sounds so high and just speedy !!
thnx alot my friend for joinin and let us
all enjoyed this great groove !!

Ibstrat said 260 days ago
Thanks
for the cool idea Feter!

lengold said 260 days ago
Great
artistry and a wonderful listen too. I don't think you could play badly if someone paid you to Mark.
Cheers
Len

Ibstrat said 260 days ago
I'd certainly
be willing to try!For the small sum of $100 I could send you something absolutely horrendous!

lengold said 260 days ago
OK
You're on - send me your bank details.
Cheers
Len

DWL said 260 days ago
And then you went on stage
and wowed them :-)

Very nice as always.

Peace man.

Cheers

Dick

Ibstrat said 260 days ago
I dig
your stuff man.Groovy.

aclarke said 260 days ago
What to say....
you have what the kids refer to as "mad skills". You sure this wasn't just one guitarist... whose trip happened to peak halfway through this warmup?

Great playing- as per your norm!

Ibstrat said 260 days ago
The
2 guys I am emulating I think played back to back at Woodstock. Thanks for the comment!

Ejh said 260 days ago
Ladies and gentlemen...
...let's give it up for the only guitarist who played a chord with a number in it at Woodstock...

And Mark, I'm still waiting for that definitive version of 'Listen To The Flower People' that I know you have in you...

Ed

Ibstrat said 260 days ago
Dig it
man-I've seen Jerry play some far out chords.Like once during "Dark Star" I swear I saw him play a chord using all 4 fingers of his left hand!Actually at one point it looked like he was using 6 fingers.Like really far out.

bud said 260 days ago
Great idea - not surprising from you
even better execution. Love it when Deal comes together - one of my faves. Never realized you were such a head.

Ibstrat said 259 days ago
Nice to know
that there is another Dead Head here.I'm glad that you didn't point out that the 1st performance of "Deal" wasn't until June 3rd 1971 10:53pm at the Roseland Ballroom.

bud said 257 days ago
1967 at 11:22
at the Fillmore Jerry slipped the Deal lick into the jam at the end of Born Cross-Eyed into Caution - so you're OK.

Ibstrat said 254 days ago
Wait a minute man!
Jerry never played that lick in Born cross-eyed! You must be thinking of Alligator!

MarkHolbrook said 260 days ago
This song is so not far from the truth...
I didn't make it to woodstock but friends did and they said that often hearing the primary stage artist was tough because of the jammin going on all over the place!

Sweet guitar work and I agree... probably even if we coughed up the $100 you'd still turn in something worth posting here on MJ

Ibstrat said 259 days ago
I think
I have a great idea- a website that sells bad guitar music!

magnatone said 260 days ago
Woodstock Warmup
You are the MAN! Your guitar playing just blows me away Mark! The only crime is that you weren't ON the stage - oh how I'd love to have you on that incredible Woodstock triple album.

Ibstrat said 259 days ago
Well
at the time I didn't even play the guitar.I would have gotten booed off the stage playing "Home on the Range" on the clarinet!

Kenta_and_Linda_Rocks_together said 259 days ago
Your Guitar
Your Guitar playing make me stoned our stunned... Wow this is so cool.
I'm so impress.

Ibstrat said 259 days ago
Ha ha
I hope you didn't get too stoned=I don't want to do anything illegal!

davisamerica said 259 days ago
lol mark
man this rocks .... sorry i'll kitty up with len on this ....do not believe your fingers would let you approach "horrendous" with out a major cramp of protest ... just coolx2!

Ibstrat said 259 days ago
I think I have
a title for my next song-"Horrendous".Thanks very much for the comment.

said 259 days ago
Amazing.

Hi
this was superb to listen to wow your guitar playing blew me away so
sweeet. I am still learning to play mine. Thank you so much for sharing this really good sound. You are so talented I could listen to this all day as well. I am going to download your song to my ipod for sure.

Peace Dee.

Ibstrat said 259 days ago
Thanks
very much.Great that you are learning guitar. If you are not taking lessons I'd recommend trying to find a teacher.Just try to find someone who doesn't force you to play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star from beginner book #1!

J.A.Stewart said 259 days ago
Classically '60s
Like a smorgasbord of '60s feels and licks, man. It's like... ooo... whoah, man... are you melting? lol

--- Joe

Ibstrat said 259 days ago
I don't
know man- but your eyes.... they look like rectangles! Far out.

Moviz said 259 days ago
So...
This is just the warm up??? Sounds pretty close to the main event to me. I could listen all day to this sound, regards M

Ibstrat said 258 days ago
Well
you might get tired of that E chord after 5 or 6 hours!

guitapick said 259 days ago
2nd guitar...
...Country Joe and the Fish comes to mind...except much, much better on the strings...

Cool stuff, Mark...excellently played...

Ibstrat said 258 days ago
Bud
determined the identity of the 2nd guitarist- I probably should have tried to mimic him better!

ValleyPastor said 259 days ago
Really nice!
. . . but I see you got a Woodstock ratings bomb. Did my part to fix it.

