Description Buckle up, eat some paper polka dots, don your finger cymbals and turn it to 11 and a half, virtual Woodstock netizens.

You smell. The sound. Of purple.

It's basically a little exercise exploring a theme with some dual lead guitar chases. The fake poetry behind it is that it all takes place in the moment between two notes of the Star Spangled Banner.
Hardware My ol' Fender Strat Plus, Boss GT-6 (effects), PreSonus Inspire 1394 (interface) and an assortment of plucky plectra. (The "synth" sound in the background is just some heavily effected guitar.)
Software: It's all just my effected Strat Plus into GarageBand with some reverb and echo, including the bass and "synth" washes.

One drum loop. (I posted it without the second loop's level up... so be it.)

Purple
Like I just said to you in chat while I was listening to this - it's awesome. Really really impressive guitar work. Shades of Hendrix - highest compliment - thanks!

bud said 277 days ago
Love everything about this
the Grateful Dead drumming - the background washes and the soaring riffs. Doesn't get much better than this in my book. Psychedelicize me.

aclarke said 277 days ago
Timeless really
there's always a place in my world for some grooving and trippy guitar playin'. What I really liked was the clear sense of melody in the song... can't say that's always the norm in some of these spaced out jams. You've got some style, Bob! Way to make the Strat laugh, cry and sing!

sloparts said 277 days ago
It's like listening to
Jimmy Page and Jimi Hendrix when they're on acid, which would have been appropriate for the time. Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention, the backup band was Lead Zeppelin.

Far out bit of Psychedelic mind distortion there Bob. Great feel to it and it's easy to dance to, oh wait, that was on American Bandstand. Never mind, I'm losing it from all the drops and toke man, but it's super cool no matter what.

Great tracks Bob and it fit in with the whole Woodstock thing.

THANKS!
Really I wanna thank everyone, but picked (SloParts') kind words to post this reply. Love my new digs at MJ. And if you wanna hear the version with the missing drum loop added back in, it's linked in the song description above... if you really want it I'll be glad to e-mail it to ya.

Lots of delay and 'verb, not to mention some possible synth simulation via the GT-6... gee, this 60s music might be more 90s afterall...

Holy Jeff Beck Batman
Brilliant... nice playing ....you sound like Jeff Beck to me....

Bob6stringer said 276 days ago
re: "sound like Jeff Beck" ...
Y'know, I didn't try to sound like anyone but I definitely thought it ended up sounding like nobody but Jeff Beck.

Also, thanks EVERYONE for the feedback. It's much appreciated.

Norman Goodman said 275 days ago
Jeff Beck
The comparison was intended as a compliment....the cool use of the tremolo arm...the unpredictable phrasing and the patience and taste in your delivery, the great tone on the chording ( and imaginative structures )....whether you are into Jeff Beck or not, it doesn`t matter I thought this was very good

Bob6stringer said 272 days ago
Beck-ola!
My wording above was a little convoluted... It wasn't an intention going in, but indeed I definitely noticed a Beck sound in this when I was midway through. The same thing happened with a tune "What Exit?" which I have at my older home (iComps) and will post here soon. It holds together better compositionally and has more has more energy...

The biiiiiig sound
Very cool production. Your reverb and echo sound great. I like listening to these biiiig sounds.

Ibstrat said 275 days ago
I really
like the way you intertwined the guitars on this- sometimes in harmony, sometimes answering each other.Great tone and phrasing.Excellent track.

i agree with norman
this has a realy nice beck feel about it. jeff's custom shop album had alot of music similar to this. very cool fusion of rock and blues here. i loved it and the sustain carrying throughout the tune was a g reat way to fill the spaces in between.

Now THIS is the song art I should have used...
Just wanna thank all who commented. I'm tempted to develop this further, it just occurred to me there's an opportunity for a whole new, overlapping melody, and a bridge... not sure about lyrics. For now I'll keep moving forward.

Hey, wow, another listen!
Thanks for da support... for coming back for another listen to my "purple" psychedelic-ish jam. I have more stuff at iCompositions but have kind of gravitated here since the crash there... the mix of musicians seems a little more my speed.

But man I've been so swamped trying to get my freelancing under control (writing) under control I'm now like months behind in getting collab tracks done... I might actually get something done this weekend.

Mainly, I just wanna say good luck to both of us getting new noise online!

Great
Stuff. Wild guitar ride. A heaping helping of some years gone by. You have quite a style. O.K. I am rambeling. Awesome !!!
Thanks and be well, Russ

Bob6stringer said 155 days ago
Ramble away!
If that's rambling, I like it! Thanks for the feedback. I kind of had that riff running through my head and churned it out quick and loose for the Woodstock "event." I've been off the fretboard for a couple of months, this is the last thing I did and it's killing me... I'll be back soon.

synesthetic
very nice guitar sounds from the strat, cool bass playing too.
I like! Guitar instrumentals with generous use of the whammy bar always hit the spot for me.
