between you and Christina!?

I love the song!

Dragonas said 234 days ago
well...
Christina is soprano you hear in song.
The rest I must leave to your best guesses...

A gentleman never tells, right?

Superb ..

lovely piece .. love the collage style .. bits of this, bits of that: operatic, rock, indie and south of the border.. but really working well together... not sure about the bees/wasps/hornets .. but .. ah well . you can't have everything :o) nit aside, I really enjoyed this alot.

What no download? Ahh nuts.. ;o)

Dragonas said 232 days ago
Hey APB
hehe...the bees/wasps were actually big gusts of wind.
It was the sound of a big dust storm blowing in and then blowing out.

apb said 231 days ago
Ah

.. the answer my friend, was big gusts of wind ..

wow dragonas, this is INCREDIBLE!! Eduard tipped me off to come and listen to this, thinking I'd probably like it - well I GUESS SO! What a great musical adventure. Hearing the story behind it, really helps paint the picture of the meaning of the music. Your lyrics are great, these vocals are great. Really, this is sensational!

Hey Alf
Thank you for such kind words from such a technical guru like yourself.
Yes...Christina did sing on this song, and hopefully she'll read everyone's nice comments and agree to do another one. ;-)

Roxylee said 232 days ago
a work of art
This is so creative and wonderfully done; the intro fx, instrumentation, and vocals. Just superb all around! :-)

Karmatoburn said 232 days ago
One more time please
Great tune smithin. The horn and vocal are dazzling. The overall effect is one of deep introspection. Not sure that was the intent :-) but it left me wondering of many heavy subjects. 10's on the mix..outstanding

Dragonas said 231 days ago
Yes...
I think you picked up on my intent.
Nice.

love what you have done to the image
great tune. Excellent build up, dynamic and haunting. Arranged very well, and produced perfectly. Great listen really enjoyed this tune. Sounds like you pulled out all the stops on this one. I think it has a touch of the zepp about it in places. How did you get those drum sounds? Top tune.

Dragonas said 225 days ago
Great ears you have!
Great critique,
everything you mention is spot on.
The song was built around that drum sample.
It was just one of the free loops from Beathives.com.
I liked it because it had a real slow John Bonham feel to it.
My biggest influences are probably Led Zep, Black Sabbath, and Pink Floyd.
(I like the Brits) :-)

Wow!!!!
I am impressed. This is some truly outstanding music. I wonder what you use to get the sound as up there as you do. This is loud but crystal clear. I have yet been able to achieve both at the same time. Thanks for any suggestions you might be able to share. Great tune!!

Thanks so taking the time to listen to this rather long song (for MacJams at least).
It is truly my epic.
I recorded all of the acoustic guitars in a hotel lobby at 3:30am, when everyone was asleep.
It adds a nice ambient echo doesn't it?
:-)

I'm really liking
the effect you achieve with the doubling of your vocals and the mix is great. Very haunting song.

Glad you liked.
Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment.
