Keywords LIOLI (47)stooey (9)
Description As I listened to the song a few times, I realized that in a vague sort of way, I was paying tribute to one of my favorite guitar composer, Mike Oldfield. That's where the title comes from. It's a lame attempt to pay tribute to both Oldfield and the LIOLI challenge.

I took the loop as the main theme and then in Oldfiled style I keep using it over and over in different ways. Mostly by adding GB vocal effects. It does not have the complexity of and original Oldfield riff, but I think it is still a humble tribute to his minimalist style.

I humbly offer this entry to LIOLI 7 and hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating it.

PS. I only found out about LIOLI 7 on Thursday, as I have not been around MJ as much as I would like. However, if it sounds rushed, it not because of the time frame, but simply that I am not patient enough to tinker. (I guess I am like the Ed Wood of GB!)

Looking forward to hearing the other entries!

stooey said 248 days ago
As I have always said in LIOLI
embrace the loop!

Makes for a nice mantra.

WillyB said 249 days ago
Yeah, where's that loop stoo? :-D
Sounds like you had fun doin this one. Fun listening too!

stooey said 248 days ago
Thanks!

You are fun
And I can heard you had lots of fun and that is for me the point.
Are you sure you use that loop...hehehehe... Cool mix my friend dig it.

stooey said 248 days ago
Thanks!
I did have fun. It was one of my best hours this week.

fine exemple of how inspiring this bloody loop can be!

stooey said 248 days ago
Thanks
I actually kinda like the loop. Of course that probably comes from years of Air Guitar, where you dream of hitting a series of big notes in front of thousands of screaming fans.

An intimate setting with lights, fog, a stack of Marshalls, a few "mild" explosives, and an amp set at 11

SmokeyVW said 248 days ago
like a wolf
it's like a wolf circling its victim - getting every angle on it.

that one that starts around 46 seconds is especially great.

thanks

stooey said 248 days ago
thanks
the one at 46 seconds is the vocal effect "mouse Voice"

I made it a shorted loop because I thought it would be too annoying if it were longer, yet based on everyone's opinion of the loop, I thought I should leave a bit of it in.

said 248 days ago
I think
it came out much more interesting than mine...

12 minutes?

stooey said 248 days ago
I like yours too!
Actually I think I spent about an hour playing around with it. I could've, and probably should have) spent more. I can hear a few bad cut of the loop.

Thanks

bud said 248 days ago
Kill him with his own poison
hoist him by his own petard - flog him with wretched loop. Yeah! Nice one Stooey.

stooey said 248 days ago
Rumor has it
the doc is hearing the loop in his dreams...

Didn't someone once say "The sountrack for your life!" Oh well. His choice.

As a good person I should feel sorry for poor Doc. (I should...but I don't!)

Fun effects
This loop is going to ruin so many songs for me. I'll never be able to listen to the Kinks again without wincing. I'd actually like to watch an Ed Wood movie with this as the soundtrack. Maybe there would be some wierd Dark Side of the Moon/Wizard of Oz thing that happens!

stooey said 248 days ago
Actually
If you listen closely, you can hear Ed saying..."Cut, that's a wrap!"

But in true Ed Wood style, wouldn't one of us have to die a week into the production?

Diviner said 248 days ago
Wow
How many times can you play with the loop? Very cool track and a very interesting take on Lioli. Esp like Ed Wood reference, which is another reason why I like this track as I like Ed Wood.

stooey said 247 days ago
Thanks
as I said earlier, my usual philosophy is to embrace the loop. Then try to throw a few surprises. However, I am amazed at the results others get by destroying the loop.

I love this contest!

AAAAAAAHHHH!
Dr. Lioli is striking back. Look how he cleverly made it look like I double posted. He has infiltrated my ISP connection and wreaking havoc on my http, my slq, not to mention my ASAP.

Come On SuperLoopers. To the fight!

Loops, Loops, Loops
...these things are coming to life, seeping out of the walls and ceiling, driving by on cheerful little bicycles tooting those merry rubber-bulb horns - only instead of honking, they play that loop again. This is the inside of Dr. Lioli's mind, disintegrating under a barrage of madness he created.

Possibly the most grimly psycho-happy mix of loop I've heard yet. Stooey, it's great to have ye back, lad.

stooey said 247 days ago
Thanks Rik
It's good to be back. Moving to a new place with new schedules has made it difficult to work in time for MJ. But I had to come back when I heard of the attack of the evil Dr. Lioli. However, I have a hunch that I may know the Dr. secret identity. But I may be able to keep it to my self for a series of 10's.

Do you have any idea who it mught be? Hmmmmm?

said 247 days ago
Who Is Dr. Lioli
...Errr.................my, look at the time, gotta go!

stooey said 246 days ago
Right!
Yeah it is getting late. Did you give me those 10's?

said 246 days ago
10s
There'll be an unmarked envelope slid under your door.

stooey said 246 days ago
Thanks
I knew I could count on you Do...hmm hmm I mean Rik

announcer said 248 days ago
Please make it stop
No offense but despite what Dick Chaney might think THIS IS TORTURE! :) and I mean this in the best sense of the word cause you managed to torture not only me but the loop as well.

Good entry!

stooey said 247 days ago
Sorry!
I didn't mean to cause you pain too. I was aiming it at the evil Dr.

Would this constitute "friendly Fire"?

Thanks for listening.

rabittwhole said 246 days ago
hello stu and lol
this had me grinning man .... think you must have put some major hurt on the doc here .... too funny man and pretty darn cool!

stooey said 245 days ago

I had fun making this one.

Prize
Wow, I think you deserve the prize for featuring the loop the most. Right up front with no apologies. And this is a fun piece to listen to, too. Great Job!!!

Thanks
Bill

THANKS!
Thanks for listening, I had fun making this. My usual philosophy for LIOLI is "embrace the loop!"

Thanks again.

Gets the head bobbing
Fun take on the various flavours of this loop. You morph it this way and that, shake and bake it, and it keeps on coming back and playing.

Mr. Wood would be proud!

Cheers,
Doug

stooey said 243 days ago
Thanks for listening!
Kind of a toungu twister. Ed Wood would be proud!

Or is that Ed Wood be proud? Ed Would be Proud? How much wood would an ed wood proud if an ed wood would be proud.

Sorry about that. You get this from my mind for 30 seconds....I have to live with it.

Anyways, I'm glad you got a chuckle from the tune. It was fun punishing the loop, to punish the listeners!

Snappy
Stooey, you've got a very snappy track here. Love the effects. And the piano chords at the beginning sound a lot like the beginning of "Birdland" by Manhattan Transfer. Cool stuff.

Now I'm hearing "You really got me! You really got me!" in your loops. (The Kinks, me thinks.)

Sounds like you're having a lot of fun with GB, and it shows. Keep posting, man.

stooey said 141 days ago
Hey John!
Thanks for listening. I did have fun with this one.

As for the piano chords. I played them without any thought to anything but trying to put together somethings simple, but pleasant.

(Actually, I used my wife's Clavinova, again!. But don't tell her, OK)
