Description I'm back! :) I suppose I'll get a lot of what I've beeen working on over what appears to have been over a year's absence posted over the next few weeks. This is probably one of the oldest works I haven't posted here at MacJams.

A while back, the campus ACM chapter was trying to do a video game project. For the proof of concept thing, apparently there was to be some sort of Buddhist monastery garden scene or something. I was asked to do a track about a minute in length that wouldn't annoy people if looped over and over. Thus, we have this.

As always, written in Finale note by note. Though loopable itself, no loops are contained within.

My kid
plays a lot of online video games, and I can truthfully say that there is no such thing as an UN-annoying video game song loop!
But this is not annoying, and your instrument choices are really nice.
Entering the notes one by one is a zen exercise in itself.

And I really like the picture of the traditional bridge (with ADA-compliant safety rails!)

Thanks. :)
Thanks for listening and commenting. :)

The garden photo is from the same visit a little over 3 years ago to Bellingrath Gardens as the photo used for The Camellia Rag.

Very nice instrumentation.
And very nice to see you around, too. (although I haven't been showing my own face around a lot, either.) I think the simple pentatonic melody with the reasonable variety of instruments is a great way to do one of these loops. I wrote the last thing I posted in 'Finale' as well, then transfered the MIDI file to GarageBand for final tweaking. The instruments you use here are quite pleasant and I'm wondering whether they're the garageband world instruments or something else.

Finale + Bandstand
Thanks for listening. :) I'm about to catch myself up on your music. The sudden influx of notifications from you and Mysti in the last day or so lured me back over.

As for the instruments, I used Native Instruments Bandstand. I've owned it for quite some time now, but I don't usually use it since its orchestral instruments aren't as good as Garritan. On the plus side, though, it's got every standard MIDI instrument. After trying it out on a few different instrumentations, I finally decided upon the Shakuhachi and Koto.

so this is the inverse of the hymn ??
lol ..way cool !

Andronis said 266 days ago
Not the inversion
Well, it's not the inversion of the hymn, though that might be something interesting for me to do sometime.

It's merely the opposite in concept from the hymn. The hymn is kind of grandiose, whereas this goes for simplicity.
