Description Michael2, our very own Musical Philanthropist, was kind enough to let me have a shot at the vocals on his recent song Say A Prayer. I was immediately drawn to the song because it's what I would consider my style. I'm not sure my vocals add anything to his cool song, but, here it is.

Michael mixed the song and kept it true to rules of the era. I love the buzzing guitars and the perfect synths.

Thanks Michael!
Lyrics I took the pieces back
and then the scandal went away
i think it's weird she showed up last night
maybe your lonely mood
was rubbing off on me
i'm craving something now but it's no good for me

(chorus)
i'm feeling like i ought to phone you
i'm feeling like i did before
now everything is better
i don't need that life anymore

i think it's time for me
to start looking for a wife
i think it's time for me
to start something brand new
i can't get all caught up
in all your doing now
i don't care about your family anyhow

(chorus)
i'm feeling like i ought to phone you
i'm feeling like i did before
now everything is bitter
i don't need that life anymore
Hardware intel mini mac, m-audio 49e keyboard, MXL USB mic, ibanez bass, ibanez artcore hollow body guitar, line 6 toneport, iMac, Samson mic.

great take on the vox!

Cool Septet (Michael2 5)! Great song as usual, fun lyrics.. really LOVE the melody/harmony. I think the vox are too far back and need to be a little more up front, and the fuzz on some of the guitars is a little buzzy/distracting (doesn't add to the song, just adds noise.) But this is really wonderful sounding structure!

Say A Prayer With Extra Arms
thats a cool rockin colab my friends ..Loved
the vocals work my friend ..the buzz of the fuzz
with the synth voice ...just great !!!!

Peter Bauckham said 272 days ago
Great Song
I rather like those buzzy guitars - but I think the vocals could be a little bit more upfront though - mix sounds great otherwise and the vocals sound good - just a bit quiet.

Really like
the harmonies Bob - they work extremely well. Great lyrics and a very catchy melody (I wonder if the vocals could have been a tad louder).
Obviously a lovely sound bed and production from Michael. All in all another excellent collab.
(Do you know - I hate that 'collaboration' word, it's too long full out and the abb. just doesn't look right - maybe we should think of a new word? Maybe I'm just wandering? Dementia creeping in.)
Cheers
Len

hey
you are perfect for this kind of thing. you know in answer to some of the comments, IMHO the fuzz is essential to this type of music, and the vox should be kind of buried; BUT upon listening to this again,i buried them too much. oh well, you did a great job though. it's all for fun and free anyhow, right?

five_extra_arms said 271 days ago
Fun And Free
Yeah Michael. It was extremely fun and even more free.

Thanks again for making it so easy for me to jump in and sing. I'm always open for another.

Bob Dorsey!
You are like buses! Nothing for ages then all at once.....!

Great addition to your ever growing canon of hot punkoid tunes and collaborative output.

DL'd and loved. Guitar sounds immense, vox fantastic esp the harmonies.

Early REM, hmmm? It's all good, dudes!

Great
Great vocals... They fits to the music.... Great track also... Great to listen to.... Thanks for sharing...

echoroom said 272 days ago
Wha happened?
Mr D, what's happened - your vocals have suddenly improved 1000% - what pills ya taking. This so suits your voice, and the harmonies are EXCELLENT. You sing this very tenderly, beautifully, best I've heard you do... since your last new track. Great opening couplet, and musically... well, M2 is just one of the best writers anywhere, period, so you cant go wrong.

Can i have an albums worth , please???

Diviner said 272 days ago
Brilliant
The music is great and the lyrics fit really well. Very good track and am very impressed. Not my normal genre but still enjoyed.

BTW what is the 'free ambient reverb' and where can you get it?

lavalamp said 272 days ago
busyman
M2 and 5, get work. Loved the buzzing guitar. Would have been perfect if the vocals were up higher, but I think you've realized that by now. But the singing was excellently rockin' good.

Nice drawing Bob. I think you overunderestimate yourself.

Say a prayer with extra armbruster!

Great take Bob
Fun song and you are a fun guy, so it works right off the bat, Kudos to you both! excellent vocals!

said 272 days ago
Heh
I love that drawing, Lol that would look amazing on a real large scale

Vic Holman said 272 days ago
like a glove....
...... 7 to be exact. Bob, your vocals are so 1001% (one more then Steves)
Vocal harmonies are nothing to sneeze at either. Michaels tune obviously is suited to you.

my only complaint is the drawing only has one arm! what's up with that? am I the only one to notice?

nicely
placed synths. I love how everything comes together in the chorus. Almost reminds me of listening to the Cars or something. Nice energy throughout.

Wonderful Synth-Rock. Full of power and energy. What a collab, congrats gents!!

cjdaley said 272 days ago
kind of
a dream team thing for me, so I'm not objective ( as if rock was about objectivity, anyhow).

I really like it, so I share the opinion that the vocals could be a tad louder.

Boy, you're going to break Johnny Mustard Seed's heart for good with that one.

Great!
Very nice work here both of you did. The music is strange with its sound but great as always from you. You have your own signature with that Bob (you know it before!). Mike's vocals were great here .. Enjoyed this cool collab! Thanks for sharing ..

more vocal!!
Great fuzzy guitars, but the vocal needs a boost just to make it perfect. It does have that homemade feel of punk, which is great. Nice tune too. Reminds me a bit of very early Pink Floyd - the Nile Song etc. They were punky before punk...

ManateeChili said 271 days ago
best of the eighties
this song has everything that i like from the late seventies and earlies eighties. the song really does sound like it's almost thirty years old. vocals are low as noted but with the right mix adjustments, this would've been a hit.

i'll put this one on my ipod.

thanks guys.

Yeah, man!
let me say a big big YES to this! It's true the music is really catchy and full of positive energy, but yes, to me your vox add to it a great deal. Your vox sound just as one with tne music, as if the two were born at the same time, and the lyrics are so humorous and and well written. My style, as well (just mean the taste, not the ability)! I'm glad you took the time and chance to come commenting my little tunes, so that I could find you :) :)

guitapick said 270 days ago
Can see...
...that you're into this style...sounds seamless...as is "should be"...a very cool tune...never heard the original...on my way right now. You sound great, Mr. Arms...

love the vocal harmonies. the music is great.
i really like the fuzz, too. i find a lot of times, when the fuzz is so thick, the chords get lost, but not here. very tasty.
in all, a fantastic collab guys!
