Description A behind the music type of thing.
About___________(your favorite celebrity here). The rise and demise of fame and fortune. I tend to think that the media and papparazi has a lot to do with those moments of insanity that we see.
Lyrics She Sings Body Electric

bathed in neon
it's all for show
tinsel town talk
we like to glow
all she will is smile and dance

chorus:
she sings the body electric
(touch me spark me worship me)
she sings the body electric
(touch me spark me worship me)

tabloid photos
we can't read the print
late night talk shows
on the tv set
and we wish she knew our names

chorus:
she sings the body electric
(touch me spark me worship me)
she sings the body electric
(touch me spark me worship me)

she likes to slide and glide everywhere
and she told me it's not forever
(touch me spark me worship me)

chorus:
she sings the body electric
(touch me spark me worship me)
she sings the body electric
(touch me spark me worship me)

she's so bad
intentions are good
rehab vacations
we misunderstood
all she will do is smile and dance

chorus:
she sings the body electric
(touch me spark me worship me)
she sings the body electric
(touch me spark me worship me)

papparazzi cheese
show those teeth
internet rumors
we want to believe
and we wish she knew our names.

chorus:
she sings the body electric
(touch me spark me worship me)
she sings the body electric
(touch me spark me worship me)
she sings the body electric
she sings the body electric

Papparazzi Cheese
I love the line about papparazzi cheese followed by a mention of teeth, because it brings to mind a very gruesome kind of image, which is very apropos of the darkness often just behind the glossiness of celebrity, and I agree with you that the media often pushes people directly over the edge.

So, really cool lyrics, but the song itself is really super-catchy. It's a very bouncy kind of song, no surprise that the guitar are killer. The only thing I think I'm not as excited by is the fade at the end. The bass at the opening, however is awesome!

Vic Holman said 281 days ago
say cheese!
thanks for the really nice comments. I was trying to think of something at the end but couldn't come up with anything. until after I posted then i thought "man i should of put a lot of camera clicks, etc in. it's always after the fact.

Vic Holman said 281 days ago

you probably won't believe that i actually came up with this tune on a acoustic originally.

Thanks again Feter, it's always a pleasure to know you like the tunes.

said 281 days ago
It's official!
You are THE man Vic!

Great tune. Great message.

A really complex arrangement here. Good to see you continuing NOT to shrink from taking chances!

Keep rocking our bodies electric bro!

Be well!

Vic Holman said 281 days ago
Thanks Mike
i had to rock the casbah, since doing the acoustic piece last post. i think it's the SG electric' devil horns that made me do it.

sweet!
vic! this is my absolute favorite thing you've done! it's tough yet poppy at the same time. reminds me of a heavier duran duran. the chorus & bridge are great. awesome stuff! faved & downed!

Vic Holman said 281 days ago
girls on film
at first i was going to take this in a U2 fashion, but i kinda took another path. this gave me a good adreneline rush to play. I had all the guitar and bass tracks down and done in under 2 hours. that always makes ya feel good and hopefully it crosses into the music.

said 281 days ago
Amazing!!
Vic this sounds briiliant- what a great sound
your singing is really good love the lyrics and the pic looks great. you rock! :)

Peace Dee.

Vic Holman said 281 days ago
Thanks Dee
the music tracks were done pretty quickly in a afternoon. But it took me a week to try to figure what to write about. I just started ad libbing and the lyrics came pretty fast at that point. Thanks for giving it a listen!

Skean said 281 days ago
I love this Vic music thing
You are always so cool when you do a song... Love the message way to go... Cheers my friend.

Vic Holman said 281 days ago
Thanks Kenta
of course i had to do a rocker tune after doing a sleepy tune to wake you up! don't want you dozing of here!

peacepiano said 281 days ago
Timely
You are hitting the current obsession right on. There have been paparazzi for years, but it seems like its either getting worse or some "celebrities" are exploiting them for self promotion. The lines between publicity stunt and self destructive behavior is getting very blurry. Very Cool song

Thanks
Bill

Vic Holman said 281 days ago
Thanks Bill
how true, seems most people like to see a train wreck in progress. there was a good article in rolling stone several weeks back on the demise of Britney Spears, and the weird environment it has become.

Thanks again Bill

You have a knack
for knocking out hits, man, Tom Petty should hire you. Too bad I don't know him. I know I always compare you with him, but I always get compared, too.

Really great tune.

Thanks Dave, unfortunately i don't know T.P. either. I would probably be shot on site if I came running up to him yelling "hey Tom I got something for you!"

jiguma said 281 days ago
Love it Vic!
Really good tune/production/vocals/guitars/drums and BASS!

This really moves - getting better and better. A keeper!

No Ozone again I presume.

Neil

Vic Holman said 281 days ago
Thanks Neil
I thought having the bass do it's own thing would give it a neat counter vibe to the fast guitars and drums. it cuts through pretty good that I was prretty happy about.

true no Ozone, ( i never have owned that software anyway ) just 3 plug-ins on the master output track.

Can you get any better.. this should be in the cbgb challange ! right on with the worship me line.. You make me laugh! Man this stick to the ribs greatness I say!

Vic Holman said 280 days ago
Hey Tim
I'll have one for the party... this one has too many guitar solos, i think, to be eligible. and yeah, I'm sure some celebrities loved to be worshipped

dajama said 281 days ago
Killer intro
Love the bass - great sound and nice way to open. Good drum sound too, and awesome guitar. It almost goes without saying, but, hey, it's worth saying again and again! Your guitar work is outstanding. What makes your playing so exceptional is that you always wrap it in such great songs. This is pro-sounding, brilliantly arranged, and very much of the moment. You're tuned into the zeitgeist, dude. Great job - nicely done, my friend. Peace.

