Description David Hicks, a.k.a Prisoner No.002 at Guantanamo Bay is back in Australia. he got home by a plea bargain where he admitted he was a terrorist member of Al Qaeda. Now, he's back on the streets after 5 years at Camp X-Ray.

Amazingly - in one of those dumb ironies - he's now staying in Sydney in the Suburb next to my place, shopping at my local supabarn supermarket. The press found out and splashed his face across the front pages.

Yeah, I know. It's weird. So weird in fact I couldn't resist writing this song. I wanted to sound like a drunk bloke singing this song like karaoke. Also, I'm trying to cop a feel off David Lindley and El-Rayo-X in reference to Camp X-Ray.
Lyrics Verse 1.
They say there’ s a terrorist in my neighborhood
He used to be in Camp X-Ray
He spent five years in an orange suit
down in Guantanamo Bay
They sent him back to his homeland
North of Adelaide
Now he’s hanging in my town shopping up at supabarn
trying to hide away

Chorus
Terrorist, hanging in my neighborhood
Terrorist, living in my neighborhood

Verse 2.
He used be friends with Omar
With Mohammed’s words in his heart
and the guys in the cave in Tora Bora
said he could go hang with Osama
meanwhile the boys from Al Qaeda
brought down the Twin Towers
Then the American bombs came raining down
Like somebody’s golden showers

Chorus
Terrorist, hanging in my neighborhood
Terrorist, living in my neighborhood

Verse 3
Major Mike was a lawyer man,
working for the US marines
They made him defend the worst man around
(said) he’s like nothing he’s ever seen.
All Mike saw was a weasel caught
a long, long way from home
but the powers that be and the judiciary
wanted a bargain for his plea.

Chorus
Terrorist, hanging in my neighborhood
Terrorist, living in my neighborhood

Verse 4.
There’ s a terrorist hanging in my neighborhood
He used to be in Camp X-Ray
He spent five years in an orange suit
down in Guantanamo Bay
They sent him back to his homeland
North of Adelaide
Now he’s hanging in my town shopping up at supabarn
trying to find a new way

Chorus
Terrorist, hanging in my neighborhood
Terrorist, living in my neighborhood

Now this song is good-
with it's dark and scathing humour. You know I only thought that this sort of thing happened in the UK but there we are I was wrong. Really good and entertaining piece of music and catchy as well. I think it would have been good to have had some more voices joining in on the chorus but nevertheless it's fine as it stands. Very Zappaesque........

Thanks Woofer3
It's so good to hear from you, and it's nice to see you in this neck of the woods too.

Yeah, there was a lot to be desired with the conduct of the Australian Attorney general's position concerning David Hicks' detention in Camp X-Ray. At least the UK bargained to take their citizens back to the UK. The Australian Government simply stalled and stalled and stalled until it became electorally untenable.

It's good to hear from you too,
I really do like this piece of music. I was surprised about Australia in this particular instance, as to me, they have always seemed to have more backbone that us in this department. I think the UK always seems to be to concerned with what people think.

Still never mind, - a brilliant song, I think there are too many love songs in the world today!![not that there's anything wrong with love] and you have shifted balance somewhat. Your songs are not only entertaining but educational as well.

Best wishes,

John.

Terrorist Karaoke
You sound like Shane MacGowan from the Pogues, but drunker! Some unexpected clever lyrics really got a laugh out of me.

This is really a charming piece.

"Thank you"
