Echo is pleased to present Second Slide for your pleasure. This is the A side of our colored vinyl 7”. We’ll let you know when there’s a B side so’s if you buy it you’ll get your money’s worth. Till then we’re just hoping for a slot at CBGB’s so we can get some girls back here in Craigdale.
Echo consists of Echoroom on vocals - Strummy Bud on rhythm guitar – Twang Bud on lead guitar – Thud Bud on bass – and D. OD on drums. Lyrics by Echoroom - production by Fiddle Bud.

- Money Bud (manager)

WARNING - Lower level master like the old days - CRANK YOUR SYSTEM
Lyrics Time isn't friendly
It can be your enemy
You cant hurt it
It wont take your bribery.
I woke up one time and
The clocks were laughing at me.

Let the second slide
The Second slide.

i woke up at 30
Must have been about yesterday
My teeth were pearly
My little heart was so afraid

Let the second slide
The Second slide.

One the second day I
Left my fingers talking
Potential wasted
Potential wasted

Time isnt working
Not something you can tame
When you were a baby
You didn't even have a name.

Seven days to tell your story
Your little world is hunky dory ....

Nice one Steve and Bud
I really enjoyed this

bud said 249 days ago
Thanks Bryn
it was fantastic working with Steve - he raises everything he touches to whole other level.

Peter Bauckham said 250 days ago
Stunning
collaboration from you two - The jangly guitars are great - like the Bowie reference in the lyrics Steve! Still think you sound more Bauhaus...

Peter

echoroom said 250 days ago
The Dame
Yeah, I thought the Hunky Dory reference was funny. I did my best Byrne/ McCulloch on this - didnt think it was too Murphy-ish!

When bud sent this to me, i freakin' was thrilled to bits - its just my sorta music - the guitar work is sublime - a real pleasure to finally work with the bud-meister!

Minute Hands
You guys really tore it on on this gigantic surprize. Steve, the lyrics are fantastic. You know, you could be a singer one of these days, if time doesn't run out for you...

Bud, you always rock, so what's new with you? I do love the droning twangy choppy strummy guitars and that one really odd change where the drums pound and Steve sings Second slide - around 1:22. Amazing structure.

Your little world is hunky dory. Nice.

bud said 249 days ago
Hey Bob -
Nice of you to comment - glad you like the song. Gotta say - your artwork and starting the flyer thread was a great boost to this project. How cool has this been?

Skean said 250 days ago
Okay then
You guys really ROCKS... Sure is a hit.. I buy the EP/LP..lol

Jammin'!!
I love the chours, it has an INXS feel to it.

I like the guitar tone. Is that a tele?

Slide on you guys!

Great collab!

C.

bud said 249 days ago
No tele
that's my cheapo Danelectro through a Line 6 Gearbox. I love that guitar - nothing sounds like it and it can sound like anything. I hear the INXS too - Steve really brought this tune home.

tokai said 250 days ago
Great
well done, cool production.

did not disappoint. Bowie rocks with (insert your favorite NY late 70's - early 80's band here)

Really dug this.

bud said 249 days ago
Thanks Dave
your tune is killer too. Fun weekend at CB's - no?

Good driving beat and the vocals the spot on. NicE!

Makes me think of early Talking Heads.

bud said 249 days ago
Mr. Smoke
it's so nice of you to drop by - wish we were really hanging at CB's together right now.

Rebsie said 250 days ago
Yay
Oooh, I used to love coloured vinyl singles!

Fab song ... lovely jangly guitars and a fine early 80s ambience.

Wonderful vocals as always Steve. You're totally in your element with this stuff.

Very enjoyable all round.

bud said 249 days ago
mp3's really can't replace a nice sparkly clear red 7"
oh well - if we were still cutting wax we wouldn't be meeting here then would we? This was such a blast to do with Steve - I'm really grateful he found the time.

Youra said 250 days ago
I'll buy it !
Whatever can be the B side. This is the first CBGB demo entry I'm listening to, and I was expecting nothing less than a masterpiece from you guys. Well, you didn't disappoint.
Downloaded !

bud said 249 days ago
Download all the CBGB entries
I did - and it makes a great mix tape - really pretty coherent and a load of fun.

Excellent tune guys! everything sounds great. Fast and moving with a slight hint of the punk-abilly twang in the guitars. the chorus is awesome!

a real show opener if there ever was one.

bud said 249 days ago
Props from the king of twang
my night is complete. Thanks Vic - or should I say Mr. Pink?

