Description A friend of mine wrote this and I mastered it for him. He doesn't have an account so leave him some comments to read!

WOW - this is fantastic! I'd really call this a classical piece of music - an excellent one. You've got some very fine orchestration chops - really really impressive! Good work!

Your friend
has great orchestration skills and is a fine composer. This is really well done. The mastering is great too.

Definitely cinematic in scope
Nice flowing piece of music. I like the ebb & flow of this, and you can never go wrong with Celesta, tubular bells, and brass :-) Interesting faux-ending there, unexpectedly nice to have the ending crescendo followed by a light string post-ending. My only critique is that (as is often the case) the brass is a little thin sounding. This may be something you can fix with some careful equalization, or adding expression-curves on some notes, or it may be necessary for him to re-orchestrate a bit of this to have some low brass in spots to add growl (e.g. low trombone or tuba crescendos underneath the trumpets and french horns.) Getting the brasses and strings to sound realistic is a really tricky business... Overall he gave you some great material, and sounds like you did a good job tweaking it.

So did he ship you a MIDI file, and you rendered it in GB/Logic? Or did he send you a pre-recorded audio file? It would be helpful to know what software and instruments were used to do this.

Drakonis

Thanks for your input!
I was giving a midi file to work with. The samples are from the East West Quantum Leap Gold library.
