Description My entry in the CBGB challenge! Presenting my punk /alter ego/ outfit Shit Happens! Recorded this half a year ago or so, inspired by reading about the DIY mentality in the punk movement and the simpilcity of the music. Simple, but groovy. I wanted to try that! And I added a few oddballs: french lyrics, mandolin SOLO(you don't see that to often). two bass guitars(fuzz and clean). And it all clocks in under to minutes, all in good punk tradition.

The lyrics are another story. YES this is punk in french, and NO I'm not a native speaker. I've only had french at a low highschool level, and I got an E on the french exam! But me and a friend of mine had so much fun in french class! Partly because of a quite exentric teacher, some funny french nerds and the general anarchy of the lessons. So this is kind of our ode to the french language. The chorus is "Je mal a ma fez gauche", which is supposed to mean "I have a sharp pain in my left ass cheek". This comes from one time when my friend was testing my cousin's(who is fluid in french) french abilities. "Ok, since you're so damn good at french, how do I say: I've got a sharp pain in my left ass cheek?" "Je mal a ma fez gauche." A song was born.....

The rest of the lyrics are just plain BS...
Lyrics Je parle frencais bien
Non anglais, non, rien
Je parle trés trés bon
Et tu est O.K!

Je mal a ma fez gauche!

im falling in love with a french girl and sang in french with a "very horrible" american accent lol. but it was supposedly cute.. so yay for those of us who only took a few years of french. nice heavy track the mandolin adds a nice creativity.

cool
and the mando solo is really twisted! in a good way of course

The Chiefs said 248 days ago
Thanks!
You know, I just fiddled around with the mandolin while I was mixing the track, and thought; There is something missing here. Mandolin of couse. Nailed the solo on the second take, and after relistening to it I had a grin that stayed there for the rest of the day. The best thing is that I've never nailed it perfectly ever since!

Thanks again...

TOO COOL!
I love everything about this - if I was in some obscure second-hand record store and I heard this playing, I'd have to have it - period. I'd sell my car and walk home. Bloody awesome; bent, screwy and ten degrees beyond unexplained... thanks for the rocket ride!

I just have to say it again
Too frikkin' cool.

The Chiefs said 248 days ago
Thanks!
Glad you liked it. And that obscure sound was kind what I was aiming for, so I'm glad you felt the spirit.

Thanks again..

Yeah
Awesome track man! It's great how you can make a punk song from anything. And now I can say I know some French - so you have taught us today as well.

Great song!

French
in my school was a complete waste of time - so I didn't understand a word - but I rather like songs in foreign languages. And punk with a mandolin in French - what a great combination.

A Song Is Born
The high energy drums (or drum machine) and guitars took my breath away. The mando-solo is perfectly out of place. Your singing is excellent and I appreciate your humor. Great story about the song.

This is really the kind of thing that I want to hear more of.

To let you in on a secret. The drums are apple loops from garage band. But you know, the drummers in punkbands were not always the most talented, and brute force often made up for the lack of techique!

But thanks for kind comment! Glad you liked

Love..
the tempo on this.

I think you did a great job with the guitars.

This could of stood on it's own without the mandolin.

I like it !

Grunge mandolin?!
I love it. It would have been a decent song without it, but with it it's something else entirely. Nifty.
