Description I tried out one of Logic Studios project templates and all I got was this silly song.
Lyrics Another year another song
I’d like to write again it’s been so long
Things have managed to set my ways
And after all I’ve nothing to say...

So bear with me and I’ll write this tune
It may get finished in the month of June
I’m in no hurry but I miss it a lot
And I find my tongue tied in a knot...

Forget there’s royalties if I hit top
I have no plans and I’ll never stop
People may think that I haven’t a clue
Would I care? there’s nothing I’d rather do...

Another year another song
I’d like to write again it’s been so long
Things have managed to set my ways
And after all I’ve nothing to say...

seriou-silly
i think this came out great.
I agree with what Tom mentions of a James Taylor sound. with a touch of a Byrd flavor on the electric.

cool

Very nice
A great warm sound, with a lovely vocal, and a sweet guitar sound. You have a terrific voice, and this song highlights it well. Nicely done. Peace.

I have to agree
With all the others that this has James Taylor all over it. This song really suits you and the guitar accompaniment is just delicious. Love your clear warm voice and the song sentiment.... excellent lyrics, regards M

This is reminiscent of James Taylor to me too, which is the highest of compliments in my book. Your voice has a gentle touch to it that makes it a joy to listen to. Great instrumentation - just ONE SWELL SONG!!

Very nice piece
I don't sense much silliness as I do sense self assuredness taking a simple melody and creating a lovely little piece of originality.Well stated lyrical work and much enjoyed this post.

Blessings,

Well...
...can I ever relate to THOSE lyrics...

Sitting here trying to get myself going with Logic Studio, too... Just said to my wife, "I've really got to take some time off to record... The weekend comes and there's too much else to do..."

I really like the chiming tone you're getting on the guitar here, John. And even though this is a learning exercise and maybe you're using the template and trying out different sounds to see what they sound like, it still ends up coming out smooth and tight and sounding pretty much like a song to me...

And kudos to you, as you try out the multitudinous abilities of Logic 8, that you let this stay simple...

Nice!
Hi John,

Love the harmonics you are getting out of your guitar! The lyrics speak to me as I'm sure they do to so many other musicians. My only gripe is that the piano seems a little loud in the mix and the snare seems a little too far back in the mix (I guess that was two gripes, sorry). Your production is still top notch and I have learned a lot from you. Keep up the great work John!

Nothing...
to dislike in this tune, John. The down home, personal quality... the simple arrangement... all very solid and appealing. Your vocal is great.