Vic Holman said 280 days ago
Thanks David
this is one of those songs that came pretty quickly. I laid down all the guitars and bass tracks in two hours. the song itself i worked out in one evening prior. But it took over a week to think about any lyrics (that's what always holds me up). Thanks for the all to kind words!

Punk Rock Vic
Wow you continually surprise, that chorus is electric in itself, Really high energy song Vic I agree this is a cbgb tinged tune

Ahh well cbgb is coming so that will be exciting seeing what you got coming

Great sound Vic!

Vic Holman said 280 days ago
Hey Tom
for CBGB, I'll go by Vic Vicious.

michael2 said 281 days ago
awesome
love that bass and drums intro. this is really rocking and timely. great lyrics too. having a hard time keeping up with everyones music lately, so glad this didn't escape me.

Vic Holman said 280 days ago
Thanks Michael
I've been wanting to use the open low B string on the bass for some time. a perfect opportunity here. i had the chorus early on but no verses. until i started ad libbing stuff. then they came right off the bat. seems to work for me lately

another...
inspired hit tune from the guy up north... holed up in his garage with that wild guitar. The neighbors can't figure him out... orders out for pizza and beer... and the music continues. (it's late... rambling on).

Vic... real good stuff here. And, I think I dated a girl once like the one in your song art... Stella?!

Vic Holman said 280 days ago
Thanks Jack
you're right my neighbors don't know what to think. Most of them are in their 80's and listen to police scanners at night.

Nothing wrong at all with red heads. they can be fiery at times

Vic - you
just get better and better. Killer song, performance and production.
My son is a rather well known (within those circles) pap. photographer and can tell some great stories. There are two sides to each of them.
Cheers

Vic Holman said 280 days ago
Thanks Len
I'm sure your son has seen some crazy things without a doubt. that seems to be quite a competitive occupation these days.

come to think of it, with the stories set to music one could come up with the celebrity chronicles

Uncle Fester
I love the wall of churning guitars, bass and smash-the-trash-can drums kicking off the boot-to-the-head intro! Lyrics are tight and dead-on, rocking wide awake at 140 mph!

Uncle Fester?

Vic Holman said 280 days ago
Hi Rik
uncle fester was a head of his time with the shaved head and goth eye shadow. goes to show time as a celebrity sure is fleeting.

bud said 280 days ago
Another killer chorus
wrapped around a solid verse and trippin' bridge. You have this ability to do so much more with a song than most. Really like the zipper guitar effect - sliding up and down - very sexy and frantic at the same time.

Vic Holman said 280 days ago
Thanks Kevin
I had the guitar and bass tracks done when the CBGB proposition came up. I'm looking forward to that. with less zippers more than likely.

Mcboy said 280 days ago

it was coming up with lyrics that always kills me. laying down the guitar tracks was fast, but took a week to even think of anything, the most dreaded final act for me.

Vic - I just love this song! Great lyrics (and message), your vocals are PERFECTO, and it's just a terrific rocker. I'm dancing in my living room (how pathetic!) Thanks

Vic Holman said 278 days ago
dancing the night away
i don't dare dance around, not only am i bad at it, but you never know how could be stalking around the window. it would be terrible to end up on youtube.

One of your best Vic.

The rhythm guitar is great and your voice is really working well.

Cheers

Dick

Vic Holman said 277 days ago
thanks Dick
i used 3 different electrics for the rhythm parts to fill it out tonally a bit. come to think of it i think i put down 6 rhythm guitar tracks and a few harmony parts as well. I worked this one out one evening on a acoustic. and recorded all the guitar and bass tracks in a couple hours on a Saturday afternoon. inspiration at it's finest moment. i would like more of those

Ejh said 277 days ago
Listening hard...
...I'm aware of how steadily and subtly, but definitely, your recorded sound has become more sophisticated.

What I'm hearing here is a really solid bass that actually adds something to both the mix and to the arrangement, and puts something low down to counterbalance the Vic Holman trademark treble in the guitars...

I also hear some nicely sophisticated use of compression, maybe multi-band compression... the whole mix has a sheen and an evenness...

I like that the song has a chorus with a hook, and I also like that the chorus hook isn't the ONLY hook in the song...

The guitar work is always accomplished, but what's cool here is that, in behind the phases or flanged or chorused 'front' guitars that define your sound, there is some darker, more distorted color that augments but doesn't override those main guitars... The multiple guitar parts are really tight on this one, too; no "overdub overhang". And yes, the solo's good. The solo's always good.

Interesting thing to write about, too. I await the video with interest.

Ed

Vic Holman said 277 days ago
Hi Ed
i kept the rhythm guitar very dry, no reverb or delays so the layers and the harmony guitar lines would sit nicely. i figured the bass needed to do its own thing to counter the guitars as well. Everything went smoothly and quickly when recording, which was a plus and kept the energy level up.

L-8 has a great waveburner mulit-proccesser that gives you a lot of flexibility.

Sorry, no video, but maybe some stick figure drawings?

... it's a sci-fi book isn't it? Celebrity culture is an endlessly fascinating modern malaise .... we all want to be loved and love to hate. the production and playing on this is flawless... you are full to the brim with talent little droid!

Vic Holman said 275 days ago
it turns out....
that is a short story. didn't know it at the time.

oddly enough, i was flipping through the channels on T.V. and came across a old Twilight Zone TV episode based off of the same story.

Thanks for the listen, really liked your new tune alot

Man Vic, you nailed a really great sound on this one. People are gonna argue with me on this, but I think the bass line is rockin!

I'm moving your autographed photo into the living room tonight, just over the fireplace, next to the fish tank and the GI Joe.
