Description There are some fantastic artists here that have offered some collabs that I have been working through for a long while now and I really hope to beat some of this writer’s block lyrically to finish those projects soon. I appreciate the patience from those waiting.

In trying to break some lyrical ground at the “wall of nothing” I sometimes employ writer’s block method #78, subsection (a) which takes me to trying to complete a thought semi-poetically and branch off from there to finish that scribble musically. This came out of one of those head bashing sessions this week, so I threw together some semi-heavy guitars, rhythm and ambience to flesh it out of the system. A Muse cleansing of sorts for you New Age cats and kitties.

It’s hard to take myself seriously when doing these exercises as I am trying to get back on the path to real writing for these other songs, so please import no theological significance and/or emulsification from the exorcizing. In the meantime, feel my catharsis and know that I am digging your vibes.

Boss Hook: Music, lyrics, instruments, production, demonic cathartic head bashing.
Lyrics Trading Punches With The Prince of Darkness

© Boss Hook Music Publishing, 2008

You were lonely so I brought you here,
To wrestle demons in a velvet covered room of mirrors.
In that corner weighing on your mind,
Is the undisputed heavy weighted demon of all time.

Will you be ready when they ring the bell?
Trading punches with the Prince of Darkness surely can be Hell. Literally.

You were happy so I brought you home,
Slaying Demons oddly makes you feel so satisfied and warm!
That’s your forte now I know,
Trading punches with the Prince of Darkness suits you well.
Hardware Fender strat, Fender tele, Ensoniq keys, and some shooby doo programming.

This is a fun song. Cool sound too. Quite the exercise - is it curing the block?
Great stuff man!

Hellishly entertained
I've not had such a side splittin' time of it surrounding the subject of Satan since early South Park episodes.A wonderfully entertaining tune both lyrically and musically.Good stuff!

Well
it sounds like your creative juice is flowing just fine. I can't imagine trying to write words for someone else, Its hard enough to find words for yourself. I use a ryhming dictionary when I get stuck. This piece is out there and that's cool. A funny portrayal of El Diablo. Regards

BossHook said 240 days ago
Thanks
El Diablo, Lucifer and Bealzebub all sound funny to me in this context. Hope my head doesn't start spinning around later.

The Hell You Say!
Slinky and slightly spooky... and even a bit funny (*Don't forget to tip your bartenders... if you can find one*). You have apparently played in too many bars. LOL

Cool tune, John. For some bizarre reason, I could imagine Joe Walsh doing this song, which brings me to this observation... I was waiting for all hell to break loose in here... some super-slinky, super-cool guitar break. But it never came.

Given the short duration of this tune, I think you could sneak one in without much problem. Just a thought... or a temptation. ;)

your comments are always poignant and appreciated. Yes, this song came about as a carthasis for not doing so well with some writer's block. But I should add a guitar lead in there for more muscle.

Good title ..
.. good song! Like the mix, great vocals - you have an amazing voice. Sounds a little like something from a musical (a la Rocky Horror). Like Joe, I'd expected a take-off into mayhem, but good post regardless.

Great!
This style is usually not what I am looking for, but this song has its own aura. I can not resist.

Great work, lyrics, guitar, bass and drum, mix...

Just a complete work.
And BTW: Perfect voice for this stuff!

Thanks a lot for sharing and for expanding my musical horizon!

Greetings,

Bernd

Out of this world!!!
Where do you come up with these ideas. Your juices are flowing just fine my friend. To take such bizarre lyrical content and put it to some really cool music is what it is all about. Nice stuff...Let's collaberate on something soon. Gotta love this Chicago weather, it's April and I am still freezing. Peace my brotha.

whatever it takes
i really like that snappy percussion - it grabbed me from the start.
and when you went all whack lyrically,
8)
it was STILL good,
and when you returned to that dark serious groove, lo - it was yummy. i like your strength of singing - real nice WHY SHOULD I HOLD BACK ? kinda delivery that i'd kill to have. your Work Thru It tune was cool - if this is you stuck, i sure look forward to a listen when you're not.

You already know...
...know what I think, that is. But I'll say it again: Everything you do, even the little side-projects as you explain above, comes out great. "How ya doin, I'm Lucifer... I'll be here all week..." classic stuff. HAYAYAYAYA!!!
