Lyrics Walking Blues

I got a hole in my heart
So I got holes in my shoes
From the walkin’
And I got nothin’ to say
There ain’t nothin’ in my brain,
But I’m talkin’
So I’ll leave it to your speculation
As to what I’m sayin’

I got nothin’ in my pockets
I got nothin’ here to lose
So I’ll pick my fate
And I got thousands
From which to choose
But they all lead straight to the backdoor
Of the house of blues

(instrumental)

Well, I found a lucky penny,
Then I turned around and lost my lucky dime
Those blues are gonna getcha
They’ll getcha, getcha, getcha
Everytime
They’ll get you when you tell the gospel truth
And they’ll getcha when you’re lyin’

Well, you can cross your eyes and play dumb
when you get the news
And you can try to deny that this sorrowful world
Got the best of you
But there ain’t no reason to avoid it, coz looky here
This is what’s goin’ on
In the house of blues

davisamerica2 said 251 days ago
Hey Jack,
As soon as I heard Feter's song, I thought "this has to have some bluesy ivories in it, and just as I started to e-mail you about it, you sent me what you already did. It was cool! Temperature dropped to near freezing! Let's do another one!

lengold said 251 days ago
This is...
a truly great blues track, the lyrics and vocals really stand out for a special mention.
Everyone's playing is also superbly done. Great live feel. Very enjoyable.
Cheers
Len

davisamerica2 said 251 days ago

The live sound was an accidental quality. I was happy with this effect, and I think the other guys were as well. Glad you liked it too. Terry

Moviz said 251 days ago
This version
really hits the nail on the head for me, great backing and Terry's vocals are spot on. You've got a great vocal style Terry I must say, excellent collabregards M

davisamerica2 said 251 days ago
Thanks for tuning in Maurice
It is very rewarding getting to work with so many talented people here at Macjams. It's like walking into a kitchen with a wall covered in spice racks. The possibilities are endless. You just start cookin'!

apb said 251 days ago
Really great vibe ..

.. loved the kick it has at 1:04 .. love the keys and horns work in particular- gives this a slight soulful twist, complementing the nice traditional bluesy guitar riffs .. and fine delivery on the vocals .. dug the harp style lead bits too. Grand job fellas... loads of fun and authentic bluesy lyrics. I agree, I love to hear this in a bar... and the mix is very good and retains that live-ish vibe, which I like.

davisamerica2 said 251 days ago
Thanks Alan
Jack zeroed in on the heart of this song with those keys & horns. I was happy with how it evolved That's Feter's guitar. Ain't it cool! And yeah, I think I'll take it to a bar and try it out. I know it's good for a few free drinks. Terry

bud said 251 days ago
Alrighty then - the gang's all here
Nice collab boys - cool and in the pocket - killer keys and horns behind Feter's solid groove - and just the right kick on the skins to move that soulful vocal down the track. Indeed.

davisamerica2 said 251 days ago
Hey Bud,
Hearing such nice comments, and seeing your picture, I want to scratch you behind the ears! This was a solid groove Feter provided! He made ity easy for us all. Thanks for the comments. Terry

Hi Dee
I'm always looking for your comment. Never sure about anything I do, so I look for that person with a warm and forgiving heart. I know you had an ear on this. Would have loved to have heard that harp! Thanks for the comments. Terry

Well all righty now
This is some pretty good blues going on between you guys. Love the way you mixed it up with Feter's track and worked around it, blended in with it, and made it all come together.

Great job Davis, and you too Feter.

Ed

davisamerica2 said 248 days ago
Thanks Ed
Yeah, Feter made it easy for us. This was a real comfortable and natural tune. His guitar solo was a nice finale. Loved the bass and keys added. Lots of talent swooped down on this and brought it about. Thanks from all of us. Terry

Walking
Thanks, bro (did I get these replies mixed up?)

davisamerica2 said 242 days ago
Glad you liked it Lena,
Yeah, you know Feter. Davisamerica is Jack (not Dadai). Davisamerica2 is me, Terry. We two are a freak of nature. We are identical twins, yet we have different parents. (I don't know how they swung that. You'll have to talk to them). Patrick is our cousin. Give him 5 bucks, and he'll admit to this. Hope this clears things up. Thanks again for listening. We'll be seeking your ear in the future. Terry.

davisamerica2 said 242 days ago
I goofed
See below. I sent my letter to you to Jack by mistake. Don't take it personal. I work for the Post Office. I do this all the time.

This is just an awesome song start to finish! Catchy, fun lyrics, super singin', sweet ivory tinkerin', awesome pickin and grinnin...man o man, what more could we want? What a great job gentlemen! Thanks for sharing this with us.

davisamerica2 said 234 days ago
Thanks Gail. You're a sweetheart!
Yeah, this was a very fun song to do. Feter is rich with inspiration, as you have seen. He just draws the colabs in by the droves. Sorry to be just getting around to replying. On the day of your comment I was feeding my face with my birthday cake. I'm a pig. An old, old pig. Jack and Pat threw in some beautiful stuff here. As for the singing and lyrics; my daughter just got her masters in Drama and Theater, and I like to say I get this from her. Thanks for listening. Glad you enjoyed it, Terry. (Don't you love Feter's stuff!)

Jarvoid said 234 days ago

Jarvo

davisamerica2 said 234 days ago
Thanks Jarvo
There are lots of blues greats I love to mimic. Love it when I get close to sounding authentic. I did feel a despondency during this though, like my dog, my most trusted friend, just bit me. Glad you liked it. Terry
