Man, I am blown away by this This is great. Your vocal performance on this is outstanding - you express the lyrics beautifully, with all those potent images and lines ("I'm so sick of me") The instrumentation is excellent - love the piano, and the percussion is very effective, not overdone or in the way. Spot on Jack, I think you had the original posted at one time. It was powerful then, now it just really moves. You guys did a really fine job here. This song reaches right to the heart. Very compelling.... Well done in all aspects... of all the recent songs about war I don't know that this issue that affects survivors has been addressed... Ugh Heavy hitting, really excellent work here. The music has an almost circus-like feel, an irony in itself... and the part that brought tears was the "Daddy? I love you daddy..." your singing and lyrics pull off the resigned weariness and desperate helplessness, but with a wish for help, that is heartbreaking. And it wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the cold hard facts that this is so prevalent. And worse, that war has been doing this to people for thousands of years... so... there's no sign of let-up. Jack - your originality and inventiveness never cease to amaze me. The emotional message this song carries is so powerful and yet you manage to find a vehicle that delivers it without judgement or prejudice. That's a really rare quality and a special gift that you have. Hats off to michael2 for his contributions - he's an extremely talented generous spirit. I like the bits of orchestration and sound effects and the little gurl's voice works without being too much. A really well crafted tune you got here - and an important message. |

incredible description Sounds sad that there isn't enough help. My daughter is the manager of a social agency in Hayward Ca. and is upset with the government for not giving enough funding for the mentally disturbed that are walking the streets with out any help. Or in other cases very little help. She just received a big promotion to manager. It is interesting to hear how things are operated in these agencies and it always is very pretty. Great pic! Powerful emotional stuff.
Thanks for this touching piece of work. The music and the samples are pretty stunning. The spaciousness of the instruments works well with the mood. The kids voice is a killer.
