Wild is the Wind "Wild Is the Wind" is a song written by Dimitri Tiompkin and Ned Washington. The track was originally recorded by Johnny Mathis for the 1957 film Wild Is the Wind. The song was very popular and was one of five songs nominated for an Academy Award; it was sung by Johnny Mathis at the March 1958 Oscar presentations. It was later covered by Nina Simone on the album Wild Is The Wind (1966). David Bowie recorded a version of it in 1976 for his album Station to Station. Bowie was an admirer of Simone%u2019s style, and after meeting her in Los Angeles was inspired to record the song for his album. source: Wikipedia |

Alannah this is really something to be proud of. Your great vocal performance fits perfectly into this haunting soundtrack. Oddly enough I have never heard this song before, that I can remember. I can't imagine it being done any better than this. Excellent |

Smokey Sounds like you are singing in one of those smoke filled lounges. Your voice controls the whole tune beautifully. Mr Mysterious provides just enough backing to make the sound complete. Great stuff. Thanks Bill |

Fantastic! Goes on my "Favorite Love songs" playlist immediately! Since Mystified seems to have pegged it as "not public domain" I made sure to download before it goes to magnetic heaven. You definitely have one of the best voices on the site, and there are a LOT of good ones here. Still trying to find another tune worthy of your singing all over. |

really great! I'm really unfamiliar with the oldie, but this seems to be an original take on it, you seem to own this song, such a nice recording and of course your expressive voice puts it across with a really great emotional (but under control) performance. Sounds at times like kd lang... |

Alannah... I had the distinct privilege of being the first one to experience this magical song when you sent it to me shortly after you finished it like weeks (or is it months?) ago. I told you then that it was wonderful and your voice never sounded better. I had it in my ipod since that time, believe it or not. Glad that you have posted this for others to enjoy it as well!! Listening to it again here at Macjams just affirms my first assessment. This is your most awesome work thus far, in my opinion. |

I hear... a lot more control in your voice. For a tune like this, that's a good thing. Yes, this is your best so far. Lovin the detuned moog that shows up here and there. Nice work. |

Wow! Have always loved this song - mainly through David Bowie's version - this sounds amazing Alannah. I think this is one of the best things you've done in a very long while. You have a great set of pipes (and the backing's perfect for what you've done). I especially like hearing you in this controlled context - wonderful last note/s. Terrific recording and mix too. Love it! Neil |

Portishead? Interesting and beautifully mysterious musical backdrop... and and so wonderfully sung. Definitely one of your best performances here. Although I love your over-the-top stuff, this is much more professionally controlled sounding, not in a sterile way, but in a confident strident way. Excellent. I only noticed one minor voice-overlap glitch in the edit, but it was so tiny it didn't really detract. So glad you treat us with this talent, Alannah, and special kudos to Mr. M. ttfn, Drakonis |

You've really progressed, especially with this one. Really elegant, feminine, sensitive and lovely. I like so much I'm taking it home with me. Don't be to concerned about your own musical bed. You make up the bed of others very well. Rember: It is the singer not the song. Mic Jagger sigh.......... |

control freak Those mandolins - they're so touchy : > Your passionate, yet controlled singing does a superb job of bringing out the pathos of this song of longing. Your voice is a nice match for the music - I can see why you wanted to record it. I have always thought the odd thing about this song is it flows opposite of what we think of as being wild - it is slow and controlled. But that is what heightens the tension. It is the struggle over maintaining control that makes it difficult - and yet so powerfully meaningful. You have pulled it off! |

pathos with an undercurrent this is an incredible vocal performance... wow Alannah... this shows such an incredible range, not just in register but emotion... the best singers are actors, and you've really convinced me hear.... you've also capture such an etherial out of body vibe... and all along there is this pent up undercurrent of passion... stunning and compelling on several levels |

Naked responsiveness Such a restrained European sound, and yet it is also as if you hold nothing back, have no self-consciousness, are letting you naked almost improvised lines float wherever the moment takes you. A unique sensuality/responsiveness audio concept. Great concept track. Like experimental jazz ballad. I wish more downtempo carried forward those jazz blues roots. Really good. |

Another amazing MJ artist I have seen you post on a few other songs I have listened to, so I decided to check out your page. This is one of the most hauntingly beautiful productions I have heard in a long time. One of the best pieces I have come across at MJ. The bkg music is superb and your vocals are sublime - I don't think anyone has used that adjective yet. Great production on the vocals. Its really interesting that you don't have GB but can still make music. |
