Description Little known fact: the act between The Who and Jefferson Airplaine at Woodstock, just before dawn, was yours truly: guitapick.

This is my encore. Great memories...

;)

Thanks Feter...this was a blast. I was going to put the tune up on it's own, and probably will one of these days...but this was a really fine springboard.

BTW: headphones bring out the best in this one, folks...catch some subtleties...

Sold my ticket when I was a teen...not much into big crowds and knew this one would be out of control...but, as you can see, I was able to sneak in and do a set....

Much obliged, bud...please pass the Baked Alaska...

Gotta get Protools...pitch corrector on realtime instruments would be so fine with the slide. Tough to get that glass thang straight at the 12th and above, consistently. But this works fine with a "live" setting...

'course...I could always do another take...practice, practice, practice....

Fantastic job Bob. You even hit all the notes, or should I say slid up to them. Excellent production and I love the intro, out go on it. Playing Woodstock must have been a blast man.

Thanks Bob, great work here my friend.

Like violin vibrato: if you miss the note by a bit, you can kind of move it up or down with the finger movement...

Glad you liked this, Ed...thanks

ROFL... loved the sneaky announcement you snuck in there, "Dagostino to the security tent..." (can't get much past dragon ears.) Nice little touches here, and of course the the music is a blast, love the slide work.

...oohhh VERMONT. . . such a great state Be careful of those cows, I lived once in a small house right by a cowpasture. In the pasture was the shed where I had my firewood-U know the young cows which haven't gotten calfs yet yearlings?donno the name in english but they can be very unpredictable ! I never had a problem with'm though. Met a boyfriend that spring(this is waze back when I was 22) who wasn't used to that kind of life....it was a blast when he got the firewood....VERY FAST - he ran & the young cows after....lmao

...this piece is the 3rd of a suite of 4...I'd really love to call it the "Clem Kadiddlehopper Suite"...all the pieces have that bucolic feel...but am concerned about copyright infringement...so I've gotta get off that train of thought and think of something else...

Thanks for coming by...so many cool tunes around and I really appreciate that you'd take out the time.

What Curry Said
The ambience on this is so well done and so amusing in it's own right (you should have a 'no beverages' warning on this one. I almost cleaned my monitor when Fran got called to the security tent) that I'd love you to upload a studio version as well. I love that beautiful harmonic at the end. It's such a nice recording and the guitar sounds just gorgeous.

The whole package is fab. I just want it both ways.

guitapick said 255 days ago
Tsk, tsk, tsk...
...want it ALL do you?

No problem...

It is a nice sound, isn't it? The last thing I was thinking of getting when I ran into it at Mandolin Brothers...the sound grabbed me...

I'll let you know when I post the studio version...that's the way I was going to post it at first 'till I got wind of the Woodstock festival...just couldn't resist this...

Thanks, Lisa...

and the National sounds terrific, I played a few of them at Aritsian Guitars near nashville and they are loads of fun and it really seems that you feel the same way, the way you play.

Hey , I heard that rooster in there too :) Nice subtle sound there during the playing ! Cool

Fun!

Way to go gp!

guitapick said 221 days ago
My only kick...
...about the Radiotone is that the tone's best with medium and heavy gauge strings. Gets tough when I take off the slide. I know that wouldn't bother you very much, as you're used to the heavies...but I'm mostly a classical player...nylon strings...but the sound makes it more than worth the "extra effort"...

Thx for the DL
Fingerstyle and slide... two great tastes in one confection. The crowd obviously digs it. Stay dry, man, and thanks for the download. It's hard to believe this is one guitar track - what tuning ya got here? I'm pretty awestruck by the clean attack. Pitch is fine... but if you want pitch control, GB's had it since 2006, right?

guitapick said 250 days ago
Hey...
...glad you dropped by. I'm in a G tuning. Using steel National fingerpicks and a plastic Pearse thumbpick.

GB's pitch correction is only for the virtual instruments (as far as I know, at least). Realized it wouldn't matter, anyway, though. If I correct a spot, then all the notes will go up or down. Not just the one I'm looking at. Oh well...

Slippin' and a slidin'...

Funny comments, Bob. Computer music is just a gas.

Am I in Hawaii? Girls doing a hula? Give me some more coconut milk.

Great technique and imagination. Love the EQ on this tune.

And I'm glad to see someone else besides me is still using a G4. Mine just won't die, so I can't buy a new one just yet.

Excellent post, Bob.

And thanks for the favor you did for me yesterday.

John

"Oh we're goin'...
...to the Hukilau...Huki-huki-huki-huki-huki-hukilau"
(we sang that in a 2nd grade assembly I was in as a kid)

I've been trying to decide whether to put this or a straight version on my cd. Last nite I made a version with guitar, crickets, and rooster (no vox or crowd). Not as funny...but it gives that added dimension of being outside which I really love in this. Think I'm going to go with that version. I tried adding the crowd noise, too...but it sounded "fake" without the vox that made it into a goof.

Thanks for the nice comments, John. The eq does work nicely on this tune...but I really didn't do much with it. Most of what you're hearing's the guitar. It's got a great, great, sparkling tone.

And, yeah: the G4's a workhorse (watch: it'll crash tonite). Got the swivel screen. Added RAM and all...works fine, though I might start using my wife's new MacBook Pro for the portability factor. I like the acoustics in the bathroom...

Gave me lots of pleasure writing that review for your cd. Easy to do, too. It's a great cd.

fabulous slide work, my friend! great recording again! is this one take? (ie. your holding down the bass line while doing the slide thing?) impressive! what tuning?

guitapick said 166 days ago
Well...
...it WAS a live performance, after all...so of course it's one take...

;)

Actually: Almost all of it's the first take...but I did a second in order to "repair" a 2 second "blip" somewhere in the tune. The bass/mid/treble lines are all one track, though. Play it live all the time. G tuning: DGDGBD

Thanks for the pat on the back. I'll be putting this tune without the crowd noise/"vox" on my cd. I'm leaving the crickets and rooster on there 'cuz they provide an extra dimension which is cool.
