Description I sent this sloppy demo to Dylan, (not Robert Zimmerman but the French map maker some of you might know) His production skills are amazing. He brought his totally cool spirit and attitude to the mix.
The tune is about a guy from the wrong side of the tracks and a girl running off and having a wild time.

Dylan:production,vox,instruments
buckhorn: writing, vox,instruments
Lyrics PurpleCadillac

Real chords/ Capo 3rd Fret

Intro Eb/C G7/E7 C7/A7 2 times

Verse C7/ A7 C7/A7 addF#

She started going with a boy named Jack
She fell in love with his well muscled back

F7/D7 F7/D7 add G
He got annoyed when she started swinging
C7/A7
Nobody under stood just what was ringing her bell
G7/E7
chorus 1 They had the inclination and they had the time
a purple cadilack and a box of wine
C7/A7
Hell yea

verse 2 They took a ride down by the track
she understood she could never go back
It must have looked like the girl was taken
When the shack went black and Jack started shaking it up
Chorus 2
Hell yea 2 times
Bridge Am/F#m F7/D7

She lives in a black and white dream
The poor boy fell in love with the scheme
Eb/C G7/E7 C7/A7
And she don’t give a damn what Daddy says
Verse3

They started hanging with a boy named Jim
nobody knew what was wrong with him
They kicked him out when he started stinking
no body understood what they were thinking of

Chorus
Hell yea 4 times

Bridge (with spoken words?)

outro Eb/C G7/E7 C7/A7 three times

C7/A7 addF#

Box Of Whine
Great production doesn't hurt your songs like I once thought they might.

You guys are awesome. Perfect vocal matchup.

I was listening to Bill's Better this morning and started to comment on your myspace. I also noticed the box of wine comment there.

Great job you guys. Really impressive singing and playing.

buckhorn said 313 days ago
Fine whine
Thanks Bob, of course I am resolutely against drinking and driving, I married my designated driver. Thanks for the words and thanks for being a friend. Regards

Old Folks
It's good for me to have older friends. I can learn so much from people your age, if I live that long.

Right now I am still getting in touch with my "inner-front-man". You are one of the funniest old farts I know! I wanna party with you, Matt (and your DD)

Your pal,

Bob

touch of tom waits
with much better vox ... man this is cool matthew... great job guys ... mix is fantastic!!

buckhorn said 313 days ago
Parrish
the thought. There is no better voice than Tom Waits. As I said before, With out switches and dials I sound a lot like
Mr. Rodgers. Im guessing with out effects Dylan probably sounds something like Mr. Bean. Thanks for stoppin by.

great song
and fine collab guys...

buckhorn said 313 days ago
Thanks
I was guessing some fellow icomp junkies would like their
Dylan fix. Cheers

Moviz said 313 days ago
Great
song and a great sound too, love the vocals as well as all the backing in just the right place due to the excellent mixing, cheers M

buckhorn said 313 days ago
Thanks Maurice
I had you pegged as a gentleman right from the start. I guess first impressions hold true sometimes. Regards

TEXASFEEL said 313 days ago
Cool
Man! This is cool, loved the trade off on the vocals which tells an interesting story. Instrumentation is right on. Really original tune with lots of good stuff going on. Bridge is strategic and works really well. Nice collaboration. It's a privilege having you here. Thanks for sharing.

buckhorn said 313 days ago
Thanks
Those are some awfully kind words that I probably don't deserve but I'll take them anyway. Cheers

pablatone said 313 days ago

buckhorn said 313 days ago
Always nice
To get a comment from a B.O.S.M. ;) ( sorry, blame Vic) Seriously, I had a lot of fun with this. And I can't think of a better reason to make music. Regards

woofer3 said 313 days ago
Yes I know the
French map maker, - didn't realize he was on here til now,

Like the song and the performance.great title.

John

buckhorn said 312 days ago
Hey John
One of my favorite tunes on icomp was a tune you guys did together. cheers

eleveneyes said 312 days ago
Hell yeah
a purple cadillac and box of wine - great line.
fun tune. really liked the piano and the cop banter toward the end.
Drums sound over-compressed to me. I'd like to hear them a little bigger and forward in the mix - my personal preference. cool stuff guys.

buckhorn said 312 days ago
I
Don't know much about mixing, I thought it sounded better produced than any thing I've done. He even made my lame piano playing sound good, he must have chopped up the good parts and made them into loops Im guessing. Thanks for the words. Regards

BossHook said 312 days ago
Another amazing lyric
and tune. Dylan makes the magic, doesn't he? Great to hear both of you together here.

buckhorn said 311 days ago
Yeah John
Dyl made the mix sound good and big and he brung (brought) a great sense of showmanship to it. Thanks for stoppin in. Regards

guitapick said 312 days ago

Caught it just right...they had a blast and so did you guys...

buckhorn said 311 days ago
Hey dude
Thanks for the listen, its so cool now that there is technology available to collaborate across oceans, it was fun. Thanks

ledebutant said 311 days ago
Dangit, Ray already took Hell Yeah for His Title
I totally get what McBoy is saying about Jack and Diane. I could see John Mellencamp pushing his way up to the mic to sing along on this one with you guys. I really dig the fact that you have two lead singers on this. It adds a really cool, loose feel to the song and just makes it even more fun.

I love the lyrics. Especially the lines about Jim and his stinking. Great production, of course, fabulous playing and I had a blast listening. This is a driving with the top down kind of song.

Then the cops came...
Damnit.

buckhorn said 311 days ago
If J.M. did that.......
I'd make him "hurt so good" Just kidding, I'd probably dance with him. I'm glad the performance had a loose feel, thats the uninhibited state that I aim for. And Frankly Im glad the cops came, I laughed when I heared the moral that Dylan put in the story......Thanks for the Comment, I don't get many from the fairer gender, probably for good reason. Regards

Layers of paint
Thank good ol' iC Dylan for great production... the vox almost sounds like him, or the kind of thing that'd be up his alley. Thank you for a great tune. Sometimes a straight narrative can seem mundane or prosaic on the surface, while the execution of the song can paint a picture that goes deeper in the - in this - listener's imagination. Well done, Matt.

Prosaic Mosaic
Dylan and I both "sang" err vocalized on this. Funny you should comment I've been thinking about hitting you up for some riffage on a tune...... I'll be dropping you a note. Regards

said 252 days ago
Hah!
Classic, down n' dirty rock-a-billy. Yeah, Dylan is a production genius. But the tune is excellent to begin with. Well played. Well sung!

Take care!
