Description This song is basically about personal loss. I originally arranged it as a pop tune, but never liked it. Recently however, I completely redid it in a jazz style, (which was a surprise to me believe it or not) but I think it works miles better. Also, since I refused to sing this one myself, SlimGirlFat very kindly offered to lend her vocal talents to the song. I hope you enjoy. Constructive criticism is welcome as always.

Lots to like!
Where to start? The lyric arrangement is very nice, with some interesting phrases and melodies. The piano score is also good, with tasteful progressions and flourishes. In all its terific bit of songwriting.

Slim, this is another excellent vocal performance. This may be the most stripped-down recording I've heard from you in terms of absence of effects/harmonies. Very upfront and "exposed," and very well done.

If I had one suggestion it my be that the song is too consistent. I'd like to hear some more accentuated moments, like when you move into the bridge. That's probably my favorite spot, that transition. It might just be a matter of adding some unexpected chord changes to accentuate the lyrics here and there. Still, great song! (7-8-6-7)

I echo chikoppi's comments...
Just reread what he said. SGF, you should do more vocals
in this "almost live" setting. You have a whole other
plateau waiting for you. Daphna, well composed song,
with such feeling. The simplicity of this piece comes
across as just right. Taking chikoppi's comments into
account, this can be a great song.

Great Union...
of MacJammer talent. SGF's voice suits this style so
perfectly. Put me smak dab in the middle of that smoky
piano lounge. Well Done. 8788

Two different songs
They are both great, in their own way.

But the melody is trying to say too much for the tune. It's
beautifully performed - SGF, what can I say - but it's
kinda... too many words, Mozart.

I love the piano part, and when the strings came in I
nearly fainted with pleasure..

But the vocal line is just wrong, I'm afraid. It belongs in a
different song altogether.

Having said that, SGF makes a really good go at it. And I
like her voice without effects. She should do more of it.

There and back
There's something in your voice that is wistfully
reminiscent of Petula Clark's "Downtown" and "Sign
of the Times". Those songs, a now this one,
make me sigh and think of my earliest unattainable
heartthrobs. The sign of a good song -- the
evocation of deep feeling.

Dusty Springfield
Got a bit of. Can definitely hear the Petula Clark thing too.
The strings in the middle are excellent and the piano is
just plain cool throughout. Well done you two.

your voice
i love the honesty in your voice. totally unadulterated. i'm
glad you don't really use effects on it. is the piano live or
an apple piano? man, do i have pianist envy. i love when
you double your voice. keep 'em coming.

your voice
thanks for your comments Cantor. I played the piano part, and another
macjammer - SlimGirlFat - sang it.

glad i found you
wonderfully beautiful and expressive. Piano
accompanyment was better than perfect. Vocal melodies
are right one. Especially the faster wordier sections. They
compiment what you're saying and add so much to the
jazzy nature of this piece. The simple orchestration really
sets a nice mood. oh yeah...and the doubled vox came at
the perfect moment. thanks.

This a very nice song
Man when ever I see that name "daphna", I always know
I'm getting something special. To me there is a lot of
quality in what you do. Not just of course on this special
tune but all your stuff.
