Description This song was written when I was 17. I was looking to write a song with the same chord progression in the verse as well as the chorus. This recording is bare. I plan on fattening it up and changing the feel around, but I needed to have some acoustic songs put together to shop to acoustic venues. It's basic, but hopefully they'll get the idea.

The rough part about this song is a few months later Oasis released (What's the Story) Morning Glory and there's a track on there called "She's Electric". This song sounds dangerously close to that one. But in a battle of legality, I'd have no chance.

The vocal performance is annoying. It sounds like I'm nervous and I don't know why I decided to keep that take. Also, I just realized that I look like a total misogynist posting this song and "Wasted On American Girls" back to back. Let me assure you that is not the case at all. These are just examples of my total failure to write Billy Joel's "She's Always a Woman" (lyrically).
Lyrics Woman © 1998

She's testing my patience
She's making me wonder who I really am.
She's ruined my homelife
Or maybe she didn't, but who really cares.
She's a woman
She's a woman
She's a woman, she's mine.

Nobody loves her
Nobody does, with the exception of me.
But I'm losing my temper
I don't know how much longer I can hold on
To this woman
To this woman
She's a woman, she mine

Though I know it's wrong I can't stop from believing
That there's nothing here that could ever
Keep me from leaving.

But I can't rightly tell her
Because she's moving so fast that I can hardly see
And she's not even my type
But I'm not really sure that I have a type
Well she's making me hostile
And I'm not really comfortable living this way
But she's somewhat exciting
But never will I get anything that she does
She's a woman
She's a woman
She's a woman, she mine.

I'm maybe too critical with the vocals, so it's good to hear you enjoyed them. Thanks!

It's great!
Nice all around. Not much fattening required in my opinion.

Your comment about Morning Glory brings back of memory of being in school in about 1977 and I was playing with the Am C with the little pinky thing and working on a song and suddenly Kansas releases Dust in the Wind.

Well there's no doubt they beat me to it as it had to be recorded and pressed to vinyl and all that. But it was erie how close my little song was to that hit. I never finished my version and it would have been different but still it was freaky.

Dust in the Wind
Great story about Dust in the Wind. I'm sure every songwriter has those moments. It's not that I ever thought the Gallagher brothers all the way over in Manchester somehow heard my song and were inspired to lift it. It's just the coincidence. I guess there's only a handful of notes and people are bound to arrange them similarly.

Fatten up
You've got a very good song that should be fattened up, but not too much. I like the bare quality.

Great stuff

Thanks Lava!
It'll do... well, not really. The intention was to shop it to acoustic venues but I haven't gotten off my butt to do that yet. This weekend.... (maybe).

I'm a woman...
...who loves your harmonies! You know how to write and sing and play! As if you didn't know. Love the guitar solo too!

Sweet!

Don't get too used to my guitar solos. They're a rarity as I feel that they should be left up to people who can really pull it off. I'm glad you enjoyed the song, though. Thanks for listening!

Great song!
Give Ringo Star a call, and put some drums to it and you are good to go! Best of luck with your preamp dilemma. I think real drums would be nice for this song.

Ringo
It's the darndest thing... last time I moved I misplaced Ringo's phone number. Oh well, I'll just have someone else do it :).

Thanks for stopping by!
