. part of the title comes from: om mani padme hum note there are six syllables. see here for lots of info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Om_mani_padme_hum now consider this ancient trivia (possibly urban myth, but i don't think so): Why are phone number seven digits? --- The short-term memory capacity for most people is between five and nine items or digits. This is one reason that phone numbers were kept to seven digits (not including area code). maybe the reason this mantra works so well is that it pretty much fully occupies the left brain? or maybe not? (and where does the other part of the title originate?) thanks!

	who knows? i was too busy to notice. :-) i realized at some point that Ravi played Woodstock, but there were no refs to his music in the songs here so far... someone had to do it! thanks

	we just needed to hear sitars. well, i did anyway. some of voice samples aren't really prayers - but that's OK. it's the thought that counts? (i don't actually know what several of them are saying - i hope it's nothing bad.) thanks! and thanks again for assembling this project! great idea! great! great! great!

i'm naturally high -- however, i think it was wholly modal rounders. it's an amazing amount of fun putting together tunes like this. i started from a half-finished piano noodle from a few weeks ago tentatively titled "down". then the need for a sitar piece for Woodstock became apparent. the two notions collided. but the mix was too sparse. so i raided freesound.org for spoken voices. along the way i found a French chanted prayer. that remixed into part of the piano so nicely i could not believe my ears. after more adjustments, voila! thanks Dick peace

. you know, i was thinking someone could actually have pulled this off live by using several tape recorders playing the sound samples... the sitars, piano, and tablas would have been played live. John Cage could certainly have done it - he was definitely into that sort of concept of musical performance art in 1969. more recently, The Flaming Lips have done extensions of these sorts of ideas about sonic performance art. (i often enjoy experimenting on the fringes of music, like this song.) thanks, glad you liked it.

	. peace, love & understanding have always been around, and they continue to this very day. i believe the trouble is that there is also war, hate & confusion mixed in simultaneously. that continues to this day as well. after all, the Vietnam war and the draft was going on during Woodstock... thank you
