Description Simple Guitar and Vocal arr.Boomchicka style, not sure where to go ...leave as is ,cleaned up natch, or maybe embellish with electric gtr bass and drums?.....I just don't know!!Voice is a bit rough!!
Lyrics
Friday afternoon waiting on five o'clock weekends nearly here

I'm going down to a honky tonk, good music and some beer

my old motorcycles ready to ride

to that dirty boozy music down the old turnpike.

but time's hanging heavy on the work clock face

that second hand's movin like a fat man in a race

break

When I'm outta here It'll be just great riding that old motorbike

Wind in my hair eyes on the road singing out loud feeling fine

don't do nothin stupid don't get stopped

get to that honky tonk ready to rock

guitars'll be screaming the crowd'll roar

tinkle on the ivories, they'll yell for more

break/

Music,trucks motorbikes,beer,whiskey,steak and fries,

For a whole week they had to stop. Now its the weekend and we're gonna rock.

Its your time now, time so sweet,

give it to the rhythmn let it
drive your feet

Don't think of monday and 7A.M

thank the lord its Friday and you're rockin again.

Fridays
are so good ya know? O.K. You ask. Good honky tonk tune, and you had some pretty good guitar licks in there. Two things I would recomend. Bring up your singing a little, I am not a singer but it was hard to hear you in places. Second try putting down the rythem then mixing those chops in. Good time tune.
Thanks Russ

okey dokey
you are absolutely spot on, and it's not the first time I have done this.....it just shows why you shouldn't a)mix entirely thru' h/phones and b)keep persevering with singing when your voice (such as it is ) is getting tired and c)make sure you post the best take......Jarvo

I really
like this Chris - great song/lyrics and beautifully played. Like your vocals... a lot. But where do you find a Honky Tonk and a turnpike in York? (Whatever they are?)
Cheers
Len

Fun stuff
This has a fun quality to it and an interesting sound. At the same time, I didn't find that the 2nd and 3rd stanzas added anything new to the song that wasn't already present in the first verse. From the perspective of effective songwriting, I feel that each verse needs to be adding something of import and "advancing" the story.

I also felt there were some cliches, one or two of which were dated and/or "over the top" ("dirty boozy music", "old motorcycle's ready to ride", etc.).

The "hook" to this song, perhaps, is the vibe itself? That is, lyrically, I don't know that there is a true "hook" that would grab the listener, but maybe the overall vibe is sufficient to do so?

All in all, this is a fun song with a cool feel to it. Nicely done!

Thanks for the input
I appreciate all the comments that you've made during my short time on Macjams, even if sometimes it feels like you've just been mauled by a friendly grizzly bear!! :-)
No,seriously, I mean good constructive and informational feedback is absolutely what I crave and why I am here.In the little time that I have been on here I have learned more and been offered more advice than in 9 months on "My Soundclick" which has a wholly different approach from its members.Nuff said on that ...yes some of the lyrics are a little contrived.. and I actually cringed myself at "my old motorcycle" etc lol but okay I'll tinker some more ...glad you enjoyed the basic idea tho', two fingers to the weekday, weekend here I come........... right then chris
vocal has an early kristopherson feel .. very cool .. only small nit .. up the vocal levels a wee bit ... is always easy to second guess yourself when the horse is outta the barn but honestly i love the raw chickaboom live groove here alot

Nice song Chris
Needs a little polishing, but there's no denying your ready for the weekend. lol

Bring up the vox a little and you might try using a little compression on the vox to smooth the levels out some. And mowguy3 has it right about putting down the rhythm and then coming back to play those chops and fills.

Nice tune, look forward to the new mix when you get-r-dun.

I
I just do not know what to do with this song, this is a simple gtr and voice arrangement and when played thru h'phones actually works...but then that's the danger of mixing with'phones isn't it ? I will try and do another mix and re-record this .Thanx for your honest input ,it is a relief to get a kick up la derriere sometimeslol.
