Description The backing music to this rendition was created by Mr. Mysterious. I was unable to determine whether this oldie was a public domain song or not ... and was unable to find any difinitive results .... but I wanted to post it so badly ... Mr. Mysterious gave me permission to use his beautiful rendition of the tune and I added my vocal to it .... so I post it not knowing whether or not I may be asked to remove it. All comments are so greatly appreciated and desired.
Lyrics Love me, love me, love me, say you do
Let me fly away with you
For my love is like the wind, and wild is the wind
Wild is the wind
Give me more than one caress, satisfy this hungriness
Let the wind blow through your heart
For wild is the wind, wild is the wind

CHORUS
You touch me, I hear the sound of mandolins
You kiss me
With your kiss my life begins
You're spring to me, all things to me
Don't you know, you're life itself!

Like the leaf clings to the tree,
Oh, my darling, cling to me
For we're like creatures of the wind, and wild is the wind
Wild is the wind

CHORUS

Like the leaf clings to the tree,
Oh, my darling, cling to me
For we're like creatures in the wind, and wild is the wind

Wild is the wind (4 times)

Ziti ....
... truly ... you honour me way too much .... although I accept the flattery (blush) .... I was so inspired by this rendition that I couldn't keep my nasty little vocal off of it .... I only hope that I do your words TRUE by truly growing and getting better ... my recording and mixing skills are still lacking that "something" .... my singing skills ... well ... I have YET to record "what I do live" .... that's all I'll say on the subject ... but THANKS SO much for dropping by my tune after having such a HUGE nigh yourself my friend ... I actually wanted to BE THERE but lacking a passport and the timing made it a little difficult for me ... but ONE DAY my friend ... ONE DAY ....

dreamy and heavenly feel , i love your voice very catchy , i dont know how did you do it , did you sing and then u add the music or you start with music and then you add your voice , ether way its fantastic song , thank you for sharing

Alannah said 270 days ago
Thank you so much ....
... actually I first heard this tune by (Mr. Mysterious) which he created for another singer. But I was so MOVED and inspired by the piece that I BEGGED Him to send me the instrumental and allow me to sing on it ... which he graciously did .... for this I am grateful because I LUV this song to death ! Thank you for your gracious comments.

Wild is the Wind
"Wild Is the Wind" is a song written by Dimitri Tiompkin and Ned Washington. The track was originally recorded by Johnny Mathis for the 1957 film Wild Is the Wind. The song was very popular and was one of five songs nominated for an Academy Award; it was sung by Johnny Mathis at the March 1958 Oscar presentations. It was later covered by Nina Simone on the album Wild Is The Wind (1966). David Bowie recorded a version of it in 1976 for his album Station to Station. Bowie was an admirer of Simone%u2019s style, and after meeting her in Los Angeles was inspired to record the song for his album.

Alannah this is really
something to be proud of. Your great vocal performance fits perfectly into this haunting soundtrack. Oddly enough I have never heard this song before, that I can remember. I can't imagine it being done any better than this.

Excellent

Goes on my "Favorite Love songs" playlist immediately! Since Mystified seems to have pegged it as "not public domain" I made sure to download before it goes to magnetic heaven.

You definitely have one of the best voices on the site, and there are a LOT of good ones here.

Still trying to find another tune worthy of your singing all over.

really great!
I'm really unfamiliar with the oldie, but this seems to be an original take on it, you seem to own this song, such a nice recording and of course your expressive voice puts it across with a really great emotional (but under control) performance. Sounds at times like kd lang...

Alannah said 269 days ago
I used .....
... to listen to a lot of KD Lang back in the day (constant craving) may have been one of my inspirations .... although my original genre of preference was rock - I am finding I am quite enjoying the "crooning" and bluesy types of tunes that I have seemed to have done more of here at MJs. Thanks for the listen and comment ....

Leon said 269 days ago
Alannah...
I had the distinct privilege of being the first one to experience this magical song when you sent it to me shortly after you finished it like weeks (or is it months?) ago. I told you then that it was wonderful and your voice never sounded better. I had it in my ipod since that time, believe it or not. Glad that you have posted this for others to enjoy it as well!! Listening to it again here at Macjams just affirms my first assessment. This is your most awesome work thus far, in my opinion.

Alannah said 269 days ago
Thanks Leon ....
I always enjoy it when you visit one of my tunes .... knowing that you are a perfectionist with the tunes that you post, any praise I receive from you is high praise indeed ! (this might be slightly different from your IPod version ... I know I tinkered with one part a few times until I felt satusfied) ..... hope to catch you in chat sometime!

Alannah, beautious. Mellow and soulful and for me, gripping :-) The sound bed was brilliant and you vocal sounds heavenly.

Alannah said 269 days ago
Yes ....
.. the sound bed was truly brilliant - and I can't seem to keep myself off of those beautiful brilliant pieces of music that other MJers create .... I wish I had the ability to create my own music bed ... but alas I am satisfied to sing on the fabulous creations of those more talented than myself .... thanks for stopping by and commenting -appreciated.

timothy devine said 269 days ago
Hi Alannah
Let me say that this is just awe inspiring.
Your vocal is quality. And so perfect is the bed, I can see why you couldn't keep away from it...
Just great to here you singing in your element. That dark spooky bed is just so u.
You rule girl...you just pour it on/ you make it sound so easy.
tim

Alannah said 269 days ago
heh heh ....
.... pouring it on ... like Maple Syrup .... I'm glad that you heard what I was hoping to achieve with this song .... plenty of euphenisms to choose from .... melting butter .... warm honey ... heh heh .... (does this mean I'm sappy??) ... thanks Tim - I always appreciate your support and kind words! Keeps me wantin to sing another one!

