Description For the Feter blues challenge

This is actually a rather wonderful poem called "A Man's Requirements" by Elizabeth Barrat Browning and is nearly 200 years old. Makes you think doesn't it?

I didn't have a lot of time so I left most of the guitar to Feter and many thanks to him for this challenge.

I had an idea to take a totally unrelated set of words and fit them in a 12 bar meter.

OK, I've missed some lyrics out but you get the idea

Here are the original words

I
Love me Sweet, with all thou art,
Feeling, thinking, seeing;
Love me in the lightest part,
Love me in full being.

II
Love me with thine open youth
In its frank surrender;
With the vowing of thy mouth,
With its silence tender.

III
Love me with thine azure eyes,
Made for earnest granting;
Taking colour from the skies,
Can Heaven’s truth be wanting?

IV
Love me with their lids, that fall
Snow-like at first meeting;
Love me with thine heart, that all
Neighbours then see beating.

V
Love me with thine hand stretched out
Freely—open-minded:
Love me with thy loitering foot,—
Hearing one behind it.

VI
Love me with thy voice, that turns
Sudden faint above me;
Love me with thy blush that burns
When I murmur Love me!

VII
Love me with thy thinking soul,
Break it to love-sighing;
Love me with thy thoughts roll
On through living—dying.

VIII
Love me when in thy gorgeous airs,
When the world has crowned thee;
Love me, kneeling at thy prayers,
With the angels round thee.

IX
Love me pure, as musers do,
Up the woodlands shady:
Love me gaily, fast and true
As a winsome lady.

This is my first Feter's House of Blues
listen and you've set a really high bar for the rest of us with this amazing performance. Great match to the music and a really cool concept too. Oh - by the way - your voice is fantastic on this. I'm seeing Robert Plant and Alison Krause for my birthday in June - made me think of it.

DWL said 207 days ago
Robert Plant?
The CD is wonderful. I hope you enjoy the gig and thanks for the kind words about my squawking.

great vocals Dick!
very mississippi delta blues with a 200 year span. and nice playing Feter.

DWL said 207 days ago
Delta?
That'll be the Thames basin delta then.

I really appreciate the comments Vic and even I had 200 years I still wouldn't come up with those words.

Respect is due to Mrs Browning (I expect I'll get sued at some point......)

Cheers

Dick

...I listen to a new tune of yours, I learn something new. I agree with Maurice: this paints a nice picture. ... And, yes, the Browning poem is quite amazing esp. in how contemporary it is.
Peace.

E.B. Browning...
...was a big influence on Hendrix, regarding his feedback technique...

Fabulous
What an incredible poem. That Mrs Browning certainly had a way with words and a deep soul.

You know blues is really not my cup of tea so the fact that you've got me listening to this over and over says a lot. Maybe it's the accent. :)

It reminds me a bit of the very early Jethro Tull stuff but I've never really heard anything quite like it. Your voice is wonderful and I'm constantly amazed by the range of things you can do with it. You're in your element here, totally going for it but still having so much control and poise. I wish I could do that.

You don't realise how talented you are, mister.

But that's OK ... just keep doing what you do and you won't go wrong.
