Description The ball of midnight, a meeting between the spirits of two comrades-in-arms...
It is a tribute to the courage and the bravery of this young lady who was so quiet in her campaign, with its sheeps, but she was convinced that she had a mission to be carried out.
This shepherdess in armor marked the history of our country. She was only 19 years old when she was condemned to death, on a stake...

A little bit long but I did not manage to reduce my text of a single word !
Translation next to the French lyrics.
I come to look for you in the intestines of this castle
j'ai tant espéré nos retrouvailles, je t'aime trop
I so much hoped for our reunion, I love you too much
jadis, ton coeur contre mon coeur
formerly, your heart against my heart
today, your soul near my soul, for all eternity

regarde, ils vont à tes funérailles, tes compagnons
look, they go to your burial, your companions
carrying your armor and your coast of stitch in procession

ils chantent le refrain de nos batailles
they sing the tune of our battles,
this song which we sang in choir when we made feast, in garrison

je me souviens lorsque ton corps contre le mien tournait si fort
I remember when your body against mine turned so hardly
and we danced until the dawn, go come, one two three, one two three

the axe of the executioner, my cheek on the block, and my head waltzed
car j'avais supprimé tous ceux qui t'avaient jugée coupable,
because I had eliminated all those who had considered you guilty,
they burned you lively on the stake, we shall go both
hanter leurs maisons de misérables
to haunt their houses of miserable

curious invitation of these voices which rise, it is necessary to you to save the nation
goodbye sheeps, you brandished the two-edged sword in your boy's dress
belle reconversion, t'as bouté l'ennemi en dehors du pays
nice reconversion, you hunted the enemy outside the country
but the plot threw you in prison

the king found his crown and his laurels, but he forgot you
he abandoned you, one day he will be considered guilty

you would like to dance indeed still, hand in hand, but here is the dawn
we shall dance on the satin bed of the king tomorrow, while he sleeps,
we shall dance so much that he will run away outside from his castle...

(Thanks for the 'fave' on my song too) I really enjoyed this and I was listening to your voice and trying to keep up with the French pronunciation as well as read the English, but I'll have to do it again to keep up, cheers M

the Maid of Orleans?
This must be the story of Joan of Arc... I have been to the church/museum that is put up in her honor in Rouen some years ago. It is an amazing, breath taking story...

Your music is so classic and you have made a suited mood for the story. Brilliant lyrics, and I see how you couldn't reduce it by a word:)

This made me do some research on the web to freshen up a bit on the things I remembered about her.

She is indeed a saint.

Thank you for this comment Thor. Yes it's indeed Jeanne d'Arc...
I lived some years near Rouen and I know well this place which you quote. On the web, I discovered recently many details about its life, about its war and I am openly impressed.

You dont post songs often Marc, but when you do, its always worth the wiat. This is truely haunting - the bells and delicate keyboards create a fantastic atmosphere, and your vocal on this is great - husky, deep, emotional. I love how the mood changes throughout the track, becoming truely uplifting as the drums kick in.
Always a treat to have a new track from you my friend - you've spoiled us with this.

Cinema quality... and I mean BIG cinema. This is huge in scope yet whisper-intimate. Most excellent sir! You have paid homage to a holy martyr...a young woman who led men to battle for a holy cause. Such is the power of the spirit indwelling and impelling.

I am absolutely amazed at the scope of this project, which in my mind (and obviously in the minds of others here) is a complete success on many levels. This is a magnificent work in every way. The instrumentation is very effective and well thought out. Your vocal track is perfect for telling the story, and what a story you've told!

To repeat myself - I am amazed. Congratulations on this spectacular piece of music.

drakonis said 267 days ago
Deliciously dark ballad and story
I really love what you have done here. What an inspiring story, with beautiful backing music to carry it on. And you have a wonderful voice, and sang this with the perfect style of emotion, sort of a longing and anger dulled by resignation. And then to translate it to English for a wider audience, that was even more work, and I appreciate that very much. It helped me understand and follow the story.

I think your orchestration is perfect and the music is great. I have one minor suggestion, if it is OK. When the music first starts, there are some low synthesizers playing long chords. The sound is very rich and warm, which is good... but they also sound a little too loud, especially in the lower midrange area (maybe around 200 Hz) and perhaps you want to use the equalizer to lower that frequency on that track a little. It makes them sound too "boomy", I think. After about a minute, the volume goes down, and it is not so noticeable... it is only a problem near the beginning. I hope this is helpful.

Overall, this is gorgeous!
ttfn,
Drakonis

I echo...
...the general thoughts of all who have heard this so far. It is just a stunning orchestration of a powerful lyric. The precise care you have taken with each instrument is evident (though not obvious!)and you created a very rich carpet for this story. Your mix is about as perfect as it could be. (Ah, I agree that the tubular bells are a perfect addition...so poignant.) It's impossible to not be drawn into your work as it is consistently solid and well-thought-out. Very much enjoyed.

You have produced soemthing profound and distinctive here. Your voice sounds terrific, as always! The instrumentation is very effective, and I love the arrangement.