Bad Smells said 269 days ago
I hear...
a lot more control in your voice. For a tune like this, that's a good thing.
Yes, this is your best so far.
Lovin the detuned moog that shows up here and there.
Nice work.

Alannah said 269 days ago
Yes .....
... it's the control and the timing that I struggle with ... I just wanna belt em out ... and then it all comes out wrong .... so it's a good thing when I can find a song which forces me to test my ability to control .... and be patient a little (usually I start singing way ahead of the music)

jiguma said 269 days ago
Wow!
Have always loved this song - mainly through David Bowie's version - this sounds amazing Alannah. I think this is one of the best things you've done in a very long while.

You have a great set of pipes (and the backing's perfect for what you've done). I especially like hearing you in this controlled context - wonderful last note/s.

Terrific recording and mix too.

Love it!
Neil

Alannah said 268 days ago
Thanks Neil ....
.... I struggled with trying to get just the right amount of "haunting" into it ... sometimes I tend to get ahead of myself and have a hard time just letting the words flow .... this truly was an exercise in control on my part ....

Moviz said 269 days ago
Such
a sensitive feel for emotion in your vocals always. Your voice IS like an instrument and you play it so well in this very emotional song.... you really do it justice and the accompaniment too is blended perfectly, regards M

Portishead?
Interesting and beautifully mysterious musical backdrop... and and so wonderfully sung. Definitely one of your best performances here. Although I love your over-the-top stuff, this is much more professionally controlled sounding, not in a sterile way, but in a confident strident way. Excellent. I only noticed one minor voice-overlap glitch in the edit, but it was so tiny it didn't really detract. So glad you treat us with this talent, Alannah, and special kudos to Mr. M.
ttfn,
Drakonis

Warren Smith said 265 days ago
control freak
Those mandolins - they're so touchy : >

Your passionate, yet controlled singing does a superb job of bringing out the pathos of this song of longing. Your voice is a nice match for the music - I can see why you wanted to record it.

I have always thought the odd thing about this song is it flows opposite of what we think of as being wild - it is slow and controlled. But that is what heightens the tension. It is the struggle over maintaining control that makes it difficult - and yet so powerfully meaningful. You have pulled it off!

Alannah said 264 days ago
One man's mandolin .....
... well being "wild" with respect to the "wind" ... well maybe "unpredictable" as wind has been known to be .... OK what the heck am I talking about then ...... thanks for the listen and comments !!

Scott Carmichael said 265 days ago
pathos with an undercurrent
this is an incredible vocal performance... wow Alannah... this shows such an incredible range, not just in register but emotion... the best singers are actors, and you've really convinced me hear.... you've also capture such an etherial out of body vibe... and all along there is this pent up undercurrent of passion...

stunning and compelling on several levels

Alannah said 264 days ago
For me ....
.. there is nothing quite like a "passionate" song ... I hope I can do future tunes justice after reading all the glorious comments on this one .... thanks for your kind words .... (and this one didn't even have panties in it) ....

TobinMueller said 264 days ago
Naked responsiveness
Such a restrained European sound, and yet it is also as if you hold nothing back, have no self-consciousness, are letting you naked almost improvised lines float wherever the moment takes you. A unique sensuality/responsiveness audio concept. Great concept track. Like experimental jazz ballad. I wish more downtempo carried forward those jazz blues roots. Really good.

Alannah said 264 days ago
I too ....
...like a tune that has a bluesy/jazz sound to it .... I think I made a reference in a comment above about the Ella style .... (if only I could do THAT now) .... the European sound hmmmm maybe (Marlena Deitrich?) .... thanks for stopping by and giving this a listen and taking the time to comment ... always good to hear from you!

I have seen you post on a few other songs I have listened to, so I decided to check out your page. This is one of the most hauntingly beautiful productions I have heard in a long time. One of the best pieces I have come across at MJ. The bkg music is superb and your vocals are sublime - I don't think anyone has used that adjective yet. Great production on the vocals.

My home page and My Fav Macjammers list is getting so long I have a problem now scrolling down it myself. Now your song will take pride of place there too. it will be my pleasure.
I also read your bio i found it very interesting.
I have only myself been making my own music, for just overr six months self taught and by ear.

As I cannot read music!
I just play my KB live and if I like the sound I record it then add apple loops. Smile is all apple loops I am intending to record live instruments also soon as i have time. Like everyday and night. As I do already Haha
I have that many takes on that one now- not sure where I am up to
half the time- i do not even know what time of day/night it is.

But the main thing is I absolutely love listenening to to other artist music and collaberations are sooo much fun. hee hee.
And recording my own music.

I also read that you love to listen to this nice song yourself
' Wild' and thought it wierd no it isn't !!!
Its your own unique beautiful sound creation that you also sang like an angel. I like the pic too.

My ' Smile haha has not been off my ipod on repeat for days and nights now. I do not know what it is about that one. But I find it so special. Anyhow Phew I can really talk for all England. Pity I am no singer but Gee you can really sing Girl! Go! Girl! Go!! lol

You also said you found yourself singing along to my - Smile ..haha
it will be my Pleasure if you would like to do a collab. oh I have not written my own bio as yet. Its on all the many pages I have visited as wel. I think this is the longest that I have written. Yawn lol.
Cheers. Peace Dee.
