Description Kassia posted a fabulous Piano Solo called "Letting Go" - 41920. I heard it .. and of course I knew I had to have my way with it ..... This is a song about "unrequited love" .... "unfinished business" .... "the one that got away" .... however you want to put it. Kassia mentioned the possibility of adding instruments, etc. ... so if anyone is interested, please feel free to expand on this. I apologize for the hiss ... I just got tired of fiddling with the vocal mixing and ... I know (too much reverb !!! hahaha)
Lyrics The first time that I looked at you
And you looked at me too
I felt a warmth that I hadn’t felt
In such a long time

The first kiss
The first time that I tasted your lips
Was the sweetest time
In a long time

And then that first time
When you took me in your arms
And came to my house in the middle of the night

It might have been the first time
That was the beginning of the last time
I didn’t know it then
That we wouldn’t sing again

The first time
The last time

colab ...thnx for sharin it !

Alannah said 233 days ago
The emotional part ....
... of course started 100% with the beautiful piano piece that Kassia created ... the reverb part ... I might have had something to do with ... thanks for the listen and comment!

"the one that got away"
wow alannah ... can i fall in love now ... :-]

Alannah said 233 days ago
In love ....
... I thought you had "already" fallen in love ... heh heh ....

kassia said 239 days ago
Amazing
Alannah you have left me speechless - and truly honored. You have the most unique, beautiful, seductive voice and you use it perfectly here. I couldn't have asked for more. Thank you! I look forward to many more possible collabs with you!

Alannah said 233 days ago
Thanks Kassia ....
.. I too look forward to any future collabs .... you have a beautiful music style that I suspect I will have a hard time staying away from .....

dajama said 239 days ago
Beautiful
Great piano work, Kassia - lovely playing and a very nice, melodic piece. The vocal is absolutely beautiful on top of that, and the lyrics are thought-provoking and memorable. Great singing (the sigh at 2:40 is very effecting...) A great collab. Nicely done to both of you. Kudos. Peace.

Alannah said 233 days ago
Thanks Dajama ....
... I actually do a lot of "sighing" ... I think that just sort of came out and I thought .. OK leave it there .... most of my lyrics don't make "traditional song" style sense .. but tend to be more of a story ... no typical verse verse chorus verse verse bridge .. etc. style .... thanks for taking the time to listen and comment.

mistress of "lost love" ballads
Very nice singing Alannah, and I do sort of adore Kassia's piano piece, what a great pairing! Alannah, the secondary vox are way too far in the background, need to be brought forward a bit, but other than that, this is great.

ttfn,
Drakonis

Alannah said 233 days ago
hmmmm ....
... funny thing about those backing vox ... interesting that you found them far back in the mix ... cause to me they sounded SO overbearingly loud .. I kept turning them back .. and then back more .. and back and back and back until I could tolerate the sound of them ... HAHAHA maybe I went too far back ..... or it was the FX that I was using that made them sound so SHARP at first ....

You have a way of hearing a song
that few of us can even imagine but that feels so right when we hear you do it. This is another song that reaches way deeper than the obvious beauty of the song and the vocals. It creates a mood, a character (a pair of characters) and tells a story all in just a few bars.

On top of all that it sounds so natural and so un-contrived. It sounds like you thought of it just as you sang it.

Alannah said 233 days ago
That is ....
.. exactly what I did (and quite often do) ... I just listen to a tune once or twice and then just click the old RECORD button and see what comes out .... total improv all the way ... but I usually have some sort of idea of the direction of the vocals or what type of mood I am going for ... sometimes it works .. and sometimes it is just a crazy mess ... one never knows what will happen .... but I do enjoy tinkering around in this fashion .... thanks for the listen and comment!

well it goes to show
Alannah, this song was truely written for you. Such a marvelous song with emotion.

Alannah said 233 days ago
Thanks Vic ....
... I think I have fallen into the path of croony tunes in the last year or so .... feels so far from my music roots (beltin rock) ... but I suppose it's not a bad place to be ... I never thought I would ever record the types of stuff I have done here on Macjams which my voice isn't buried DEEP DEEP DEEP inside a cocophony of instruments ....

LunaTrick said 239 days ago
Lovely!
You too are suited for each other - great collab!

Alannah said 233 days ago
Thanks Luna ...
... interestingly I have downloaded and listened to a lot of piano tracks with the intention of singing on them ... but quite often I find the runs difficult to mess with vocally and sometimes there isn't the space for a vocal - even on a single piano track .. so I was pleasantly surprised when I came across Kassia's gem and felt the spaces to sing in ....

The First Time
Wonderful ballad, sensitively accompanied. A fantastic collaboration, simply awesome. An instant 10.0 favorite :-) :-) :-)

Alannah said 233 days ago
Always ....
.. a pleasure when you visit one of my tunes ... you are generous with your comments .... glad you enjoyed this one ...

lengold said 239 days ago
This is without
a doubt my favourite alannah track. Great piano and very emotional and beautiful vocals.
Cheers
Len

Alannah said 233 days ago
Thanks Len ....
... it's always nice to hear when someone says that something you have done turns out to be a favourite ... I have done quite the mixed bag of stuff on here .. always experimenting and playing .... this is why Macjams is great ... we can tinker around and play with all sorts of genres and styles .. and collab with each other !

Roxylee said 239 days ago
This got to me
the playing, the emotional singing, and the sigh.. the sigh was perfect for this mood. The lingering repeated words for accent.. . Just wonderful all around. :-)

Alannah said 233 days ago
Ooooh ....
... I "do" love it when someone says ... "this got to me" ... because I just LOVE music that "gets to me" ... and I am always striving to do something that gives someone else that same feeling .... (I give all the credit to Kassia's fabulous Piano of course) ....

Skean said 239 days ago
Lovely
Very nice sung as piano is played... one of your best my dear friend.

Alannah said 233 days ago
Thanks Skean ...
... I'm glad you enjoyed this ... I think you are sometimes a little like me ... in that you can enjoy both a good old ROCK song .... a mix of METAL now and again .. yet still appreciate a sappy ole LOVE SONG ... !

Great!
Very great collab, I've always loved your deep vocal and it's wonderfully placed and sounded over Shay's great music. Wonderful!

Take Care
- Yeman A. Al-Rawi

Alannah said 229 days ago
Thanks ....
... Birdman ... actually there is another Shay piece I need to listen to a bit ... cause it caught my interest ... but with me .. who knows when the collabs may hit ...or whether my tinkerings will end up in the Alannah file of lost songs ....
