Lyrics Off-World Colony

Another world awaits me there
Another planet far from here
Where I can live without a care
Where all my problems disappear
I need to forget everything
So take it all away from me
Take the violence, take this pain
I need to find myself again

"A new life awaits you in the
Off-World Colony. The chance
to begin again in a golden
land of opportunity and
adventure. Let's go to
the Colony!"

Am I made of flesh and bone?
Are these memories my own?
This gun is heavy in my hand
Am I more human than human?

The lights are flashing overhead
They pull me out of deaf silence
The words are scrolling left to right
I've got to leave this place tonight

Thanks back at you! I had a great time working on this too.

One of the greatest movies.......
of all time. Great job guys. I totally get the lyrics. Love the "Off-world colony" sample. Ridley would be proud.

Thanks Dave. I'm glad you get it. It's meant to be told from the POV of Deckard the night he hunts for all the Replicants. There's one moment when he's first introduced when he looks up at the Off-World zeppelin as it flies over - I'd always wondered what he was thinking. Man I'm a nerd!

lavalamp said 234 days ago
I remember that scene too
I such a nerd, too.

Karmatoburn said 235 days ago
very cool
your vocal sounds great just a little unlike you? i guess its the whole atmospherics of the track, its off worldly! really enjoyed the heavy analog synth riffs. now off to check out joe's page!

rsorensen said 235 days ago
different
hah thanks. yeah there's 2 diff harmonies going on with the main vocal, and the main vocal is pretty filtered itself. Definitely going for a different sound there. Thanks for checking it out.

Lennon714 said 235 days ago
dig it!
What a great concept for a song. I was anticipating some heavy guitars and/or drums to roll in. I was tricked and that's cool. I'll compare the experience to listening to Weezer's "Butterfly" for the first time. I was expecting feedback and volume swells. Didn't happen, but when the song was done I was like, "Wow. That's totally unexpected and I love it". Great job, guys!

rsorensen said 235 days ago
remix
thanks eric! that's interesting - it never occurred to me to try that, but I can totally hear it happening now - especially after the bridge. Maybe we'll do a heavier remix someday. Could be cool! And btw, you referenced a song off my #1 album of all time. I know every note of that record inside-out. Big points for you!

hey thanks for downloading! i appreciate it.

Nick_Flash said 234 days ago
Yeah!
Awesome collab guys. This is definitely a different sound from you and thats part of what makes it so good. All the sounds sort of melt together to form this solid track. Love the growl of the guitars in the background.
Nice work.

rsorensen said 234 days ago
guitars
thanks nick. joe sent me a great original track with a lot of that growl already there and got everything rolling. fun!

Geez!
This is as good as In My Head Again and I can't believe you've put out songs since then and I've missed them. I need to double check my email notifications. The whole package here smokes, guys, but I think the sing-song verse is really catchy. You have a great voice and I'd love to hear a not-so-effected track come in, blended in with the others, here and there, but that's me trying to perfect things, not me saying things aren't really enjoyable just as they are right now.

Guitars, HOLY! and the synths are just gorgeous, really beautiful sounds and I love the moments where they feature. The end is delicious.

remix
thanks! i might rework this one a little bit at some point, which'll include clearing up the vox in the first verse and leaving them distorted for the last. i'll post the link here when it's done. thanks for listening and commenting.

great track
love that you guys collaborated on this (you're both great guys and talented to boot). ther is so much new nusic on MJ that it took me awhile to get to this one, but i'm glad i didn't miss it. very innovative approach to heavy music (love that moog bit in the middle).

rsorensen said 233 days ago
moog
thanks michael. glad you found it! i hear ya about it being hard to keep up though...
that moog thing was a last minute addition. I hesitated adding it because there's so much else going on there, but I reworked the section so it builds from a little to a lot. Glad you think it works and thanks for checking it out.

Any friend of Dekards...
.... is a friend of mine. Nice mix of beats and roaring guitar... like the distorted vocal on this, really effective. Smart how you incorporate the BR sample in this track - great track guys!

rsorensen said 228 days ago
blade runner rules
joe's responsible for the beats. i love em too. i know some don't like the distorted vox, but it was the only way to go for this one imo. glad you liked it, thanks for listening
