Description This is my first collaboration on here. Ever since I heard Alannah's dark and sultry voice, I wanted to do something orchestral around it. To my delight, she posted her "whisper" a cappella vocal the other day - and I seized on it. It would have made a great trip-hop, ambient kind of song - and I'm sure someone will do something like that with it. Over a few hours, I have made it into an avant-garde operatic piece with a small orchestra. As the vocals were written for her sister, and having just lost a sister myself, I am even more honoured to work on this. I just hope that I have given her voice justice. Let me know what you think. I look forward to more collaborations on MacJams.
Lyrics Come dry your tears
Smile again love
I’m only a whisper away
Near the dusk of the evening
Just out of sight through the day
Watching you waking and sleeping
Hearing each prayer that you pray
Sending my love to surround you
I’m only a whisper away

Come dry your tears
Smile again love
Remember the good times we’ve known
Cherish the joy we discovered love
That was planted and grown

Your road may seem lonely ahead love
And distant horizons look grey
You wont be walking alone love
I’m only a whisper away

So laugh and rejoice
When you think of me
Look for a hummingbird during the day
It will likely be me right beside you
I’m only a whisper away

Whisper
Nice orchestral around Alannah's acca... Very delightful.. Bravo.
I have done one too but that is more cinematic feel to it.
D-loaded I really like the relaxing feel I get from it.
Thx FS.

Thanks
I have listened to yours too - and really liked what you did also. There is so much possibility with Alannah's voice - what a treat!

Hi Daniel.....
I think that the work you have put into this pice is very well done. The backing definitely fits the words and the mood.

All in all I think that this is a success. A very professional success.

Take care.

Paul

Thanks Paul
Perhaps some of your stuff has inspired me of late - I wanted to weave a tapestry around the voice - but not too predictable!

tokai said 247 days ago
The voice and your track
go together sweetly. Great atmosphere and chilled. Cheers

Only A Whisper Away
this is SO COOL, it's almost untouchable! Such creativity in the construction of this song, and ALLANAH, I LOVE YOUR VOICE!! Great job you two!

LunaTrick said 246 days ago
Thanks Karen
I'm not sure if Alannah has heard this yet - but your appreciation of it is very satisfying.

earth-ereal
there's something both primal and earthy about this, and rather wispy and ethereal... must be the mix between brass and harp. The dissonance really keeps things off-kilter, which in this case re-enforces a sense of loss and sorrow. Please allow me to offer my condolences to both of you on your losses. These are important people in our lives. What a great way to celebrate what they have meant to you. Nice collab work!

Interesting you should say...
I was going to add more instruments but refrained from doing so. Any more and the "wispy" quality (as you aptly put it) would be lost. I also wanted the voice to remain focal - and the chosen instruments as garnishments! Thanks for your thoughts!

Excellent
I have to echo dirigent's comment about the breathing space in here - your use of instrumentation and the arrangement is a wonderful complement to Alannah's vocal without smothering it. Very creative use of instruments, and a fantastic collab. Very impressive. Kudos. Peace.

Thanks Dajama
I'm excited to receive your comment - and look forward to checking out your stuff too.

I miss
great music like this,, because there are not of enough hours in the day.

LunaTrick said 244 days ago
Cheers!
I thank you for listening - and will be acquainting myself with your music also.

Alannah said 244 days ago
I finally got to hear it ....
.... this has a "haunting" quality to it .... I'm sorry to hear about your sister .... it's been three years for me .. and it's still tough ... always will be. This tune is almost emoting visions of ghosts floating around the room ... restless ..... while that little music box plays in the background .... great track !!!!

LunaTrick said 244 days ago
Your voice makes it.
I really appreciated the opportunity to do this. It may sound corny - but as I was working around your vocal, I never got tired of hearing it. Be sure to check out Skean's really cool version too.

Wow
I can't comment right now. I can't find the words. I'm truly that blown away.

LunaTrick said 241 days ago
Thanks...
That is what I felt when I heard the A Capella... and it was a pleasure to work with it!

This is a great first collab!
Collabs are awesome! And this song is already there.

This was purely a gutteral response on my part!

"Spoke" last evening.
Today, I'm listening to your work. A major success in fitting the voice to the music. My sympathies on your losses. Inspired art raises us up to the level of the angels. I read something like that somewhere. So, you two have allowed us to walk among the clouds. Thank you.
