Groovy melody.
Groovy cat, groovy keys... the wee pauses you put in - the rests, they're perfect. Like ole Birdman says - a gem.

Simple, Peaceful, Soothing and Serene. Just the way I love it. This is very pretty Kassia. As always you do a wonderful job making beautiful music. Thank you for sharing it with us.

excellent sound
It's nice to hear a pleasant piano improvisation on this hot day (I live in Northern CA too). Quite a heat wave we're having!

You have a good touch on the keys and an affinity for improvisation. I can relate only too well to the pauses; you want to make it right! There were just a couple of spots which might have flowed better had you kept the phrase moving forward -- but this is a minor "nit" -- it's an improvisation, after all!

I was particularly impressed with the quality of the recording; the piano sounded excellent. You make good use of the sustain pedal; not muddy, very lyrical.

I am always interested in the "how/when/where" of recordings -- what software did you use? Was this a live piano? If so, what mics and how did you place them?

You might want to include this kind of thing in your song descriptions.

Very enjoyable listening. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks
Thanks Cameron for your great comments. I agree with you - there are a few places where the pause were not so much intentional, more of a "oh what am I going to do next?!" but like you said, that's improv! I'll probably fix this up and smooth out the rough spots some day.

To answer your questions...there's really not alot more to tell than the song description...haha. I have a full-size Gem PS1600 keyboard that I use as my midi input into Garageband. And the piano sound is just the "Grand Piano on Stage" GB instrument. Nothing special.

Lazy Afternoon
What a GREAT touch you've got on that thar piano! This is extremely lovely - we're enjoying it in a hotel room somewhere in north central WA after a day of fabulous motorcycling through 100 degree heat. This is a perfect song to ease us into a relaxing evening before hitting the road again tomorrow. Great work shay - you are SO gifted!

Oh break out the Claret...
...and find a corner of spindly sunlight! Exquisitely played with lovely pauses and dynamics.

Roxylee said 234 days ago
Pretty improv!
Such feelings you can convey .. so pretty.,.:-)

an... tici...
...pation. That's what those pauses felt like, sort of like a kite, swaying lazily, then diving down, then struggling back up to its rightful place in the sky. Very pretty, elegant improv. And I agree with Cameron, that sampled piano sounded exquisite, probably a lot of that had to do with the broad range od dynamics you used while playing, made it very expressive and "alive".

of Chopin. Very peaceful and atmospheric. A fave I'm sure. Oh and beautifully played.

Doesn't sound forced. Rather calm and relaxing. You must like cats a lot. Very emotional.

Just an...
...honest and unaffected piano improv. It is very pleasant to listen to, and I am enjoying it immensely. You get a great echo-y sound from your keyboard, but it isn't muddy at all.
Peace.

Is so that someday we can speak the language effortlessly... you're ability allows you to reveal your heart flawlessly...

I love the piano... nicely done

I find that
so much commercial music is way to "in your face" and this is a welcome respite to actually feel the calm of your playing.

EEFliess said 224 days ago

I see a video w/ forests and streams...and it's so soothing, I wanna take a nap

Very sweet. Nicely played and a good piano tone as well. The chord progression you chose makes harmonic sense and the melodic motif is well established. Just be careful of phrasing, some of those pauses seem to linger too long in my mind, but don't let that discourage you, tis very well done!

MarkHolbrook said 222 days ago
Awwww...
Who is the gorgeous little kitten in the photo?

So sweet... Is this music inspired by him/her?

Beautiful piece. Really soothing. Thank you Kassia!!!

Wow....
Kassia, you had my attention from the first note on your piano. If this is just hanging out... then we must have more of that. Beautiful, beautiful music... tender skill on those keys.

thanks

notches on her piano bench
I fell in love with her at first note as well. ;)

I don't get to hear as much of her improvinoodles in the house anymore because of those pesky headphones. :(

A little sauce,
(a fine wine) and you playing the melody in your heart would make for a perfect evening. You are a wonderful pianist. Thank you.
