well - honky tonk blues is something I've been trying to teach in a school.I'm no virtuoso but the way I think of it is a bit like skateboarding or stuntriding or something like that - and theres still plenty of stuff I cant do that I'd like to be able to.The hardest thing Ive found is getting the right hand to work independently of the left hand or vice versa and up until a couple of years ago i was still pretty hopeless.I can just about get away with it now - but the only reason it happened - I'm terrible at practise is that I got a job playing piano and pretty soon realised that without improvisation I'd get really bored of the job witch would be a shame,so I just took the plunge and every week tried to play something new and over 4 years i luckily seem to have developed quite a taste for the improvisation - but for some reason play best with a hangover.I think listening really helps too - art tatum always gives me loads of things to 'attempt' even if I dont come within a million miles - still discover something new.

Anyway - your piece here sounds pretty good to me - you are doing alot the blues 'tricks' in there, and gettin the rhythm - the main thing is enjoying it.

Dont know if that was much help but I tried..
Cheers - Richard

Any feedback..
..is useful, thanks, (you want to try My Soundclick for a lack of it ...sheeesh..) this was a purely improv'd one take no messing about piece ...I think I was actually driving the on board rhythmn box as well...fills and such..and it came out like it did so I left it alone and posted..probably a bit cheeky but what the heck,as you said I enjoyed it.

Fun listen
Too fast.. hah! There's no rules here for that... well, non that I follow. nope, more importantly it was in solid and consistent timing. The progression itself wasn't terribly special but I really was digging the improv playing... very cool.

As a pretty mediocre guitar player I really have no place judging your piano playing... but I will say i had a damn good time listening to it!

Thanks, glad you got some enjoyment out of it.and you're right on the money, it was pure improv on a basic blues/rock'n'roll 3 chord structure.

I've heard faster!
That is not to say better! I personally like this and I think the speed fits!

Really very cool!

Oh ya...
The only comment I would make would be to mix things to span left to right. It seemed like everything was in the middle.

That piano could stand to pan from time to time too! It is so strong.

Just opinion. Really a great work!
