John...
you crank out great music like a xerox copier man!!

I love the sort of Beatles sound to this. I am continuously amazed by your raw talent John.

I ABSOLUTELY love the zero carbon houses! I don't live in the UK but that song takes me right there!

Keep cranken out the great music my friend!!!

woofer3 said 244 days ago
Hello Marc
you know I have said this before, - although I love them now, in the beginning I really disliked the Beatles . I think it was mainly mainly because I saw them as a threat to the music I loved the most at the time which was rock'n'roll. I didn't give in until the white album and believe it or not the first Beatles album I actually bought was Abbey Road!

Anyway I'm rambling again[I'm allowed to at my age] - more importantly thank you for your kind and constructive comments, and am these days very pleased for my songs to be compared with those of the fab four.

Best wishes,

John.

MarkHolbrook said 243 days ago
Well John,
Had I known I would have compared them to something else... I too liked the Beatles on and off over the years. Glad you didn't take the comment the wrong way!

It was mainly the piano that took me there. Your work is simply amazing and probably these days there are few comparisons that would do justice!

Mark

mowguy3 said 244 days ago
You did it
the whole phono thing is perfict, with the old time piano going on captures the atmosphere of Harry. A crack me up for sure. Thanks, take care, Russ

woofer3 said 244 days ago
you should really use
Victor super tone needles to play this and they should also be changed after each play !

I'm gad you enjoyed it Russ and thanks for listening and commenting, it makes it all worthwhile,

Dee
you do say the sweetest things really, people will talk I'm sure.

Yes Cleopatra did a good job. This recording is nearly a year old now and since then she has done loads of collaberations on icompositions with a variety of different artists as you probably know.

It's about time you did some more of your poetry as well my girl!

Thank you for listening Dee, - will have a listen to your new track just as soon as I can.

John.

Fun
This is just so much fun! Great sound too - definitely has a Beatles sort of feel. And of course, yes, the piano is excellent. Just fun all around. Thanks!

woofer3 said 244 days ago
I'm glad you like it
it is meant to be fun and nothing more really.

Thank you for commenting, it's very much appreciated,

John

Harry keeps his records in a rack
I m so impressed by your keys and vcal work here
seems lately you took a bit of the 70s macca sound
or at least what the pop rock UK were sounded at
that time ..a true classic thnx for sharin !!

woofer3 said 244 days ago
Good morning Feter-
Thank you again for listening and for such kind words. I suppose if I had to pick a decade that I thought had influenced me the most then it probably it would have been the seventies. I am speaking generally of course.

Great to hear from you,

Best wished,

John.

Wonderful song
I can only agree with the others about the Beatles references. Another great song John and very well played and sung. Great title, who's the next, how about William and his Chopper.
Cheers
Len

woofer3 said 244 days ago
Len -
firstly thank you for taking the time to listen, -but I must say you shouldn't go putting ideas in my head about the royal family. I'd never even thought of them when I wrote this !! - and now you've got me contemplating a little opus about Prince Harry's chopper. God my imagination has gone into overdrive and it's all your fault.

Seriously Len that's a great idea, - if ever I do, --which I may.......I shall add, - based on an idea by Len Gold!!

Thank you Len, good to hear from you,

John.

Harry ha ha
yes i like this and your use of satire and the way you do these songs. The arrangements are fantastic you got a beatles like quality to this. Top of the class. I love that photo of harry in his uniform, say's it all, may be you could post that with this track.... Cheers geez.

woofer3 said 243 days ago
I'm afraid I don't have any photos
other than one of him drunk which I did draw the line at.
The dig is directed more at the authorities than it is at Harry, I didn't think that their excuse for not sending him to Iraq was justified.

Thank you for listening and leaving such nice comments and I'm glad you enjoyed it. There was another song called Afghanistan which had to be scrapped when Harry's circumstances changed. I was gutted as I prefered Afghanistan, which is now in a semicompleted state and waiting to be deleted on my hard drive.

It was a pleasure to do this with you. You are a good friend and a very talented artist.

thank you D

Best wishes,

Another slice of quirkiness
Wonderful lyrics and a fantastic arrangement. I loved the use of the vocals as an instrument.

Got that George Martin piano sound really well :-)

Cheers

Dick

woofer3 said 243 days ago
Dick my boy
come on in, what did you say - half man half loony - maybe so - three pianos on this one, two electrics and one real. the background vocals are all an essential part of the lyrics and are "-oody babba -oody babba -" without this the track doesn't make any sense!!

Thanks for your comments they mean a lot to me.

John.

Ok, so not the Beatles
but this is definitely a British tune. Somehow the music hall (or whatever it is) tradition finds its way into a lot of British music. The Beatles had songs like this, Queen, the Police, and probably lots of more contemporary groups that I don't know about; sort of these cabaret-type melodies, a saloon piano and fairly simple rhythms overall contribute to the atmosphere.

Great stuff. I dig.

woofer3 said 242 days ago
thank you for your comments Vic
and for taking the time to listen,

John.

Just jumping around........
trying to find something to listen to and I found this. I am so happy I did, this is new and old at the same time, and very very good. You have a new fan. I am off to listen to more.

You sure
get a cool vocal sound, plus the Beatles feel is really cool and a style you coin your own,.

Enjoy the bass of the piano, bass and drums, like how it kicks in with that style. Then with the vocal, is amazing especially with the vocal sounds!

Your doing stuff that seems like it would be competitive with the Beatle's Walrus etc.

Really cool rockin, not even sure if i've heard better cool singing style rock here at MJ with such terrific musical backround.

When I hear music like this, I think you are another droop type person. A star rocker and doesn't tell any macjammers about it :)

Just live a looooong time !

your comments
are very much appreciated Bill, they mean a great deal. My ambition in life is to live for ever, -so far so good.

Very clever stuff
shows you're not just a pretty face John

woofer3 said 235 days ago

a pretty face.......thanks for listening and for the comment.

Ode to my favorite royal
he doesn't seem as pretentious as the others, from my somewhat ignorant point of view. All your stuff is catchy and clever.

woofer3 said 235 days ago
I agree with you to a point,
but he does such stupid things sometimes, like dressing up as a Nazi in a country where this is still a bit of a sensitive issue. Then there's the drinking and getting ratted in public, surely we have enough problems with drunks over here without the third in line for the throne adding to it. Either he should do all this stuff in private or abdicate or whatever the right word is. Having said all that I don't think he's a bad feller on the whole, but if he does things like this then he's going to get criticised, and songs written about him. It's the way it is.

I'm glad you like the song and thank you for your comments, they're much appreciated.

John.

Great Solo
Good song, great lyrics and a terrific solo at the end.

I also liked the break in the middle with the Welsh Tribsmen singing in the background. Cleopatra also was a welcomed addition.