Ibstrat said 250 days ago
This is
a killer song. That rhythm guitar is really well played and recorded and of course the vocals are great.

bud said 249 days ago
I'll share a secret
I never played the guitar straight through - I gave it my best and then the cutting and pasting started. God bless digital for making up for mediocre chops. You on the other hand can really play.

lengold said 250 days ago
What a surprise!
Really fantastic song with (of course) brilliant lyrics/vocals and the musicianship and production are top notch. Very enjoyable.
Cheers
Len

bud said 249 days ago
Surprised?
A good song featuring echoroom? It's a given. Thanks Len- always nice hearing from you.

Fantatstic!
Instant fan of this song as soon as I heard those guitars and vocals,
Steve & Bud, great clab!

Mortality songs are a fav!

Ipod transfer coming up

bud said 249 days ago
It's life and death evry time we pick up the guitar
isn't it? I guess that's a bit dramatic. Glad you dug our song.

paul f. page said 250 days ago
It's hard to believe...
...that this isn't live. I am amazed by your collective talents and how you bring them all together with such engaging music that's filled with amazing energy and spontaneity. My only criticism: this was too short. I could easily stand another minute or so.
Peace.
Paul

bud said 249 days ago
Thanks Paul
but any longer and you'd see the smoke and mirrors.

Nick_Flash said 250 days ago
Yeah
Great song guys. Steve your vocals sound great on this. Guitars really stand out too. Looking forward to the B side.

bud said 249 days ago
I'm looking forward to the B side too
if I can get Steve to do another track. Guess I'll have to go out and get us a contract = lol. Thanks Nick.

Echo
Sounds a lot like "echo and the bunnymen" including the vocal delivery. Great one guys.

echoroom said 249 days ago
Buck..
... the vocals ARE echo and the bunnymen!

guitapick said 249 days ago
Do you remember...
...how absolutely AWESOME the sound system was at CBs? And the soundman was always topnotch, it seemed. Amazing...

Cool slice of history, guys....nicely crafted.

bud said 249 days ago
Yes I do
it was the best place to play. They really took it seriously and everyone got treated well. Nice hearing from you Bob.

Great track!

bud said 249 days ago
Thanks mr. Spike
you always rock. Now about that infection...

Joe Brady said 249 days ago
Great performance!
Shades of one of my favorite Bowie styles. Familiar feeling in the lyrics. Love the mix. Great collab!

Cheers,
Joe

bud said 249 days ago
Hey Joe
Steve's lyrics are the best. Thanks for taking time to listen and comment.

Nice one!
Really enjoyed this guys!

bud said 249 days ago
You're welcome Mikey
glad you did.

racerat said 249 days ago
I get
a Television vibe from this. LOVE it. Drivin' music. Open 'er up on the highway. The big reverb is perfect, get that muddy-middly hollow clang of Brownies room (Bud you know where I'm talking about). The slap-back delay on the vox are is killer. The jangly Bud licks are dead-on. I would have come to see you...great collab gentlemen!

bud said 249 days ago
I was really hoping to hear a CB's track
from you Philip - there's still time. Thanks for the close listening and kind comments - I know that sound you're talking about but wasn't thinking of it till now. You know how cool it is to work with Steve - he's so generous with the vocal tracks. I had a great time mixing his voice.

echoroom said 248 days ago
Bliss
Now I've worked with two guitar heroes who mix their own work so i dont have to... bliss!

gregd said 249 days ago
b-side, b-side, b-side . . .
Bud, you gotta seek some help for your shattered personality. I'm worried about you. Don't stop beating up your guitar. It's helping, I think.

Steve, keep singing. If I wore underwear I'd throw them on stage---wait, I mean, you rock dude.

I need to go to bed and stop listening to punk rock, it seems.

What a bouncin' ride! You and Steve make a killer duo... would love to have this in my vinyl collection!

michael2 said 247 days ago
cool tune
it's almost like jangle goth. this is great, the vocal effects are giving it that perfect period feel and that chorus is killing me. great guitar too, almost echo and the bunnymen like (love that scrappy fender sound).

The overall sound is incredible. The Bud/Steveo combo is very coolo.

I did the guitar sounds. I have a line 6 i have not been using much. You got me digging it out bud.

I realy dig the lyric and vocal performance. I've come acustome to great stuff from both and this collab just exploits both greatness' squared.
