Description A collab with Timothy Devine. He is on backing vocals and cool soul organ. Thanks for pouring some of your motown voice and soulful skills into this one Timothy.

The artwork is one of my paintings.
Lyrics Something I can’t take
Thor Oliversen©2008

There is a cold, cold wind
Blowing in my face
And it’s coming from a place
I have never been

It carries a smell of hate
And all that rage
It makes me turn against that wind
It’s something I can’t take

And it goes on and on
It never seems to fade
And it goes on and on
It never seems to fade
It’s something I can’t take

If I look the other way
The warm wind tells me to stay
All the hate will blow away
Just look the other way

There is a cold, cold wind
Blowing in my face
And it’s coming from a place
I have never been

John
Thanks for your supportive words:)

This one has been laying in the drawer for a while, but I got some inspiration this weekend and gave it a shot. I heard Tim do some nice stuff on the keys on one of his song and asked if he would like to sit in on this. He did and I totally dig what he came up with.

I absolutely
love this great funk - sounds like a real tight band. Great collab. Downloaded. Thanks.
Cheers

Actually... my eyes are kind of green'ish with some brown spots here and there... I'll bet Tim has them blue eyes tho...

If we got you dancin' we did something right;)

Thanks!

This...
...is some kind of groove...instruments sound great together...love that guit...great messsage.

That's a really fine painting...love to see it close up...looks like it's got some beautiful textures.

This
... is a nice comment:) Thank you!

Your latest is indeed a very fine piece of music Bob.

Thanks for mentioning the painting. I've been wandering about in styles from abstracts to more natural looking ones, but have done some in this style lately. Gives me almost the same relaxing mood as I get from making music;)

Cheers, Thor

Groovy!
Love your soul posts Thor - having Tim on organ and bgv works really well. Like the guitar bass and drums a lot - sounds like a full band.

Excellent,
Neil

drums and bass
Actually, the first take I sent Tim was with another drum pattern. But I felt a need to change it, and ended up re-doing the bass, guitars and the vocals because it altered the groove some - LOL.

I had to concentrate some to get the bass to hang on to the creative kick drum in the drum loops used here;)

Glad you could fancy it. And yes, Tim added much good spice to this one!

hello Thor
This is real fine.
Nice mix. I love what you did in the intro, very hip R&B sound.

I always love your playing. I especially like the acoustic guitar laying down the chords in the instrumental part. Your tunes are always so creative. The rhythm pics are awesome.
I like the way you take it way down... to just the two vocals... leading to the ending... and the the guitar sneaks in, then the organ n drum, classic.
Great tune with that 'thoddiism' message
Thanks so much for the invite. Anytime. You are a pleasure to work with.
I hope to be more on next time.
tim

Hi there Timothy
This was a very pleasant collab to work on Tim. As you have heard the first sparse version, I think that what you've added is brilliant. I dig your soulful voice, and what you do on the keys is swell!

Thanks for sitting in, and I hope we can do this again:)

Skean said 240 days ago

nice one guys!
great groove with just that right laid back touch. Plus, a nice warm sound.
The chorus is killer. Makes me think a bit of the early Hall & Oates sound.

Funky
This is great guys... i LOVE the wrapped intro, but this has such a great loose, live feel... great work, from two great musicians!

bonnieprincejohnny said 229 days ago
Your artwork is...
.. kinda reminiscent of Mondrian and that's fucking tops in my books - the music if you were to accentuate the bass A wee bit more would remind me of Ian Dury - but it's all you and I like it. Kisses.

Tim's version came up in my email because I have it set up that way, and in the intro he mentioned your song and this track. Well I listened to Tim's version and I wanted to hear yours too so here I am.

I've listened to both and I'll be darned if I can decide which I like better. They're both great tracks, yours a little more acoustic, Tim's a little more out there.

Maybe I'll just say this, they're both great track with some awesome lyrics and a very cool vibe.

Very good collab from both of you.

Funkalicious .....
I remarked that Tim's posted version had that "driving in the city in the evening feel to it" ... well now in this version "evening" has turned into "night" ... and things are heating up !
