wow I'm speechless. This is absolutely gorgeous. Perfect vocals - your voice is amazing. The lyrics are so heartbreakingly beautiful. I love the harmonies, and of course your piano playing is as full of emotion as your singing. Gail, you are so very talented - thank you for sharing this with us. |

Lovely piece As I said in the chat. Some solo strings would flesh it out nicely - perhaps add some tension in the breaks. Wonderful singing! |

You tell... ...such a sad story in such a tender and beautiful way. Gail, your vocals here are wonderful: restrained, nothing fancy, just clear as a bell and with a quality that is just so pleasant to listen to. The piano backs this all up beautifully, though I, too, hear more of a string bed behind this to give it a bit more breadth and warmth. But even so, it is just quite wonderful as it is. (I hope you won't mind one small suggestion. The vocal lead seems a bit loud in the mix. Maybe it is on my end only. Don't know. Maybe just take it down a tad.) I am thankful for having heard this beautiful number. Peace. Paul |

right then gail i was blown away when you honored me with a sneek peek ... and this final is stunning in so many ways. i understand the sense of dread in baring one's inner thoughts ... but tis the cost of wonderful music ... and this is a "gem". from someone who writes such "fluff" lyrics at time i am humbled by these meaningful and timely lyrics you have penned .... amazing stuff .... and i remain... your biggest fan thanks for letting the rest of us share in this beauty. jack |

gail this is beautiful. just perfect as is. the teenage years are hard, it feels like you're standing on the edge of a cliff; they have no idea of all the options that are there for them. i hope that whoever you wrote this for will get past the rough times. it's good they have you. |

beautiful lyrics Your lyric writing in this song is your best so far. You tell the story with out any unneeded words. Simple and beautiful. |

Gail This is superb and though it's a song of sadness it's very beautiful and beautifully sung. I love those harmonies.... but the simplicity of singing alone with the piano is what makes it for me. Your voice is really lovely, cheers M |

Excellent Gail so well played... and so well sung... you show a great emotional range... the notes chosen in the duet are perfect... I also love the echoing vocal lines... I often build my vox around that sort of thing... very very nicely done |

I didn't notice you standing there and I the lessor for it. This is a song for the ages my friend. It talks to a subject that is often swept under the rug like so much dust, but the needs to be brought into the light and minds of everyone. So many young people do not understand that they are not alone, because too many adults are not paying attention to the little signs they give us every day about how they are feeling. This is a very beautiful and amazing song Gail. Your vocal is inspiring as is you piano playing. Thank you for this beautiful Song Gail. Kudos and Bravo to you for sharing it with the world. Be well my dear friend. Ed |

God bless you Gail! I can't express what this song did to my heart! Maybe I'll sort it out and tell you later. But as for now, I can only say that what a joy it is to hear you singing out what your fingers have been expressing. I'm keeping this one. Please don't stop! Terry |

Tender and Touching The more I hear you sing, Gail, the more I am reminded of Roberta Flack, who paints aural portraits with her vocal stylings. The topic here is heavy, to say the least, but you treat it with wonderful sincerity and taste. Now, be happy... and write happy. ;) --- Joe |

First: I won't even say "GREAT" or anything like that. It is what it is...as fundamental as the ground on which we stand. Second: I've never been able to get "up" by listening to happy tunes when I'm sad. I've always had to either listen to/play/or write a song that is what I'm feeling. The more we push the bad away, the longer it stays with us...it's why time flies when your having fun and crawls when... Have to allow life to be what it is and let it flow through us before we can truly move on...I can see you've done this here...thanks, Gail. And I'm sorry for your pain. |

Wow, Gail... You never cease to amaze me. I'm so glad you posted this one. I want every teenager and his/her parents of to listen to this and take it to heart. There is an epidemic of cutting, hopelessness and suicide going on and songs like this make me realize how we need to listen to and hug our teens, no matter how much they test us. Your piano skill, song writing ability, and vocals are just wonderful. |

Songs of good heart... ...get my vote... This is elegant and lovely. Your vocal is unaffected, sweet and moving. You manage to let the song be moving all on its own, without schmaltz or drama. You also have a nice feeling for song form, and so the structure of the song itself is nicely rounded. And the piano playing is just right. Ed |

wow holy crap this is powerful! wonderful song gail. great singing too. I know what you mean about writing 'happy songs'. They don't come easy for me either. |

well done!!! this is very touching. its hard to choose which i like best your piano playing or your voice, they are both really stellar. the recording was nicely done and the background vocals are nice. its really a great song thats really moving. you have to have some really nice music to tackle that kind of subject matter and you pulled it off nicely with your music. you and your piano are really in sync. |

poetic Thoughfully, as well as emotionally, sung. Love the harmonies. You have a concise way of writing that cuts to the core of the matter, like "she thought everyone else had somewhere better to go," which leads to "and then one day/she threw her life away." Poetic, yet very direct and emtionally succinct. |

blimey.. i was so grateful for the comment you left on my page so i thought it was only polite if i came and had a listen to your pieces, and, well...wow. I really wasn't prepared for something quite so emotional - such a compelling piece. I really loved everything about this, especially the simplicity (the vocals and piano just work so well together). I've always been a sucker for powerful, emotional songwriting, and you really hit the spot. thank you! |

Very Good Song Your voice reminds me of Phoebe Snow especially when you harmonize with yourself. Good lyrics and changes in the melody to keep it interesting. I'm also glad you only played piano and didn't add any other instruments to the arrangement. It made the vocals and story stand out more. Very well done. |

I like gloom and doom The gloomier the doomier! Throw in some mega-goth and I'm one happy little doggy. As for the song - OUTSTANDING! |

This song will continue to floor me everytime I listen to it. So much to listen to, so much emotion. Again your vocals just kill me. As good this time as it was back in April! |

beyond belief... The vocals alone are amazing! The piano... well what more can be said... I'm floored!
Gorgeous Gail... Gorgeous!
