Keywords pretty self indulgent (1)look out for the ROCK ATTACK at the end of the song (1)another love song (1)
Description this is basically an experiment, i was working on making beats and then started trying out plugins that i haven't used in awhile (trying to edit stuff of the puter), so this is got the whole shebang going: synths, gtrs, loops, etc... i did the music and then decided i should add vox so they were forced into the arrangement at the last minute. it's called prepared piano as the first think i recorded was a piano through camelspace.

can't decide if i should remix this or not. was thinking about putting reverse reverb on the "chorus-ey" parts, and maybe messing with the EQ. any thoughts?

thank you
very kind of you to say. this was a fun experiment for me, and i'm really happy you liked.

Vic Holman said 216 days ago
right off the bat
i was thinking this is a lost radiohead song finally coming to surface.

this is so friggin killer!. If you want a mix in Logic for the fun of it let me know.

michael2 said 216 days ago
hey vic
glad you like. i would do a logic re-mix, but i bounced a lot of the tracks together for an experiment and threw the original away to force me into something. like all of the guitars are on 1 track now, and the same deal with the vox and drums. but if you want to have a go at it, i'll upload it for you.

Vic Holman said 216 days ago
yup
it's do-able.

Ah My M2 Fix ......
.... feeling better now .... I always like what you do with your vocal tracks .... by the by ... what is "reverse reverb" it sounds interesting) ....

michael2 said 216 days ago
thanks
glad you like. reverse reverb is a neat effect, you take a vocal, export it from GB and then reverse it in audacity, now add reverb, and then reverse it again. the vocals are normal, but the reverb is backwards and comes in slightly before the vocal. here's an example:

Spooky, yet melodic.
You may have already seen this in a reply to your thread regarding upload #100, but now it's here for posterity!

Zowie - i wouldnt touch a hair on this babys head - if i wrote something like this i'd think i woz the bees knees, but it turns out... you are. Really fantastic track Michael... great build to the climax.

One of your best. I agree it's very radiohead. Love the guitars, vocals really good. Polished and well produced. Thanks for sharing. It's on my ipod.

Thought...
Another good fruit of your musical experiments Michael !
This song is perfect and completed such as you execute it in this original version, including on the vocal plan. Work of pro, to my opinion change nothing, except maybe if you want to make a re-mix...
Once again nice track, I take this one...

Hi Michael....
This, to me, is an excellent track all round.

Solid is the word that comes to mind.

Another gem for your musical jewellery collection.

Take care.

good one
really cool track. love the dense yet open soundscape of this one. really like those bg vox too. and you know i love it when you rock out.
definitely try the chorus with the reverse reverb. i think it would really complete this one. another thing I think would be supercool is instead of fading out, drop everything but your voice on a final 'you make me come alive' and end it that way. This song deserves more than just a fade out imo! BUT all these are just my thoughts cuz you asked for em. It's pretty darn good as is!

lavalamp said 216 days ago
Great song
I really love the mellow vibe on this song. I could see ledebutant singing on this as well.

Especially loved the rockin' part. U2-ish.

Congrats on 100!

WOWOW
WOW! This is outstanding... people have mentioned Radio head and U2, and I hear qualities of both here, but it's also very original, so it mostly sounds like you! Reverse reverb on the chorus-ey parts actually sounds like a pretty cool idea to me... worth a try, anyway. The "ROCK ATTACK" at the end of the song was definitely cool; I was feeling (hoping) that that intensity would continue for a longer time - the ending felt a bit earlier than expected for me. But the main thing is that this is a really outstanding, excellent track!

MarkHolbrook said 216 days ago
Perfect
No doubt this will stand on it's own but if Vic gets a hold of it he will add that Vic dimension to it.

Then we get to have two versions! Cool!

saymme said 216 days ago
Great experiment !
Congratulations to song #100 by You !(!) WOW thats amazing !the lyrics touch deeply -wishing everyone heard this as everyone kinda needs to here these kind of lyrics! Especially the Young People of today it isn't easy being the Young generation in this decade to much focus on appearwence in the western World. Now I hear in France they're becoming aware of the anorexiaproblem with modells & are doing things to stop it which is Great !
onlything I wish(if I can say so to an amazing experienced musician..) is its perhaps abit 'muffled'?I wish heard the words better too, probably just a recording thing-? Like You wrote in the description You added the vox in the last minute& its an experiment. I'm sure You can master it even more & I certainly hope You will remix it:) ! Cause its a Truely Great Song.
My pleasure totally ! Tx sso much FAVED & DL !! helena

Really great song Michael
Isn't it wonderful how some of the best stuff happens when you're just experimenting and cleaning house. I also tend to premix tracks from time to time to create something that has its own force - almost like creating a stubborn member of the band - that makes you bend towards another unplanned moment. The perfect length and way too short.

lengold said 216 days ago
Really great
song and vocals Michael with some very inspired playing/production.
Cheers

High highs
Michael, as others have said, this track is really nicely done as it stands. If I were at the console, I'd bring down the trebles and bump the bass a bit. That's all.

I agree with egobandit, there's echoes of Thom Yorke in this, but it's not contrived at all.

Nice work.

Excellent song
Great sounds here. I agree with a lot of the comments already stated. I liked the ending a lot too and felt it could be a little longer. I didn't want it to end. Great job...again!

Very mellow
You have the perfect voice for this and I think the lyrics are great. It's really a cool combination of love song and fun song. I think the mix is great as is. The percussion/drums are cool. Thanks for sharing this!

didn't dry on this experiment. You drive us in superb landscapes. Bravo.

This is...
...great...the chorus is beautiful...instrumentation's imaginative...don't know about the reverse reverb, cuz I like the chorus so much, but give it a shot and post it as a remix, later? I'd be interested in hearing it.

M2;
This is phenomenal. Sometimes I can't believe the stuff you make by just throwing things together and messing with plug ins. If I was the hat wearin' type, I would take my hat off to you.
Peace,

Woo hoo!!!
drop dead gorgeous piece!!!!

I can't believe I'm so late in getting to hear this. What a talent you are--I'm such a big fan!!!

You know, I was expecting to hear an actual prepared piano, like John Cage, but then this was amazing I forgot all about that for a while. but I think that intro is like a virtual prepared piano, ay?