This sounds very Credence Clearwater Revival, so fits real good. Thanks for posting.

Ibstrat said 258 days ago
Thanks
for trying to un-bomb me.It doesn't deserve super high ratings anyway.I only spent about1/2 hr on it!(You are correct with the 1st guitarist being John Fogerty.)

ziti said 259 days ago
great stuff
as always.

I look forward!!

you are a master player

deepest bows

z

Ibstrat said 258 days ago
How
many times do I have to tell you-I prefer to be called Maestro! What's that chord you are playing in the photo-is that an Eb demented 7 sustained?

peacepiano said 259 days ago
Woodstock
You have the sound down! Great sound.

Thanks
Bill

Ibstrat said 258 days ago
Thanks for
checking it out!

sloparts said 259 days ago
Do I detect a person with M.P.D.
Oh yeah that right, it's only Mark. Say, I have a question for you Mark. What the name of the other personality you have living in your head, and does he also play guitar?

Well I guess that's really two questions but what the heck, I'm with the press.

Great licks as always Mark and you make it look so easy. Kudos my friend

ed

Ibstrat said 258 days ago
Well
in this case I was trying to split off into John and Jerry (Fogerty and Garcia)I may have gotten sidetracked with a little Chet,Charlie,Ibstrat and that guy-I forget his name-who keeps playing wrong notes.

said 259 days ago
Nice interplay
Neat idea, but this is ready for the stage!

Ibstrat said 258 days ago
I appreciate
your listening to my fairly aimless noodling.I think at one point I may have played an original lick!

Mcboy said 259 days ago
love that
sound.....yes i do.....danny gatton warming up......limbering those fingers before they go to the races...hehhehhe....nice..very very nice.....

Ibstrat said 258 days ago
In the last
few songs I've been compared to Danny Gatton,Robben Ford,Pat Metheny, and Duane Allman. If I was that good....maybe if I practice for 75 years or so.There is one guy I have heard who actually is that good- calls himself Mcboy...refuses to reveal his true identity...

ledebutant said 258 days ago
Groovy
Wow, what a great idea and what I love so much about this is just the feel of the whole thing. Guitar teachers should play this for their students to show them that the vibe and what you put of yourself into what you play is as important (or more important) than the notes you play. This has flava, which is not a very Woodstockian term, but so what? :-)

Ibstrat said 258 days ago
Thanks
Glad you liked the song.I always record in straight thru takes-I left in a bunch of mistakes, but I didn't do it over.I was supposed to be stoned!

Jim Bouchard said 258 days ago
Maybe Tony Joe White was there?
I seem to hear a bit of Polk Salad Annie in that intro...but then John Fogerty did tap into that vibe a lot.
Is this a strat? Jerry in his strat stage?
...no matter; great stuff!

Ibstrat said 258 days ago
I
had to look up Tony Joe White. Some how I missed out on him.Polk salad Annie is a fun song.I was thinking of CCR songs like "Green River" where he plonks on the low E string while playing a riff.I meant to quote "Suzy Q" but I forgot. The guitar is an old Ibanez Strat copy from the 70's.(There's a picture of it on my song Silver Minor)I have this bizarre problem with my left hand-I am only able to play this one guitar.I hurt it years ago and had to stop playing for over a year. When I started playing again I somehow got used to this guitar.Any attempt to play a different guitar, even with the same strings, etc. causes a very nasty pain.I am told that it's a nerve condition called RSD.Can't seem to find anyone with these same symptoms though! Thanks for commenting on my song.I really enjoy your music.

Vic Holman said 258 days ago
stoned but groovy
has anyone said groovy yet?

I'm digging some of the CCR references here. (they never made it on the film)

swampy and jazzy. and the crowd was in muddy waters!

Ibstrat said 258 days ago
Someone
must have a film of the whole concert somewhere.I saw the full Hendrix set which was very cool.I'm pretty sure CCR and the Dead played. Thanks for checking out my song!

said 257 days ago
mark is
writing a rock song. nice. i might be rubbing off on you.... as always your style is infectious. fingerstyle needs a comeback kid. you are that posterboy. what is your tuning? is it standard, or do you utilize an open key for your style? i am an uneducated metalhead who only recently found dropped tunings, so any help you can give me to further culture my ways would be appreciated.
Allen

Ibstrat said 257 days ago
Don't
know if i wrote it-just messed around in E for awhile then improvised over a stolen chord progression. It's standard tuning-I guess I've worked alot on keeping a steady thumb while playing something else on the high strings. There's a jazz guy named Lenny Breau that I like alot that's really good at that.Look him up on youtube-he's amazing.Don't worry about being "uneducated".You have an amazing ear that's all you need.By the way how did you develop your picking? Are you angling the pick or playing straight on the string?

Doug Somers said 246 days ago
These guys really know how to play!
Are you sure they were at Woodstock? Marvelous control of the instrument - it sings in your hands. Brilliant!

All the best,
