Imagine
Maybe it's the slide or the drums, but this reminds me of something that should have come off of Lennon's Imagine album. That, of course, is a great thing.

Hi, Helena
Thanx for the nice words. Am I famous? Not very; Edmonton to Winnipeg I'm known, but not very well - health has got in the way significantly over the last twenty years, resulting in a lot of hiccups. I start gigging again in April after a five year layoff (health) and I'm hoping to come up with a web strategy that will mean I don't have to heavy tour, so, maybe...

In Anglo, Long Friday is Good Friday - Happy Easter

Cheers, Paul

it's the gospel truth!
I saw this and thought it was The Blues Project song, which I was always a big fan of, but this is a different song, nonetheless it's great. Nice piano solo there! Great recording, and the guitar tone is great.

Hey Jim
Sometimes mistaken identity is good!

Don't think I've ever had so any repplies to to at once, so I'm gonna be lazy and just say 'Thanks, everyone!' (I'm a really slow typist, too)
Hope my head can stand all the flattery without bursting my hat.

Cheers, Shaky

Like a mix between
good old Delta blues mixed with some Memphis blues, and sprinkled with some Chicago blues dust for good measure. Killer track hear Paul, Kudos on doing it right. Great mix with stellar playing all around, and the voice and vocal was the best it gets.

Thanks for laying this one on The MJ Woodstock stage man

Not that the votes are THAT important, but it's nice to know the good guys will rally round when injustice is done.

I don't see any goats here!
But what I DO hear is one almighty terrific tune!
Great mix, great slide, great vocals & great keys!

I'm really impressed how you've kept everything understated- what I mean is, it's so easy to overcrowd the instrumentation in this style, but you've kept each track in its place & saved the each solo for the right moment- this shows true musicianship.

Good stuff Paul!

An all around instant fave!
Cheers!
Alf

Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou
It's easy to do it right when you have the right players, and during the period when I was making these tracks, I had access to some of the best Edmonton has to offer, particularly the youngsters, Graham Guest (piano) and Wayne Alchin (guitar, but he's not on this track). And given one has killer talent to play with, the results SHOULD be good.

Cheers, Shaky

I really
get confused where Blues,Gospel and Soul are concerned cos they seem to bleed into one and over each other...does it make a real difference or is there a clear definition?...whatever this is great I love the pianner again and the guitar just oozes blueses.....well matey I started in the middle of your back catalog wi'Stones In My Passway, then worked up from earliest to latest and stap me vitals guvnor, if I haven't had a more enjoyable morning listening to some great blues.......I now away to prackyarctiss some more....now where's that beer bottle neck ?......

Thanx again, everyone
Yup, blues, country, gospel, rock and roll and soul all have areas of overlap, and it can be very hard to say this is...(insert genre here). The lyrics can give you a clue; if they're religious, it's gospel, if they're young and rebellious, it's rock, secular but inspirational, soul. If there's tears in the beers, it's country. Down and dirty truth-telling, well, it's blues.

Cheers, Shaky

Glad I came back for seconds on this one, just really good slide and keys work, gravelly vox - it all works.
